torontoraptors10ParticipantThere is a potential trade out there for the Raptors. It could possibly happen. Just thought I should put it out there.
The Toronto Raptors are considering a trade of Marcus Banks to the Dallas Mavericks for Matt Carroll, according to league sources.
The discussions are currently in their preliminary stage.
Carroll has four years left on his contract, he’ll make $4.7 million this season, $4.3 million in 2010-11, $3.9 million in 2011-12 and $3.5 million in 2012-13.
Banks has $4.53 million this year and $4.8 million in 2010-11 remaining on his current contract.

R-Dot-13ParticipantColangelo is doing a ton this offseason, good for them.
I like this, gives us a sharpshooter to replace Kapono who is a Sixer now.0 - Posted on: Wed, 08/19/2009 - 8:16am #202875

torontoraptors10ParticipantHere is the link if anyone needs sources.
I also like this trade for the Raptors. Colangelo has completely updated this roster for the better. We traded Kapono for Evans which gives toughness and rebounding. We get Derozan who will has the potential be star player and Antoine Wright who will bring depth to our bench and play SG/SF. We swapped Devean George for Bellinelli, which is a huge steal IMO. Then we swap seldom-used Marcus Banks for Carroll who can give us the same effect as Kapono on a deep bench that the Raptors already have.
It’s great to be a Raptor fan.

QHaynes20Lateral move IMO.
Carrol wont make much impact. He can shoot but he is a bad defender and a bad rebounder and passer.

McWinningParticipantMatt Carolls actually a decent player hes a sg-sf and he scored 10 pts a game with the Bobcats before he got traded and hasnt gotten playing time since. hes another posible pick for suprise breakout player.

QHaynes20Dallas and Toronto making deals this year.
Banks will be a 3rd PG and Carroll will be a 3rd SG….little impact

gatorheelsParticipantStupid move by the Raptors. Carroll shouldn’t get any playing time on any team. Why take on a contract that has an extra 2 years on it? Toronto already has plenty of shooters. Carroll will just sit on the bench for 4 years while making too much money in the process.

QHaynes20I agree

McWinningParticipantyeah i think Carrolls a decent player but what they really need is a bigman.

R-Dot-13ParticipantYeah he is, you dont know him?
This should be our lineup if the trade goes through
PG: Calderon, Jack,
SG: Belinelli, Derozan, Carroll,
SF: Turkoglu, Wright, Carroll
PF: Bosh, Evans, Johnson
C: Bargnani, RashoRes: Weems, Douby, O’Bryant
Tell me if you think im wrong on something.

gatorheelsParticipantCarroll was like the 4th string SG for the Mavs last season. All I know is Toronto better be getting a future draft pick out of this deal too or else they are getting robbed. Any team willing to pay 4-5 million a year for the next 4 years for Matt Carroll is not thinking straight.

McWinningParticipantit was with Charlette that he was decent, and then they signed him to a big contract and he hasnt done anything since then.

torontoraptors10ParticipantI agree with you about the extra contract years but with what Birdzilla said, he may have another breakout year if he is given playing time. But remember everything is preliminary so other pieces might be added.

doubledribblerParticipantI agree that they need a big man. Somebody that can come in, block shots, rebound and defend. They aren’t likely to get a guy that can do all of those, so 2 out of 3 would be good. The Carrol trade seems pointless from Toronto. Belinelli is a better overall player and I don’t see him taking time from Derozan. From Dallas it is probably a way to reduce future payroll since Banks has less years. He’ll probably be used in a trade when he is on his last year.

ZaratukParticipantI’mn not sure they will resign him since they just got Amir Johnson, but i wish they will because Pop is a banger/energy guy ala Brandon Bass and this is what they are looking for right?
