Ken SeansParticipantThe Ties That Bind: It is amusing how much negative press former Magic star Dwight Howard is getting over what was a genuine gesture this weekend. Howard took out a full page ad thanking the city of Orlando for all that they gave him and in return he’s been blasted for it.

Ken SeansParticipantEvery team has to face the reality that at some point, once enough checks are cashed, that their brightest stars will want more than money. They’ll want to win championships and become icons of the game.

Ken SeansParticipantAt the end of the day you can blame Howard for waffling with his decisions. You came blame Howard for a circle of influence that was as leaky as the Titanic – all of that is fair – but to blast Howard for an ad thanking the fans? Not sure I can get behind that one. It just comes off as sour grapes.

Ken SeansParticipantHarrison Barnes – While it wasn’t his best performance in Las Vegas (with stand-out Klay Thompson sitting this one out), Barnes was still strong with 20 points and nine boards. Barnes played almost 37 minutes and shot 7-16. He also had two steals and no turnovers (but no assists). If there was any doubt that Barnes is a top talent in this draft, his play throughout summer league has been very reassuring to the Golden State Warriors.

leokoaooaoaParticipantThere’s no question that Thabeet can play the game of basketball. After all, we’re talking about one of college basketball’s most dominant centers from 2008-09. He averaged a respectable 13.6 points to go with his 10.8 rebounds as a junior, but it was primarily the 152 shots he blocked in his third year at UCONN that earned him the attention of the Memphis Grizzlies, who used the second overall pick of the 2009 NBA Draft to acquire him.

DWAGAAEEEAParticipant“Jose is a pro,” Colangelo said. “He has been around the block. He has been a big part of this organization and has done a lot for us. I anticipate that as long as he is here, he is going to continue to do the things that are going to help this team win basketball games.”i[0p909
