dmo21Participantso andrea bargnani has always been compared to dirk bacuse he is a 7 foot european who likes to shoot the ball… and yes they are both similar game wise, but i think bargnani has almost surpassed him skill wise, or will in a very short time. Bargnani shoots the 3 better and Dirk has the better midrange. But i think Andrea is getting better going off the dribble and getting to the hoop or pulling up for a shot. Bargnani has also developed a better low past game that he is now showing and he also can defend the center position unlike Dirk. I think Bargnani works harder in the rebounding department even tho Dirk averages more.. I think this is all due to coaching, when Dirk came into the league he was known as a shooter and thats what they let him be, he just scores and they didnt try to teach him anything else. But when Andrea came into the league they knew he could shoot, but then they taught him how to use the dribble, how to play beneath the net, how to defend, and how to rebound..

sheltwon3ParticipantI agree with you. Bargini moves better than Dirk and has a better post game at the same age but now Dirk is pretty solid in the post but he does not play a lot down there like Bargini has been doing even though Bargini plays a lot on the perimeter as well.

Ryan.Cook2ParticipantBARGNANI isn’t as good yet but someday could be close.

MkadozaParticipantIf you think Bargnani is close to Nowitzki in any capacity, you really understand how good Nowitzki is. The former MVP is definitely a better shooter as of now, regardless of how many threes he takes. Nowitzki has a complete offensive game, can take slower players of the dribble, post up, or shoot from anywhere, hes a better rebounder, and a smarter passer. He’s just more skilled and more mature and a better player. Until Bargnani proves he can average 26-10 with insane percentages, lets hold of on declaring him better than on of the top 3 power forwards of the decade.

quincey hodgesim hoping dmoe and shelwton is joking ..for one at the same age dirk averaged 21 and 9 in his third year..dirk shot better scored more and rebounded wayyyyyy more…but now this guy is better then dirk at the same ago or even now?..he doesnt shoot as well nor rebound nearly as well i mean come on please tell me yall are joking..if we going by the one game i should say brook lopez has caught up wit dunkin cuz of the numbers he put up and bynum has caught up with duncan too and surpassed him…lol

dmo21Participanti wasnt going by just the one game, but you also have to think about whose on their teams, dirk is the first option and has always been the first option. Bargnani will be the third and sometimes fourth scoring option on his team, with bosh, hedo, and calderon all getting touches.bargnani has to play center and thus guard bigger stronger players, while dirk plays power forward, which andrea should be playing, and guards more perimeter oriented players. Also, dirk has nobody on his team that can rebound, so he has to i guess lol. Bargnani has more help on the boards with bosh and others.

MkadozaParticipantYou’re digging your own grave. Theres a reason Dirk is the number one option in his team. He’s their best player. Bosh and Hedo have all proven to be more reliable and consistant scorers than Bargnani, and yet your declaring him better than a perennial all-star and mvp. How does that make any sense? And its a good thing Bargnani guards offensively limited centers. The good power forwards today would eat Bargnani alive… as for the rebounding… thats the only thing Eric Dampier CAN do having averaged more rebounds than points for the past four years. Bargnani averaged 5 rebounds in 30 minutes last year…. 5!!! And that was with Shawn Marion who now resides in Dallas. Do are we saying that Bargnani won’t have as many rebounding opportunities with Bosh as Dirk will with Marion and Dampier? No, we’re saying the truth that Dirk is a better rebounder. Career wise Dirk averages double. For guys that are the same size… it isnt comparable.

dmo21Participantbut do you think bargnani will become better than dirk? cause i never watched dirk when he first came into the league so i never saw how he played at the same age, and you cant go by averasges, thats always flawed.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 10/30/2009 - 5:56am #224996
quincey hodgesin this case its not flawed..dirk was better at his age hes better now and i think he will have a better career when both are retired..he just doesnt have the high level skill set that dirk has..i dont see mvp in his future or as many all stars at dirk..there is no proof what so ever that he is close to dirk at the same age or better or will be better…its liek saying jr smith is better on the same level or will be better then kobe just because they are similar hight and americans

MkadozaParticipantBargnani will be very very good in my opinion… but Dirk is really something else. He’s going to end up in the hall of fame. He may have the best, definitely the most unguardable jump shot in the league. Bargnani is Dirk-esque and he’s definitely out of position playing as a center. He has very good handles, a decent passer, and an excellent shooter. He could put up Dirk type numbers, and who knows? He may get to that level. But as of now, its not close… its getting closer, but its not close.

sheltwon3ParticipantActually so people can’t read. I said that Bargnani inside game is better than Dirks at the same age. You got guys in here with a lot of passion but can not read. I also said that Bargnani is a better outside player and better driver than Nowitski which I do believe. Dirk is a better post player right now and also a slightly better defender and better mid range scorer than Bargnani by far. I know this. I have watched the Mavs from when the sucked to now. I am 29 years old now. Bargnani is quicker off the dribble than Nowitski and if he ever works on his mid range game, you will see how close they really are. Bargnani also need to get a little stronger too.

sheltwon3ParticipantDmo21 dont worry about bandwagon people. They are people that only go off of hype and what they feel they know based on numbers. This is not about one game. I have been saying this stuff about Bargnani for years. His problems earlier was he played to weak and inconsistent but his talent level has he greater than Nowitzski but his skill level is still coming around. When it goes down, we can be the ones that said we told you so.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 10/30/2009 - 7:40am #225026
quincey hodgesive also watched both(30 and lived in dallas when i was in the airforce)..dirks post game is better he just doesnt work down there much..his jumper is better his handles arent as good as barnani. dirk at the same stage, age in his career as a better player then bargnani…he will be good but i dont see him touching dirk..i dont see mvp’s in his future..i do see him making the allstar team if he stays at center. i dont believe he has or will have the talent that dirk has..but thats my opinion just liek ya’ll have a opinion that he will be better..but its a fact dirk is better now and was better at the same age
0 - Posted on: Fri, 10/30/2009 - 9:48am #225062
the microwaveParticipantill give you this.. I see enormous improvement on his end, but compared to dirk? You cant compare a Reliable ACCord to a Lexus… Theres no comparison, yea one is reliable, but the other is the ish….
0 - Posted on: Fri, 10/30/2009 - 10:02am #225066
rtbtParticipantI’m not getting into the argument as to who will eventually be the better player, but right now it’s obvious, Dirk is a superior player. However, Bargnani is only 23 years old and has lots of potential and room to grow.
But I do want to talk about one aspect of their games that I believe is critical and that’s rebounding. This is a no brainer. Dirk is an excellent rebounder while Bargnani has never shown any inclination to fight for rebounds. The only rebounds Bargnani gets are on foul shots and balls that accidentally carom into his hands.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 10/30/2009 - 10:14am #225069

sheltwon3Participanti never said he was better at the same age, I said there are things that Bargnani can do at his age that Dirk was not able to do as well at the same age and I said now and even before Bargnani is better off the dribble. I never said that Bargnani is better than Dirk when he was that age. Whomever is reading my words and saying I am saying that is not arguing against me but against their own imagination. It is debateable that Bargnani inside game is better than Dirk at the same age but I believe it is.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 10/30/2009 - 10:40am #225071
quincey hodgeswho said you said that?..cuz all i did was mention how good dirk was at the same age..might wanna re read
0 - Posted on: Fri, 10/30/2009 - 10:45am #225074

sheltwon3Participantsomeone actually mentioned my name earlier about me not knowing what I am talking about. I don’t know if it was you or not. Well it was you. My thing if you mentioned me you need to accurately say what you disagree with and why. The way your comment comes off where you mentioned my name, it suggest you are saying that I said Bargnani was better than Dirk at the same age. I did not say that.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 10/30/2009 - 10:51am #225078
quincey hodgesthere was no suggestion..i explained every thing and i mentioned hes not better then dirk now nor at the same age..you just took it the way you wanted to take it sinc ei didnt mention that you said any thing about him being better at the same age….you made a assumption

quincey hodgesi see..flipping between a couple game…is he allergic to rebounding and blocking( 7ft center)
0 - Posted on: Fri, 10/30/2009 - 4:06pm #225198

sheltwon3Participantnot really even bosh and other guys have bad games and inconsistency is a problem of a lot of guys. Also homie i would have assumed nothing if you had not mentioned me by name. My thing is if you were not talking about me then why did you say my name.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 10/30/2009 - 4:18pm #225207
