Beasley or Randolph

Long term… I’m going with Randolph. Beasley has the more complete game right now, but Randolph has way more potential in my opinion. For starters, Randolph has no off the court issues and I hear he has an amazing work ethic. He plays with passion and he’s just hungry. Give me Randolph.

I’d take Randolph. You can tell he’s a hard worker by looking at how much stronger he is and looks since last year. It shows he knew he had to get stronger physically, and he put in work to get there. He also played like he had a match lit underneath him in summer league and I dont see that changing anytime soon. Now I love Beasley and as a Kstate fan, he really is an unbelieveable talent on offense. But Randolph shows more long term potential and he has some of the best talents in the game regardless of position. Randolph could be a premier player in the NBA in a few years, sooner than later.

Randolph has the potential to dominate on both sides of the ball. Once he improves his awareness and gets more experience, he’ll be able to use his length and quickness to get plenty of blocks and steals. It doesn’t look like he has the frame to bulk up to 240 without losing explosiveness, but neither does Kevin Durant. I’m not comparing the two, I’m just saying you don’t need to be super-strong to be an all-star caliber NBA player.Like quincey said, you can’t tell much from summer league, but his ball-handling and shooting skills seem like they’re coming along nicely. I really like the Odom comparison, and I hope Randolph brings a more consistent effort than Odom has during his career.

As for Beasley, he has the potential to become a nearly unstoppable scorer. However, his defense needs serious work, and one can only wonder how much his defense can actually improve. His athleticism is similar to Anthony’s, in that it’s more “smooth” than “explosive”. At 6’8, he’s a little bit short for the power forward position, and he doesn’t have the lateral quickness to guard small forwards on a nightly basis. He can put up 23+ ppg, but he might give up just as many. Of course, he should get his head on straight before he steps on the court again, but that’s a topic for another time.

defense can always improve because its about will and going hard. youre defense can be elite if you add in the fact that you have athletisim. its up to the player if he wants to be a better defender..when lebron decided to put more energy into defense it got much much better..same with carmelo when he decided to play some defense. beasley is still young so i wont really worry awhole lot about the problems hes having at this stage , add to the fact that he seeked help and john lucas is helping hi i think he will be ok. his potenial was and still is very very high the only question is will he reach it and i think he will..i also think anthony has potenial but i think hes not as far along as some people on the hype bus think since he didnt do anything different in this sumer leauge that he did last summer leauge

Michael Beasley isnt very quick though, especially laterally so I dont ever think he’ll be anything more than average. And thats a best case scenario. Last year even when he tried he made retarded mistakes, but I think as he realizes player tendencies the mistakes will be limited. But he will still be a limited defender no matter what from what I see because he isnt quick enough to slide and stay in front.

Iggy said it perfectly in both of his posts. Some hater who hates to hear the truth gave him negatives, but I gave him plus one’s because I can appreciate good posts with good points.

Summer league is not enough. I know Beasley can give me big scoring nights right now. He already has. Hopefully he gets his head together.

If we are say for this year I will go with Randolph because he can do more but is not as polished but his work ethic will allow that all to come. Barring an injury Randolph is tops over Beasley who is talented but you can only go so far with talent in the NBA.

Jeez…People, stop overrating Randolph…He has yet to find a true position (well either does Beasley, but at least he is effective) in the NBA. People forget what a talent Beasley is…Yes, Randolph has more length, but Beasley is way stronger and has a complete offensive game…Randolph has a nice future, but he will never be a top-10 player in the league…EVER!

that was well put…the thing i keep seeing is what randolph might do in the future..i also dont agree with someone saying he is a richmans lamar odom.seeing as theres was zero doubt that lamar could play the 3 or 4 and did work from day one. beasley has wayyy more weapons then randolph has now and is only gonna get better just like randolph

Beasley could turn things around but I’ll take Randolph. More upside, fits a position better (better length) and at this point you would have to say he’s more committed.

Where is all this Anthony Randolph hype coming from? He is pretty much the consensus pick for MIP this year from both the media, and the humble posters on this site.

Beasley avg around 20 and 7/8 in last month of the season, he will do it this season, and he could become forst player after DUncan in 2002 avg 25+10!
Randolph is also beast, he has potential to be next KG, everyone fall in love with him after SL, but i know he is very very good just after season, 8ppg6rpg over 1bpg in just 18minutes it’s huge numbers, he was second best rookie after Love in efficiency this season
