td8118ParticipantWatchin this dude play, i think hes the toughest, meanest and best defensive big man in the NBA… he is above average center in the NBA and maybe could be an all star but probably will just be a tough role player for winning teams

IndianaBasketballParticipantYou think he’s better than Dwight Howard on defense?

td8118ParticipantYeah he guards the pick and roll much better, isn’t the shot blocker Howard is but is just as physical if not more so

td8118Participanthah this site is ridiculous….every time i make any statment, even one thats pretty well known, saying that Perkins guards the pick n roll better than Howard, I automatically loose points…Is it because you think Im saying something wrong, or am I the only one thats not giving myself points

McWinningParticipantyes hes a better pick & roll defender but not more phyical. Howards the most dominant player in the league.

MagikKnickParticipantThere both excellent defenders, i’d give Howard the advantage mainly because Perkins works alongside a guy by the name of Kevin Garnett, which could probably make things a bit easier at times, especially on the defensive end
And Perkins is more physical than Howard, he’ll put his hand up someones ass if he has to

td8118ParticipantI agree hes serviceable but I think thats because of how much talent he has around him….Give him 10 touches a game, and i think he could develop into a nice talented option

quincey hodgeshe didnt always have all that talent around him……..just to be sure we are talking abou tthe same guys…5pts 5 reb career average..even when k garnett got injuried big baby came of the bench and stepped up instead of perkins

doubledribblerParticipantIf I remember correctly, he stepped up in the playoffs with a hurt Ray Allen and no KG around. He played Dwight Howard to a stand still in their series. I’m not a Perkins fan, but the guy has improved and I would say he is one of the top 12 centers in the league. As much as I think Dwight Howard is amazing, he’s an ok defender. He blocks shots, but he doesn’t really play solid defense. I see him swat a lot of balls out of bounds instead of keeping them inbounds. He jumps off the ground too much at times. Gasol ate him alive on the offensive end in the finals and would have done much more if he got the touches. He has some work to do. I think Perkins is more of a fundamentally sound defensive player than Howard, but Howards athleticism makes up for a lot of what he is lacking at this point in time.

BlazermannParticipantdwight has his flaws ,people just think being a great shot blocker means your the best defender that not the case dwight has that down packed but kg and ben wallace locked up the post in every way possible pick&roll screens all that good stuff dwight will learn that and become crazy on d even tho he is already crazy on d
