i’ve always liked webster. He had an nba ready body and shooting stroke when he was in highschool. If he stays healthy, dude could be all-star level one day.

Greg Oden needs to get more touches… First game 1-3? Second game 2-5? How is he going to improve if he doesn’t get more touches down low…

Why would you give the clumsiest and either the worst or second worst offensive player on that whole team (depending how bad you think Pryzbilla is offensively) more than a few touches a game? You would take shots from guys like Roy, Aldridge, Outlaw, Fernandez, Webster, etc to give more shots to bumbling, fumbling Greg Oden? If Greg Oden wants touches he needs to go get the ball when it comes back off the rim and throw it down. His touches should very rarely be through the offense.

you give a guy more touches who knows what do do with them..did you watch the game..he bring the ball down 2 low(stripped) his foot work isnt that good yet and got his shot blocked twice..his points are gonna come from drive and dish for dunks….like i said before hes not a offensive optio..hes a good rebounder shot blocker but hes still foul prone…some players dont get touches for a reason and its not because players dont like them..fizur he gotr more touches the other day but kept turning it over

I swear I don’t care about points, but I got negative points for stating the obvious. Whoever gave me those points, I wouldn’t let run a 5 year old rec league, but again that’s probably the same type of person that when they get older they coach the team so their son gets to play.

Oden needs to score like guys like David Lee, Paul Milsapp, and Joakim Noah. These guys get a few touches in the offense, but they get most of their opportunities from going hard to the glass and getting put backs and tip ins. Right now that’s Oden’s game. It makes no sense for Portland to run offensive sets for him until he develops his game way more and right now they have too many other good offensive players to have to do so. Denver was doubling Oden hard. Not because he is an offensive threat, but because he cannot handle double teams and he is bad with the basketball. Like Hodges just said, the guy has bad footwork and is getting stripped because he is bringing the ball down to where smaller guys can smack at it.

Oden is going to improve by practicing what I am sure he is being taught. You can’t just work on post moves during game time. The things you see some guys do that look so effortless, they have put a lot of work into doing and honing. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying he’s not putting in the effort, but he’s got a lot of work to do just to be adequate on offense. I don’t see Oden ever being a good offensive player. He is rare in that he is extremely athletic, but he is also extremely uncoordinated.

I said there a couple of times that Melo is a sleeper to be leading scorer, and if i’m not wrong most of didn’t agreed with me..sorry but i won’t be shy to say he is my #1pick to lead the league in scoring..he is natural scorer, if D12 keeps shooting ft under 60% and Paul’s hornets will be just 7-8seed in the WEst there will comes some talks who is 4th best player in the league between those three guys..IMO

that was nicely put double..youre 100percent correct..someone was tryna tell me he got doubled because hes dominate on offense when the truth is because he’s likely to turn it over..and hes not ready to have plays run for him he should do exactly what you said. he needs to attack the offensive glass sprint every time on offense and get marion buckets as i call it…bpeople talk about how much slower that bynum is then oden but he sprints down on offense and seems to be able to out run other big men when he needs too.. as oden develops and leanrs to make moves his teammates will start looking for him more and he will start to get more plays run for him…and i think oden knows that because he gets the ball alot and passes it out..its like he knows his limitations

I keep saying this, but Portland is using Oden the wrong way. He’s not a player who you can dump the ball into and let him isolate in the post at this point. That’s just NOT his game right now. However, he’s screens hard and rolls to the rim and does NOT get the ball. They need to get him the ball ON TIME when he’s under the rim. That’s a dunk, and one or two free-throws almost guaranteed. Even if he doesn’t score, he’d still be putting the other team’s bigs in foul trouble which will benefit Portland in more ways than one.

With that being said, Oden has A LOT of work to do and he knows it. The main thing for Oden to do right now is to rebound and protect the rim. All those other things will come.

i nsee what you are trying to say but did you see the first or second game..he doesnt get the ball because he turns it over..he brings it down and gets it stripped….thats way the best way for him to score is a drive and dish off to him but gotta make it quick because he brings the ball down and gets it stripped..and thats only after the other options dont work..as a coach you go with the options thats gonna have the highest sucess rate for you to score which is go to roy or aldrige or webster or outlaw or rudy sometimes..they may miss but they will also make and wont turn it over..eventually hopefully greg will be able to do that but right now he cant

A good player for Oden to watch would be Pau Gasol. He ALWAYS holds the ball high and goes straight up. Oden’s turnovers are due to him being impatient and lacking offensive awareness. He needs to slow down and be patient. It’ll come. He’s going to get better. Right now, he shouldn’t be getting isolation plays in the post. They should be getting him the ball in spots where he can dunk the damn ball. That’s his strength.

Oden did show me a couple of quick drop steps versus NeNe and Birdman, but just didn’t finish. Like Reggie Miller said, he needs to gather himself. Oden needs tons of work offensively. He really needs a big man’s coach to work one on one with him every single day.

thats why i say hes not a bust and that hes still raw offensively..has alot of potenial but hes just not there yet and thats ok for the blazers since the things they need him to do hes doing very well..if he could just stay out of foul trouble its not out of the relm of possibility for him to lead the leauge in blks and rebounds..watching paul would be good but what would be better is him hiring a big man coach and have him work with him before and after practice..go that extra mile
