sheltwon3ParticipantI get tired of seeing argument with people when what a person said can be backed up. You got people that have selective hearing or sight because the see stuff that you did not even say. Mentioning Jordan always throw people off because they are so high on him they can’t talk about anyone that could compare with him. In his younger days he had growing pains just like a lot players and did not win his first ring until like his 7th or 8th year. He was not the best 3 point shooter but he could make them when it counted. He was a very good defender and he got away with a lot of fouls that were not called. There are guys in the NBA now that are better skilled and quicker and faster but they don’t have Jordan will and total package. Even if a player is better than Jordan, Jordan auro and what he did for the game can not be repeated. If you take away the hype there are several players Kobe and Wade, and maybe Lebron that are closely comparable to Jordan. In the past they made these comparison with players too.

sheltwon3ParticipantI don’t support D Hamp all the time but if someone is right I will be there to support them. He has given more than enough info to support his point. Yall were trying to bait him into saying something he never said or prove something he never argued in the first place. D Hamp in the pass has not always said popular things but even when his opinions were a lil off he does do his homework on stuff and I deep respect that. All these other new names and faces. There are some and I forget all so i am not going to just throw up a few but yall know who yall are. You guys bring in good information and have credibility. Some of these noobs dont have that and want to argue on some dumb stuff. It needs to be regulated.

esperanzafleet69Participantdhamp was sayin that he was comparable to jordan… which he wasnt… he said that his injury basically ruined his career (which it didnt after his 89-90 season which he was injured in he still had 4 straight seasons after that averaging over 18 ppg)… no way should ron harper shoould ever be compared to jordan…. maybe u should tell this to dhamp…
its like oj mayo’s 20 ppg rookie season and calling him michael jordan…

esperanzafleet69ParticipantI agreed with another user that Harper was ALMOST like Jordan before he blew out his knee. And he was.
theres his quote if u want it…

llperezthis argument has been done to death. Since this about D Hamp vs Quincey, they both made some valid points. Harper was in fact compared to Jordan early in his career because there were not that many sg’s who could do the things Jordan did, and as soon a guy showed some similar flashes, the media jumped on it. Harper was very good and he was compared to Jordan, so D Hamp gets that one.
But I watched some of Harpers games from the 80’s. Just like a week ago I watched that playoff game where Jordan hit the foul line jumper over Ehlo to win it. Harper was nowhere near Jordan’s level. Imagine if OJ Mayo never got much better then he did as a rookie and just put up the same numbers for a few years before falling off due to an injury and people compared him to Kobe Bryant. It would be the same situation.

sheltwon3ParticipantI have seen highlights of some of Ron early work and he could slash and jump and was an all around player. I dont think he was as good as michael but early on he had all the tools that Michael had for the most part. Also he had two key injuries. One was his ankle and then his knee. He probably did not work as hard as Jordan early on but when he got older and after injury he worked out with Jordan and he did a lot of good stuff for the Bulls and Lakers. We will never know what might have been. Just like early on Penny Hardaway was compare to Jordan but Knee injuries total jacked his career up. Had he stay healty i believe he would be a HOF but I guess we will never know. Stuff like that happens. I watched Penny and Shaq early on and if Shaq would have stay and Penny stayed healthy. They could have more rings than MJ and Penny would have been where Kobe is in a sense but hey it did not happen. Penny was my favorite player growing up. I studied his game and could do a lot of what he could but I was not that height though.

sheltwon3ParticipantPeople on hear think with their emotions and not their brains sometimes. You say a certain and they stop thinking and just get defensive about nothing. I tend to always do my research so i dont have arguments that are just senseless. Every arguement i have had could be defended with actually stats and other forms of evidence. I was still disagreed upon though. One time I found evidence against myself but it was not totally accurate but it was enough to concede my loss and move on until what i said can be proven.

JoeWolf1I think the original post was so vague there was confusion on what they were even arguing about, I mean Ron Harper is nice like Mike could mean a million things. I think it was a downward spiral from there, I argued it the topic of Harper not being as good as Jordan for a while, but gave up because D-Hamp was just saying Harper was compared to Jordan, which he was back in the day, and Quincey was making good arguments about Harper not being on Jordan’s level, which was also correct.

sheltwon3Participantthe argument on Quincey point was stupid because DHamp never said what Quincey was arguing about. Most of the argument was D Hamp telling Quincey that he did not say what Quincey was arguing about and that he had proof of what he said and the fact that it was right. I dont know Quincey but Quincey should have not jump to conclusions and just read what was said. That is why I made this topic because a lot of people do read they see something and start getting hype about something that was not said.

quincey hodgeshe said everyone on nbadraft.net agreed with him that harper was almost as good as jordan and that the concensous amoung nba players and announcers was that jordan was almost as good as jordan. thats where the arguement begus and i said prove it. tell me what nba players and announcers said that. he named cwebb and no other player and not one announcer then i said prove that everyone on here agrees with that statement as you said everyone does…so sheltwon you said he was right so which part of that was right?..where in that did i get emotional by just asking that question..dhamp went on from there calling me and other names and saying im a lier and dont know about basketball. is that not considered getting emotion?

GoJOSH HUESTISParticipanti have to say i agreed with quincy Sheltwon. dhamp didnt prove his points at all..the first point wasnt that he was comparable it was that harper was the first person ever compared to jordan and dhamp said he was and that he knew this for a fact. for one he cant know that for a fact seeing as there were players that played street ball that were being compared to jordan after jordans rookie year. the second was him agreeing with the post saying that harper was almost as good as jordan before his injury. how can a player be almost as good as jordan if he made zero all star teams, all nba teams, mvps, all defense first team, or any team etc?. the third point was after dhamp didnt agree with what quincey said he lied by saying everyone on this site agreed with him and that most of the nba players and announcers agreed with him. then he got even more mad and started name calling after quincey named 6 users who didnt agree with him. which conclusion did quincy jump too because each ting they argued about was what dhamp actually said
