This is too easy of a question, people need to stop the Kobe-Jordan comparisons for a few years. We all know Jordan is the best and Kobe is great, but not Jordan great.

Good post lol. Kobe has probably been the NBA’s best clutch player since Jordan retired, but this is easy for me… I’m going with MJ all day. Not only could MJ sink the buzzer beater, he could also make the RIGHT PASS.

Let’s make this fair. If I’m choosing for todays current game/style then its easily Kobe. Remember all the scrubs that used to guard Jordan back in the day, his two most famous shots are over guys who are below average athletes. I can’t think of a single time when Kobe was guarded by a less than average athlete. Jordan was great in his era, but you guys act like he put up these numbers against guys with similar athleicism. Each year that goes bye, Jordans legacy/legendary status expands to a new level, because you guys keep thinking he would dominate TODAYS game like he would his own era. Todays “average athlete” at the two would be more athletic than 90 percent of Jordans era, that should mean something to any of you who actually play and understand the game. Me personally, I would much rather have a more inteligent lesser athlete guarding me, rather than a guy who is more athletic than me guarding me. Whatever though, you guys keep living in fantasy land, thats obvisously what makes you happy.

In that case, I think its harder to get a shot off when the hand check rule is in place and when does athleticism make a person a good defender??? Thats why players that come in the league lack basketball intelligence (especially on the defense side of the ball) because they think that they can get away with just being a good/great athlete…. Maybe you arent old enough to have watched the physical brand of basketball played in the late 80’s and early 90’s…..

Plus one Billyk… I agree. IMO the players are more athletic today, but not as smart. They lack a lot of fundamentals and awareness. Jordan was not only explosive and athletic… He was SMART. He knew a player’s defensive tendencies better than they did.
