The8thDeadlySinParticipantThis is just a little tidbit of info here about the Blazers. Andre Miller failed the conditioning test in the Blazers camp. That doesnt mean that he is off the team or anything it just pisses people off. He was the only player, with a guaranteed contract, to fail the test. Oden, Outlaw, and Blake all had very very impressive showings. Does that mean anything for the Blazers or is it just a thing they have to deal with. BTW, the test was a test of running lines. Miller had to run 10 lines in 61 seconds, which isnt too hard. But, this is not a surprise because Miller was never considered a speed demon.

IndianaBasketballParticipantMiller isn’t a speed demon, but he should be faster than Oden lol. Still… I don’t think this will mean anything.

The8thDeadlySinParticipantDid anyone see his picture on NBA.com?? When I saw it, the first thing I noticed was his hair and the second was that he looked like he had beefed up. Not gotten fat, just bigger in his arms. Could that have something to do with it??

McWinningParticipantthat’s shamshit! if i got to play in the nba i wouldn’t make a fool of myself like that. i would would at least work out enough to pass that test.

JNixonParticipantIm not suprised, he looks like a guy that can get out of shape. And I agree Quincey, if I was in the NBA I would be trying to stay in shape but out of shape players in the NBA happens more often than people realize..horrible.

Champzilla21ParticipantThis would be kind of embarassing, especially when it is your point guard. This is a team which has strong finishers on their team so theyll make up for his lack of speed. And for miller being faster then oden i dont think he should be. Theirs a reason he was drafted number one, hes fast and agile for a big man
0 - Posted on: Thu, 10/01/2009 - 9:45am #218159

JNixonParticipantFor a big man, yes. But the PG should be faster than the big man. You would agree to that right?
0 - Posted on: Thu, 10/01/2009 - 9:58am #218160

IndianaBasketballParticipantYea… Typically your point guard should lead the break and be faster than your 7′ 0″ 265 lb center.

Michael.S.Participanthe looks like a bum with a basketball in that pic.

sheltwon3ParticipantWow all the the hate for Andre over what because he got bigger and over the summer and did not pass some test. He is still a great basketball player. His game has never been about being fast. Also I doubt he practiced much considering earlier he had no deal. If anything he may have just lifted weight. He probably did not want to get hurt until he got signed. I don’t see it being a issue. He will be in good enough shape to help the Trailblazers.

sheltwon3ParticipantAlso for those of you who said I would be in shape in I was in the NBA, Andre obviously has worked hard to get in the NBA and to stay in the NBA despite not being a great of good athlete but by being smarter and making he right decisions. If you can do all that which some of the great athletic points struggle to do then you have an argument.

McWinningParticipanti can see why Blake is the starter now. he needs to be quick defensively Blake is a liability and if hes slow its bad for them im sure their trying to motivate him by making him earn his spot and it is bad if your slower than a center as a point guard.

llperezMy guess is that Andre out ran Oden. I’m pretty sure when they do these tests there is a different requirement depending on the position. Centers are not gonna be expected to run the speed as pg’s. I also read on espn.com that it is almost certain that Miller will come off the bench this season. Brandon Roy has stated that he and MIller have trouble working together and the team has decided that it would be best if Miller played with the second unit.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 10/01/2009 - 11:03am #218183

The8thDeadlySinParticipantSry for the confusion. Guards had 61 seconds to run 10 lines. Forwards had 64 and Centers had 65 seconds to do it.

d-grizzlyParticipanthe’ll be fine when the season starts…i think we can agree to that and move on.

0 - Posted on: Thu, 10/01/2009 - 11:34am #218199

Dtay2152Participantyou guys need to take it easy one andre he is like 32 or 33 so what if the guy rests his body for the upcoming season. he plays himself into shape he has missed only a few games over his entire career. and no oden didnt run it faster that miller they have differant expectations for centers than they do their guards. here is the actuhttp://blog.oregonlive.com/behindblazersbeat/2009/09/only_one_blazers_player_fails.htmlal article where it talks about it

JNixonParticipantI had a tiny feeling that Miller would possibly not mesh with Roy seeing as Roy usually is the PG/main ball handler in the 4th qtr and Miller isnt the type that would play without the ball. But Miller will probably still play the bulk of the minutes for them.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 10/01/2009 - 1:50pm #218255

llperezyeah, according to the artilce I read on insider, Miller will play a lot of minutes so to take pressure off Roy of having to create offeense on every possesion. But they said the problem with them starting together is that Roy likes to walk it up and Miller is more of a push it up type. Also, when Roy penetrates, Blake is a better spot up shooter then Miller.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 10/01/2009 - 5:26pm #218351
NYK2010Participanthe’s probly hasn’t played any ball since August thats what camp is for. He’ll be fine its not like the teams runs a Phoenix Suns offense and they are so balance he won’t get more than 30mins a game anyway.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 10/02/2009 - 5:39am #218400
quincey hodgesyeah its only training camp so as long as hes ready by the start of the season he will be awight if not he will play his self into shape like alot of players do which really isnt the way to go though. i think him and roy should mess pretty well since miller isnt the type to complain about not having the ball in crunch time. players who usually complain about that are the ones who are used to being the star on everyteam they are on.
