MJ really the best?

I think M.J. is the Greatest, some can make a case for Wilt, and honestly ive seen a few that have surpassed him skill wise or could have over the years it’s just things havent worked out for them. MJ yes for now , but I don’t think he will always be the Greatest Kids nowadays have sooooo much untapped potential

You are entitled to your own opinion but Michael Jordan is the best basketball player ever. In mj prime nobody could stop him defense is better in the league now i think but the detriot bad boys use to kill jordan he still finsh with like 45 points on him. Aint nobody better than jordan because nobody works hard like him while people were out clubbing he was working on his jumpshot and jordan is known worldwide. I bet u got kids in Iraq who has no clue about basketball but know who he is. Do yall know len bias he’s probably before all of our time but he was great and use to kill jordan when they played each other un college he had a better jumper the jordan back then and his game was more developed than jordans back then but he died from a cocaine overdose. M.J. was dominating WITH the hand-checking rule, which allowed defenders to stick a hand out in front of them and keep that hand on the ball-handler. It’s scary to think what he could do without that rule.

MJ was not just a pure scorer, he wasn’t as much of a playmaker as Magic because he was a 2 guard instead of a pg, but for a shooting guard Michael averaged about 5 and half assits for his career and his season high was over 8. He got his teammates involved, but he was such an effective scorer, of course he took a lot of shots and put up big numbers

1-Jordan was the greatest ever. Kobe and Lebron do have a chance to catch up in the next 5-8 years.

2-Magic was absolutely awful on defense. He did’nt even pretend to play defense, and even all the LA sportswriters from back in the day admit that.

3-the hand checking rule gets overblown on here all the time. It was not that big a deal. Guys were not allowd to hold or grab anymore then they are today, And if the offensive player was faster and had better moves, putting a hand on them is’nt gonna help a whole heck of a lot.

Jordan is overrated and I’m not even saying hes not the greatest basketball player ever he could possibly be but most people think its not even a discussion but I think Magic, Kareem, and Wilt need to be right there with him. Jordan may well be the best all time but Magic because of his versatility (he could have been a top 5 player at any position) Kareem because of his longevity was unheard of for a big man 19 time all star who went to 4 years of college and he didnt drop below 20 ppg til he was almost 40 and was shooting an extremely high percentage the whole time. And Wilt because he was just so dominate at one point in time. I think those 4 players are 1 A-D with noone else ever being at there level.

NBA basketball has become SOFT players arent allowed nearly as much physical play as when Jordan played…. What they call for fouls now is a joke and some flagrant fouls they call are laughable… Hand checking makes a huge diffrence with how the games is played….

Everyone is talking about hand checking. That is a big deal. There are a lot of guys that once you play physical with them that it starts to bother them. I don’t care how fast you are. If you are not going full speed and I can get an arm or hand up on you then I am going to slow you down and it allows me to wear you down over the course of a game. Guys like Vince Carter, Monta Ellis, McGrady, even Lebron would not look as good if you saw hand checking. There are some really soft guys in the league especially perimeter players that hate to be hit or touched. I guarantee there would be some guys that would not even make an attempt to shoot.

I agreee that he is the best ever, but it kind of annoys me that people get so angry when people think someone will be better than him. Someone will eventually replace him and i wouldnt be suprised if it’s sooner rather than later. Also Kareem is undderated in my book. He is easily number 2 to MJ. But I think LeBron might one day surpass him if he wins enough, and this is coming from a Kobe lover. Kobe wont cath him just because he doesnt have enough time. But when Kobe is done i wold put im in the top 5 no doubt. THERE WERE A LOT OF GREAT NBA PLAYERS

Wilt dominated against guys that were much smaller than him. Back then, the only guy that was even close to him in terms of height and grace was Russell. Night in and night out, he played against skinny 6’5 centers without having to worry about three second calls. All he had to do was stand 2 feet in front of the hoop, catch the ball and drop it in. Literally.

but to still do what he was doing was amazing. He led the NBA in assist one season.

I don’t know who I hate more MJ or Reggie, they both waxed the Knicks back in the days. But you can’t deny greatness, MJ is the greatest to ever throw on a uniform hands down period. You can go down the list of HOF who did not win a chip because of MJ and Da Bulls. And we all know why The Dream and Clyde got a sniff, and if Charles Smith could put the cot damn ball in the basket the Knicks could have made some noise, but I digress. By the way his defense is just world class, how many superstars in the NBA today play that kind of ferocious D of all 4 quarters? Even though AI left that ass wondering what just happened! HA! Kareem only played against Wilt for three years. As for the other guys, Wilt still had 4-6 inches on them, not to mention a longer reach and more strength. They could compete with him on a good night, but they still couldn’t stop him.

wilt dominated his era and put up numbers that are mind boggling and will probably never be duplicated. But I just can’t put a guy from his era as the best ever. It was a different game back then. Lots of guys were grabbing 30+ rebounds, shots were far more frequent while defense was no where close to where it is today. You would think a guy putting up 50 ppg and 25 rpg would be able to win more games then he did or compete for titles if he was so dominant over the league, but he did’nt until he got traded to play with other great players.

yes mj needed pip. But my point was that his 50 and 25 numbers were not as dominant as people make them out since he was’nt competing for titles. If people are gonna say someone was the most “dominant”, then they need to be at least competing for titles. People did’nt start calling MJ the most dominant until after he started competing for titles.

Wilt is very high on this list and top 10 for sure, but I just can’t call a guy from his era the best ever. He would not be a superstar in todays NBA. Jordan would.

I disagree, Wilt was an Olympic high jump champion, he was massively strong , and he overpowered everyone and could finish over anyone in the paint. Isn’t that how Dwight Howard gets his 20 and 14 every game without having close to the post-up game Wilt had?Im sure if we had a 7-1 ,275, 40 lus inch vert prospect in Wilt in this era he would have adjusted.

I think he could adjust and play today, but how can you predict he would be a superstar. The level of competition was nowhere near where it is today in the 60’s and 70’s. He had a great finger roll because he would back his way in deep and just turn and drop it in over helpless defenders. You honestly think he is gonna just drop finger rolls over todays bigs? He had no amazing post moves ala Olajuwon. He could’nt shoot from the perimeter. He could’nt hit free throws. He was just a physical beast playing in an era where the game was still evolving. There were very 7 footers, and the ones that were, had very little skill/athleticism. Bill Russell was dominating guys and he was only 6-9 220 lbs. There might be only a handful of guys from the 60’s and 70’s that could play today, and none of them would be superstars. I don’t see how somone could watch those games and honestly disagree with that.

To me, Wilt was Shaq before Shaq.

M. Jordon is and always will be the greatest no question 6 for 6 in the finals and they would have won 8 in a row if he hadnt retired. And about Wilt I dont think that he would have dominated if he played in this era first off he was a lot bigger than just about everyone in the NBA back then there wasnt many 7 footer playing back when he played and the players today are stronger and faster and they are way more atheletic than back in the day.

I don’t think he would dominate like he did, but what does Dwight Howard have that Wilt did not?
