Then you got Yao, he counts, right?
I still consider Al Jefferson a PF, but with KLove at PF, he’ll play some C, so ill say him
Shaq is still effective, so, he’ll be number 4
and most underrated guy playing today, I’ll say Andres Beidris (sp?) is 5

Don’t forget Mehmet Okur of the Jazz. This guy can stretch the defense and take his defender to the 3 point line. He’s a decent rebounder as well. Top 10:

Brook Lopez will rise up this list. Pau Gasol and Tim Duncan could be considered centers as well but they’ve played PF for most of their careers. Amare and Yao both have injury concerns so we’ll see what happens with them.

you cant rank oden on this..are we talking about now or future..if we talking now then it has to be howard,yao, then in no order..al jefferson,shaq,mhmet (prob number 3)…before injury bynum would be considered seeing as he was actually close to making the all star team before he got hurt

Brook Lopez should be up there as a center dude only issue is rebounding and he can work on that. Dude got post moves, perimeter shooter, and defense. He may enter top 5 after this year.

Howard – probably the most physically imposing center today
Yao – when healthy, he competes with Howard as the best center in the league
Jefferson – best post moves for a center
Shaq – one of the greatest centers in history, enough said
Bargnani – best handles and shooting for a center, excelled when started as C
Nene – efficient scorer, shooting % speaks for itself
Okafor – one of the best defensive centers in the league
Bogut – good passer, solid rebounder and scorer
Lopez – efficient, fundamentally sound ala Duncan
Oden – defensive center, w/ Pryzbilla, they are a twin headed defensive monster
Biedrins – underrated center, lanky and strong rebounder
Lee – double double machine
Okur – sweet shooting, also a good passer

Unlike the old days, there aren’t many true centers in the NBA. Majority of you have Dwight as the top center, but I disagree. I may get negative points, but I think when healthy… Yao Ming is the best center in basketball.

The reason is because you can run an offense through Yao. You can’t do that with Dwight. Right now, Dwight is more of a defender and rebounder. He’s very inconsistent on the offensive end, especially at the free-throw line. As Kareem Abdul-Jabar said during the NBA Finals, “Dwight is a very predictable player right now.” That’s why the Lakers were able to expose him. You don’t have that problem with Yao. He’s great in the low post and high post. He can bang you, face you up or shoot the turn around jumper. He’s also patient and an excellent passer out of the double teams. He’s probably the best free-throw shooting center I’ve ever seen. His shooting range extends to the 3P line. He’s the total package on the offensive end. He’s also a respectable rebounder and defender.

For this reason, I’d rank him above Dwight at this point. That’s just my opinion.

didn’t Dwight struggle against yao during the season?

yao is done???..lol..thats news to me..how about we wait and see before making that statement. i always find it funny when fans read stories that say maybe about a player then try to pass it on as fact

Tyson Chandler. Definitely not a top 5 center but can be considered in the 6-10 category. Can play defense and rebounds and used to play well with CP3 in new orleans and will have a bigger offensive role in Charlotte. Most of the top centers play in the west and he can be considered the 3rd best in the East behind Dwight and Shaq. Al Horford also plays center with Atlanta. This guy is tough inside and in a couple of years will be all-star potential.

tyson chandler has no offensive moves and is not a offensive player so im pretty sure his role will be diminished on offense considering the fact he no long has one of the best set up men in the nba on his team
