L.ShapParticipantWhose better?
Check my latest podcast to hear my argument, feel free to express your opinion about my opinion. http://in-n-outnba.blogspot.com/0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 2:44pm #212964
QHaynes20we can discuss it on the podcast?
0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 2:48pm #212966
QHaynes2076erballer…I already put him near the GOAT. I think Durant can be that great
0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 2:48pm #212967
McWinningParticipantDurants the better player Roys the better leader.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 2:51pm #212968
QHaynes20so you would take Durant?
0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 2:52pm #212969

IndianaBasketballParticipantLol… Don’t even get Q started on that again.
They are both talented players, but with completely different games. Roy is better because he has a more complete/do it all/all around game, while Durant is pretty much just a scorer at this point. RIGHT NOW Roy is better.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 2:54pm #212970
McWinningParticipantyes. definetly its no contest the only thing Roy has over him is hes an amazing leader he turned a team or young guns into winners. right now its close but Durant will be much better in the future.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 2:55pm #212971

L.ShapParticipantIts all about durant just listen to the podcast
0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 2:56pm #212972
QHaynes20IMO, trade Roy for Durant and I think Portland would be better
0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 3:00pm #212974
McWinningParticipantno the blazers are too young they need a slightly older and more experienced player like Roy. it would help them in the future but hurt them now.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 3:02pm #212975

IndianaBasketballParticipantIdk about that… Roy does a lot more than just score. He has a complete game. He can shoot the 3P, mid-range, go off the dribble, play off the ball, catch and shoot, rebound, defend (on the ball, off the ball and in the post) post up and create for his teammates… Roy’s game isn’t as flashy as Durant’s, but he is the real deal. Portland has progessed and won almost 10+ more games every season since Roy was drafted. That’s why he’s a two-time All-Star.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 3:04pm #212976
QHaynes20I Rather have
Miller,Fernandez,Durant,Aldridge,Oden
then
Miller,Roy, Outlaw, Aldridge, Oden
that’s just me.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 3:07pm #212978
McWinningParticipanti dont know that lineup looks really young and unexperianced.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 3:09pm #212979

Meditated StatesParticipantbut that team needs Roy’s ball handling ability and passing skills to keep it from being a one man scoring team. With Durant he would be the scorer who can’t set up all the other guys. You need to spread the ball around on offense. Roy is whats best for them now at the current time. No one can create their own shot besides Roy. He is the key to that squad.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 3:13pm #212980
QHaynes20lol…how do you gain experience?
you play. I laugh to because you guys keep rating Roy like he has noone around him and his leadership makes them a playoff team.
Durant right now, is a top 10 player. I think he is a superstar 2 day. People forget that
A- After Kobe, the SG spot in the West is weak and that made Roy a 2 time all star
B- Durant should have been a all star last year
C- It took Roy 3 years to lead Portland to the playoffs and he wouldn’t have if Outlaw didn’t have a good season & Aldridge didn’t take another step in the right direction. Not saying Roy does nothing but, Those guys stepped up…dont forget.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 3:15pm #212981
McWinningParticipantdude Durant didnt even lead his team to many wins, sure he has help but you could see especially in the playoff that no one but him and Aldridge were ready to do much scoring and leading that team was experienced last year.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 3:16pm #212982

JNixonParticipantBrandon Roy is better. Kevin Durant is a scorer/shooter. Brandon Roy is better at every aspect except scoring/shooting.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 3:20pm #212983
QHaynes20like i said before…you guys go leadership over talent..
I’ll take the younger, taller, better player with a higher ceiling who can drop 25 a game weight under 220
over
the 25 year old leader who yea lead his team but we wont look at the fact he had good players around him
0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 3:21pm #212985
quincey hodgesdurant isnt a top 10 player right now..maybe after the season but i cant put him top 10..he didnt even make the all star team yet you think this past year he was a top 10 player?..wouldnt that mean he makes first or second team all nba this past year. i mean i like durant more but right now its roy. untill durant can lead his team to alot more wins and or playoffs then i just cant put him above roy. right now roy is the better leader
0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 3:24pm #212987
McWinningParticipanttalent? of course but that team was young. and Westbrook and Green are high talent too. dude you realize he won as many games as the Nuggets?
Blake, Batum, Aldridge, Pryzbilla,
vs
Billups, Jones, Martin,
and there benches are close its even debatable hes better than Carmelo as you can see hes a much worse scorer but a better leader.0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 3:28pm #212989
QHaynes20Thank you you made my case for me
dude you realize he won as many games as the Nuggets?
so he won them by himself?
0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 3:29pm #212990

JNixonParticipantIt’s not about potential and being tall in this question. If the question was whose the better long-term player, then I’d go Durant but the question was whose the better player. Roy is obviously better, he doesnt do anything worse than Durant except score/shoot the ball. It has nothing to do with leadership really at all to me.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 3:30pm #212992
McWinningParticipantwhich of those four would you choose?
0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 3:34pm #212993
QHaynes20what about Rudy?
0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 3:34pm #212994
McWinningParticipantwhat about Jr?
0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 3:36pm #212995
QHaynes20wait…your comparing the Blazers to Nuggets?
please…BLazers have more talent.
Oden, Rudy, Aldridge, Roy, Blake, Outlaw, Webster, Pryzbilla
come on…
0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 3:38pm #212996
McWinningParticipantdude the talent is close the Blazers have a better bench but thwe Nuggets have the better starting 5.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 3:39pm #212997

IndianaBasketballParticipantI think Roy is closer to being a top ten player than Durant at this point. This is easy… Long term it’s Durant, but right now… It’s Roy.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 3:40pm #212998
QHaynes20when healthy? no they dont
0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 3:41pm #212999
QHaynes20what is right now? Next season?
0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 3:42pm #213000
McWinningParticipantdude also didnt the Thunder do better when Durant was out? it might have been a coincidence.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 3:46pm #213001
QHaynes20im sorry, you dont know what ur talking about
0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 3:48pm #213003
QHaynes20now seriously…what is right now?
give me a time frame…..2010? 2011?
0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 3:49pm #213004
quincey hodgesportland wasnt better then denver this past year and i dont think they will be better this year.. even if some may think portland has more talent they dont have a better team. portland had better talent top to bottom then the spurs but the spurs were and still are( esspecially now) the better team
0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 3:49pm #213005
McWinningParticipantthey were 4-1 without him. i heard that on a radio show and thought it was longer that he was out 5 games doesnt count my bad.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 3:54pm #213009
QHaynes20…wow 5 games
0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 3:55pm #213010
McWinningParticipanti know i though it was more my bad. and also your superstar should get more than 2.8 assists.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 3:58pm #213011
QHaynes20yea…a 2nd year pro.
Listen…when are you gonna stop making excuses? he gives you 26points and 6 rebounds at age 20?
Stop nit picking
0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 3:59pm #213012
McWinningParticipantdude i know hes better for the future but right now Roy is better.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 4:00pm #213013
QHaynes20your a portland fan….that’s your player.
I rather have Durant.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 4:01pm #213014
QHaynes20If Durant could have came outta HS, he prob would have went higher in the 2006 draft….
0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 4:03pm #213016

IndianaBasketballParticipant26 points, 6 rebounds and how many wins? How many playoff appearances? As a matter of fact… What has Durant EVER won, other than individual awards? How many All-Star appearances?
You’re right though… He’s 20 years old and has the sky is the limit type potential. However, right now in the short term, as in the next 2-3 seasons… Brandon Roy is better.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 4:03pm #213017
McWinningParticipanti know he would have Roy was a steal out of the draft and Durant will be better for the future and wouldve been taken higher deservedly its just right now Roy is better.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 4:05pm #213019
QHaynes20Um…do me a favor
go look at the West’s forwards….too tough crack
w/e….you can take Roy, I rather have Durant….funny how you dont wanna nit-pick anymore.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 4:07pm #213020
McWinningParticipantlol ill nitpick if you want me too.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 4:08pm #213021
quincey hodgesyeah but we talking about the here and now qhaynes. and in the here and now roy has accomplished more. the mark of a truley elite player is leading youre team to at least the playoffs..now eventually durant will do that i have no doubt. an di actually like durant more. ive never been to fond of roy but i respect talent and always gives props to players that show me. which is why im not quick like most on here to jump on the next best this like a highschooler. anyway durant (in my opinion) will eventually be the better player. and maybe this year he may prove it
0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 4:10pm #213022

IndianaBasketballParticipantIf I’m not mistaken, hasn’t Durant been listed as a guard/forward the last two seasons? He was eligible to make the All-Star team as a guard or forward.
Regardless… I’m not for those excuses. The fans didn’t vote him in as a starter and his peers didn’t vote him in as a reserve. There are players who put up great individual numbers on bad teams every year. Look at Al Jefferson last season. If Durant is the superstar and top ten player you say he is, then next season he’ll lead his team to at least 10-15 more wins.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 4:13pm #213002

IndianaBasketballParticipantRight now is right now… September 16, 2009… 9:42 PM. Roy is better than Durant. I see no reason why this won’t be the case after this upcoming season either. One guy will be leading his team and taking his all-around game to the playoffs, while the other guy will be at home watching… Preparing for the lottery again. Durant is an exciting great individual scorer at this point… That’s all.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/16/2009 - 4:43pm #212965

Meditated StatesParticipantI think is well on his way to being one of the most devastating scorers in this league for a long time. Roy is a more do it all type of player who gives you 20 plus everynight. Roy handles the ball better, is the better passer and plays better man to man. With all that said. I see Durant only getting better he is pretty damn young and killing dudes already. I go with KD.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 09/17/2009 - 12:41am #213066

japhonzaParticipantim going with ROY all day
0 - Posted on: Thu, 09/17/2009 - 12:57am #213067

the_shamwow_guyParticipantAlthough Kevin Durant is a more prolific scorer and has the potential to be one of the great scorers of the game Brandon Roy has a better overall game. The thing that mainly made me choose Roy was his superior Defense it makes me go shamWOW
0 - Posted on: Thu, 09/17/2009 - 2:49am #213082

TyroberParticipantreally enjoyed your podcast bud. good job and points
0 - Posted on: Thu, 09/17/2009 - 4:03am #213091

Henry25Participantwhoever thinks that Durant is just a scorer doesn’t know what they are talking about. 6rpg and 3apg in only his second year is pretty impressive. I see him eventually challenging LeBron for the best player in the game once Kobe retires. I thin Durant is the most complete scorer in recent memory and is going to continue to get better at rebounding, passing, and defense. I think this year his averages will be close to 28ppg, 8rpg, 4assts, 1 block, and 1 steal per game. This guy is a very complete player but people only pay attention to his scoring because he is so damn good at it
0 - Posted on: Thu, 09/17/2009 - 7:59am #213119
quincey hodgesi just dont see him challenging lebrong due to the fact lebron is a physicall beast as well as a much better passer. they may eventually even out as far as scoring but if lebron gets a consitant jumper( very possible) then the gap widens. lebron is a walking triple double. durant will still become a great and complete player but lebron is just on a level unmatched as far as potenial.
