the way the league did it in ’95 when toronto and vacouver entered the league:

The two teams were not part of the lottery. They were automaticly given the 6th and 7th picks with a coin flip determing who got which.

they had an expansion draft where every team got to protect any 8 players on the roster. Everyone else on the roster was put into the expansion draft and Toronto and Vancouver went back and forth picking one player at a time. Each team could only lose 1 player. The players who were selected were now property of either tor or van but their original contract from their old team was still in place.

Neither team was allowed to spend as much money in the free agent market for a couple years becuase it would have allowed them to go after all the top free agents.

Neither team was allowed to land a top 2 pick for a few years because they were obviously the worst teams and the league didn’t hink it was fair to allow them the best players in the first few years.

this is all off the top of my head from what I remember. And for trivia sakes, the Raptors selected BJ Armstrong from the Chicago Bulls with the first expansion draft pick.

don’t remember for sure, but I know they had an expansion draft similar to ’95 because every team was allowed to protect 8 players. That is how the Kings lost Gerlad Wallace, and they were really upset about that.

The Nba gave the Bobcats the 4th pick in the 2004 draft but they made a trade with LA Clippers to have and the second pick and drafted Emeka Okafor.

and yes the bobcats had an expansion draft also..

Too many, I know, but adding more than one team would be better with distributing some free agents, while giving them a good lineup spot. I’ve see players who get signed and play really good, but when they become free agents they can’t get their game back so I think it would be good.

I think when the expansion teams select a player who is a restricted free agent it then makes them an unrestricted free agent.

The Bobcats even drafted Marcus Fizer in the expansion draft but he never made the final roster… Sad story… LOL
