the_shamwow_guyParticipant18 points
9 rebounds
4 blocked shotsNot only that but watching the highlights it looked like he has his athletic abilities back after the injury. He also took a few good shots as well. Its to early to day he is going to be great but i sure do hope he has alot more games like this in the coming season and hopefully even better games then he did last season.

Henry25Participantdamn, i know it’s just pre-season but those r big numbers. Lovin the 4 blocks

IndianaBasketballParticipantThis is pre-season, but it’s definitely a sign of things to come. I’ve been saying all along just wait until he gets healthy. He’ll be a different player. The more confident he is, the better he is.
He had 18 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks in only 25 minutes. I think he shot 10-12 free throws. His four blocks don’t even tell how he dominated the paint. He blocked 4, changed the shots of 5 and intimidated about 10 lol. There’s been talk he and Andre Miller might come off the bench. If so, there won’t be another backup center that can guard him or prevent Miller from getting him the ball.

Henry25ParticipantMcMillan needs to get his head checked if he is really serious about bringing Miller and Oden off of the bench. You dont draft a player number 1 to have him be a back up center, and u dont pay a point guard 7 million a year to be a back up pg

Champzilla21ParticipantIt may not be that bad of idea to bring oden off the bench say the first 5 games, let his confidence build up let him get the feel for the game, just because he comes off the bench doesnt mean he cant play starter minutes, if hes playing good leave him in, if not pryzbilla is a very solid back up center, and same for miller i would rather see him get like 30 32 mins a game with blake and bayless spliting the rest, either way portland plays this their going to be very good and exciting this year

doubledribblerParticipantPersonally, I would think that it would be better to just go ahead and start Miller, but maybe they believe that Roy is enough of a facilitator that they can bring him off the bench. Maybe they like Miller coming off the bench with Rudy. They have a lot of depth, so nothing that they do as far as rotations surprise me because at the end of the game, they are probably going to have the best 5 guys on the court at the same time.
Bringing Oden off the bench is great though. It gives him more time to develop and increase his confidence. He should really excel against 2nd teamers. Obviously, as time goes on and if he shows steady improvement he will probably be made the starter. Remember that an 82 Game season is long and I don’t think there are any teams in the league with the same quality of depth from top to bottom. The Blazers can do things like this without really slipping.

quincey hodgesbringing either off the bench might not be a bad idea..some peopel dont seemto understand it and think just because a player is better then another he should start but they dont take into acount what may work better for the team and what roles they may need for there starters or back ups…jason terry ginobli, jr smith and a few others are better then the guys that start over them but its better for the team for them to come off the bench…im pretty sure which ever call nate makes will be a pretty good call

Dtay2152Participantand he only had TWO fouls! i was watching the fanfest a few days ago and oden looks alot quicker than last year. he also seems to have gotten alot of his athleticism back. hes dropped 14 pounds from last year which helps him to be alot more mobile. i think that oden and miller need to start together or come off the bench together because miller is sooo much better at getting oden the ball. as a blazer fan i will be so mad if blake and pryz start over oden and miller.

unaznizedParticipantyeah I understand you, if I were a blazer fan I would want miller and oden to start. but I understand why MacMillen (sp?) would have them come off the bench.
Miller is a true point guard who can get his points, but isn’t really much of a scorer. I think the blazers want Miller off the bench because Roy is already a playmaker like Miller, and Steve Blake isn’t really much of a playmaker. Miller can come off the bench for Blake and play with two playmakers, or sub for Roy so they still have one on the floor at all times.
as for Oden, Macmillan doesn’t want him to be playing with Blake because Blake isn’t a good on ball defender, unlike Andre. which means when Blake’s man beats him off the dribble, Oden has to come help out and may result into him committing a foul and then possibly getting in foul trouble. with Miller on the court with him, he won’t committ as many fouls because Miller is a great on ball defender. and on the offensive side, Miller doesn’t need to score, which means he can focus on getting the ball to Oden and giving him more touches, especially if BRoy isn’t on the court as well.

Dtay2152Participanti think the only thing that could get in odens way of becoming a dominant center if he cant stay healthy
