IndianaBasketballParticipantI’ve read a few articles that have said Phil Jackson is seriously mulling over a starting lineup of:
Bryant
Artest
Odom
Gasol
BynumThoughts?

McWinningParticipantno that wouldnt work. they got to the finals last year why would they try something crazy like that?
0 - Posted on: Sat, 09/26/2009 - 5:37pm #216655
Michael.S.ParticipantThat lineup would be Hugemongus, but Kobe would get killed by the Rose’s and Paul’s…………hmmmm I don’t see that working at all

thetruthParticipantphil lets kobe play pg. it would be impossible for kobe to pass the ball then. and artest is not a shooter,
0 - Posted on: Sat, 09/26/2009 - 5:39pm #216659

thetruthParticipantkobe wouldnt want to pass the ball around like a pg should

llperezFisher has one year left in him so i doubt they take his starting spot although he will definitely play less minutes.

IndianaBasketballParticipantArtest is not a shooter??? He shot almost 40% from 3P last season.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 09/26/2009 - 5:48pm #216664
Michael.S.ParticipantNah Artest is an avg. shooter, he isn’t really “a shooter” but I can’t see Kobe playing the PG in any way shape or form, maybe they can put Odom at the 1 because of his versatility, but then again the upper tier PG’s would murder him.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 09/26/2009 - 5:52pm #216665

TyroberParticipantkobe will play more of small forward than PG. Fisher is fine as a starter. He is an awesome locker room guy.Brown and Farmar will close the games but Fisher is going to be the starter

doubledribblerParticipantArtest is actually a pretty good shooter, besides if anyone in that lineup is handling the ball it would probably be Odom. Kobe, Odom and Gasol are all excellent passers for their position. With that said, I still think Fisher will be starting and Odom will come off the bench. I think that is best for them because Odom comes in for Bynum moving Gasol to center and then when Bynum comes back in he gives Gasol a rest. It’s a pretty tough 3 man rotation especially if Bynum can get himself back together.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI guess I’m the only one who thinks this is intriguing lol. Rose, Paul, etc would def. have a quickness advantage against Kobe, but he’d have a size, strength and length advantage against them. If they get past Kobe on the perimiter (which is still no easy task) Bynum, Gasol and Odom will be lurking in the paint. Let’s talk about Rose, Paul, etc trying to guard Kobe in the post lol… He’d have a field day. I just see this lineup causing serious problems.
You also have to remember that Phil doesn’t need a traditional point guard to run the triangle. All Kobe would be doing is annitiating the offense. We all know that he’d end up back with the ball in the post. And as someone said above… Odom would also have ball handling duties.

Yes, but he also doesn’t need one of the best 1on1 scorers in the game playing point guard, where will that get you?
Does Kobe know how to initiate the O ,after being that go to scorer his whole career?
BTW every team basically doubles Kobe in the post, so its not like he would be straight dogging them downlow.

thetruthParticipantartest can make wide open jump shot. but hes streaky. a shooter is like ray allen type or melo.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 09/26/2009 - 6:18pm #216678

IndianaBasketballParticipantI’d hope Kobe knew how to innitiate the triangle offense after running it for so many years lol.
I’m not saying I agree that Kobe should start point guard. I’m just saying that it could be intriguing. Obviously, if Phil Jackson is mulling it over… There’s something to it.

sheltwon3Participant2 things people the triangle does not need a true point guard. part two is Odom is skilled enough as a passer and can play point as for as bring it up court and once the offense is set up it doesn’t matter. Gasol is also a good passer and Kobe is too and Artest is a decent passer as well as Bynum. This line up would be ridiculous but the only problem is this weakens the bench.

JNixonParticipantI say groom Shannon Brown for the spot. He’s a decent/steady/unspectacular passer, makes his spot ups, and is good coming off screens for shots and backdoors/alley-oops. Unselfish and athletic. He also is a ridiculous defender who can guard most backcourt players in basketball with his quickness, length and strength. He did the best jobs on Aaron Brooks, and Derron Williams in the playoffs than both Fisher and Farmar. The part of his game that needs the most improvement are his handles, which are below average for a PG. But he can at times get away with it because he’s quick..I think he’s talented and should get a shot.

MagikKnickParticipantThat lineup would definetly work, i think you guys are forgetting that the Lakers use the triangle offense
But there main problem would be who comes off the bench as a spark…Derek Fisher? Odom is best off the bench…they should keep it the way it is
0 - Posted on: Sun, 09/27/2009 - 5:55am #216740
BasketballGuru24ParticipantEven you guys don’t watch laker games…….Kobe is usually bring the ball up and when he is double team, he tosses out to a open shooter leaving a open shot. They also run a triangle offense which really doesn’t need a true point guard
But i still don’t think they should use this line up……they should keep there line up with derek fisher in it……this leaves their bench vulnerable leaving no true ” Quality” Player coming off……..Odom owns the bench and should just stay there

joe2BAParticipantIf Phil ran that lineup, It would be LAMAR ODOM WHO WOULD PLAY THE POINT FORWARD. I would definitely put money he brings the ball up the court. He is an excellent ball handler and passer for his height. Nooo he wouldn’t guard the other teams point guard, but it would make much more sense to keep Kobe and Artest on the wings and have Lamar Odom play “Ron Harper”

D HampParticipantIf I were coaching the Lakers, this might be my starting lineup. I would carry about bench production too much because you can always rotate the starters, leaving some in the game while others rest.
Dhamp…the greatest basketball mind in the world. Next to Hubie Brown anyway.

quincey hodgesi wouldnt use it although its very intruiging..some of ya’ll say paul and rose would kill kobe but they would be more at a disadvantage then the other way around..think how much slower they will become as the game goes on from having to check kobe…not just out top but in the post where the banging takes a big toll on youre legs..yeah kobe will have a lil prob keeping up with paul becuse of his jumper, quickness ..but easier with rose by laying off him and using his length and having help from the bigs down low when he drives. also as people have said he triangle doesnt need a traditional pg in order to work

AirJuggernautabout needing help from the bigs
I think that most people forget about HELP DEFENSE
the game is 5 on 5 not 1 on 1 not to mention Kobe might get a few blocks from behind
using his length will help out a lot 😉0
