trojans13ParticipantNo offense to Mr. McCants, always been a big fan but for his sake I would have like to have seen him sign elsewhere. Minutes on the wing are going to be hard to come by. Sounds like Tim Grover has TMac healthy again, plus they signed Ariza and already have Battier there. I think McCants is better than these two by a mile, but they signed Budinger and Jermaine Thomas to guaranteed deals over the summer as well. Maybe with the loss of Yao they will play 5 wings at a time. just kidding

D HampParticipantThis is a sleeper move!
Dhamp….the greatest basketball mind in the world. Next to Hubie Brown anyway.

JNixonParticipantHe’ll play the same role Von Wafer played last year. Maybe more minutes if McGrady is less effective..good pickup. I wanted Philly to get him though…

llperezI read that Ariza only signed with Houston because they gauranteed him a starting spot while Cleavland would not gaurantee him a starting spot. So if Tmac comes back, there’s 2 of Houston’s starters. Add in Battier who you know will be the first man off the bench and that leaves McCants and Buddinger battleing for the leftovers.

trojans13Participanti agree, i always thought mccants could be a mcuh more athletic vinny johnson type off the bench for a very good team. just come in off the bench and score points in bunches and not worry about anything else

RickyRubio9ParticipantI like this move by us…I think he can score double digits and be exactly what Wafer was for us last year. I hope he plays up to his potential and sure we have a logjam at the SF and SG…
McGrady and Taylor are both SG.
Budinger, Battier, and Ariza are all SF.
If McGrady is healthy it’ll make things clearer with McGrady the starting SG and playing some Point if needed…yes Point.
Then if McCants even makes the team I think he can push Taylor out the way because he didn’t impress me at all during the Summer League. As for SF I think Battier should start, but as said, Ariza came to start and I’m sure Battier wouldn’t mind. Budinger won’t get much playing time unless we are up big or down big…or if our season is on its way downhill. I like the signing though as I said.0 - Posted on: Thu, 09/24/2009 - 2:41pm #215806
BasketballGuru24ParticipantMark My Words He Will Be A Runner For Most Improve Player……..With No real Instant Offense Besides Mcgrady This Guy Will Pick It Up

SpencerIsHawesome2ParticipantMcCants barely got PT on a shitty Kings team and didn’t receive much FA interest at all and you all think he’s gonna be some great player?

rickybobbyParticipantGreat move bt my Rockets. McCants is going to be a terrific scoring option of the bench, in the same role as Von Wafer. And a stop gap starter if T-Mac not ready at th beginning of the season.

gatorheelsParticipantHa Thanks for the post QHaynes. I didn’t even know about this yet until I read this post. Wow, I wasn’t even hearing much about Houston at all. I thought McCants would sign with Denver, Charlotte, or Miami. I am happy with the signing though. Looks like I am a Houston Rockets fan now! Haha Oh yeah Houston will make the playoffs.
They did sign McCants to a non-guaranteed offer. This means he has a chance to make the team through training camp. I think he will make the team. I certainly hope he does. McCants has to beat out Brent Barry probably in order to make the squad. I think McCants will be the backup SG. He will be ahead of Taylor & Budinger on the depth chart. I think the Rockets will play Budinger at SF some too.

RickyRubio9ParticipantYeah, Rockets been planning on using Budinger as a 3 anyways and he should become more defensive minded with Ariza and Battier mentoring him. Brent Barry won’t play for the Rockets this season though…he’s on the Trading Block, if that doesn’t work out then he’d retire is what I’m hearing…so it’s McCants spot to lose. I think he should make it and fill Von Wafer’s shoes because Jermaine Taylor really stunk it up in Summer League and he was expected to play a Wafer-Type Role.
