When Ricky Rubio comes over here, to the States, What are you all’s expectations for him? Rookie Season? In his Prime? Honestly, in your opinion. For all the hype and stuff we have gone through involving him. What are you expectations for Ricky Rubio? Statwise, Awards, Anything.

I don’t think Rubio will be a big deal in the nba. Maybe like a Calderon.

I don’t think too many people have a real good idea of what he will do in the league. He has all the tools to be an all-star caliber player, but he has a slow set shot which is gonna be hard to get off against nba defenses. I really have no idea what to expect from him.

Rookie: 6ppg, 6apg, 2rpg, and like d-grizz said, low shooting percentages

    Prime: 15ppg, 12apg,2rpg, 2spg

He’ll get some all-star appearances, i think his first few seasons will be dissapointments, so im kind of expecting a MIP award sometime in his career

It’s way too hard to predict, nobody has any idea they are just guessing. He’s too young to ever really know if he will develop a good shot he could end up for his career averaging 12 ppg as a starter or 22. who knows?!?

I think he could average about 7 ppg, 5 assts, 1 stl when he’s young (1-3 yrs), and then in his prime he’ll put up about 15 ppg, 10 assts, 1 stl.

Don’t forget that at one point he in arguement with Blake Griffin for who would be #1. He’s got skill. It’s just the intangibles that are going wrong. I think he could be an 18 and 12 guy easy. Never a good scorer but very crafty. Think nash without the rainbow J

What rank do you all expect him to be?
    Top 5/10 Player?
    Top Point Guard?
    Top 5/10 Point Guard?
18 and 12? What did Nash average during his MVP years?
I’m expecting 18-20 Points, 10-12 Assists, 3-5 Rebounds, 2 Steals, 2 Turnovers, 45-52% from the Field, 40-46% from Three, and 85 or above at the line.

Rookie: I think he will be a 8 pts and 5 assists guy with lots of TOs. He will have to adapt to the nba, and will need to improve and quicken his shot, but he will run the pick and roll well.
Prime: he will get maybe 15 points and 8-9 assists. I think it puts too much pressure to expect 12 assists. Very few point guards get that. Nash got that a few years, but but that was on a very good and fast Suns team.

I know I said it is hard to gauge Rubio at this point, but those would be amazing mvp numbers that you are predicting for him. You honestly “expect” him to potentially put up 20 points, 12 assists, 5 rebounds, 2 steals, 52% from field, 46% from 3 and have an 6-1 assist to turnover ratio? I know those were your top possible numbers, but if you are “expecting” that, then you really are a fan of his. I don’t anticipate those type of numbers from anyone who is 18 years old and unproven. It’s possible, but to say you hionestly expect it is really over hyping the guy.

I really am a big fan of him and want him to achieve because I believe thats what people want from him and if he doesn’t do it then I think he will be called a bust or underachieved. I just want him to succeed so people will stop hating on him so much, I put the least and best, I know it’s alot. Hopefully he can come through for all of his fans that have taking much heat for defending and supporting him. Still…I know I am expecting alot. If he can put that up all in one season, the percentages are just I expect him to finish at the rim alot or stay in close and his 3 Point % will stay high because I doubt he’ll take a whole bunch of shots. The rebounds may be crazy, but that’s just one year. Sorry if I seem, illogical as well as having no knowledge for the game.

you had no knowledge of the game. Those numbers are possible, but that would be an absolutley best case secenario, and it’s pretty hard to expect those numbers from him at this point. I wish him well as well, but even if he put up lesser numbers then those, he could still be an awesome player and not be considered a bust.

dude basketball IQ is too good and also with his size, no way he is a bust worst case scenario for me would be Caulderon. He would have to get hurt to be worst than Benu and Benu is not a bad 2nd point guard and i believe Rubio defense and playmaking is better than Benu right now.

I think a lot will depend on his mental toughness…

His first few years in the league I predict a lot of turnovers and some time on the bench because of said turnovers. Rubio is a very flashy player but some of his moves won’t fool guys in the NBA.

So does he adjust and respond? or does he sulk?

Yea, you have to question just how tough he is mentally, because of how he is acting. Im believing its just because he’s young that he’s acting this way, and he doesnt become a 25 year old complaining about where he wants to play. I think he will have to make adjustments because (like someone said) alot of his moves wont fool guys in the NBA, his game is pretty gimmicky right now. But he does have talent, and if he makes adjustments to his game, and gets stronger, he will put up above average numbers

There weren’t any quotes from Rubio in that article.

I meant Rubio complaining about playing in Minny, you know. I may be missing something but I think people are just making up things about him.

I’ve never actually heard him say anything, but I’ve heard plenty of speculation on the radio’s about him complaining about cities. It’s one thing to try and use some pull before the draft to dictate where you go, but at this point he should be ready to just play wherever.

I’m getting tired of defending him but he still has a buyout to pay. $6.6 million I believe. If he plays for a different international team they can pay for more or all of his buyout than the T-Wolves, who can only pay $500,000. He would only be making $2,724,300 dollars gross in his NBA rookie season. Take out taxes and that leaves 4-5 million dollars to be payed from endorsments alone. It’s a tough situation for him.

Iggy don’t buy the hype. Give the kid a break. What would you do in his situation?

I would get an endorsement deal and pay the buyout. And I would be happy to be in the NBA, so I would play for whoever drafted me.

He would be taing a risk. It’s not written in stone that he would get 4-5 million dollars in endorsments. It’s possible but not absolute.

That wouldnt be a risk. Just make sure your endorsement covers more than the buyout. Thats like no risk involved at all…

    I think Rubio 1st season will be something like this: 11ppg, 3rpg, 6apg, .9 spg, 35% from 3, 40% from 2
    in his prime- 18ppg, 4rpg, 9apg,2spg

Hmmm.. He’s young but he can play though I think his game is more at the european level than the NBA… He is going to have a hard time adjusting, he’s gonna kiss some ass, he’s gonna get his ankles break by the Pauls, the Williams, the Rose’s and the Rondos…, he’s gonna get intimidated by the veterans who won’t let an 18 year old just take over them, but I think he’ll be good and solid but that’s all… He’s not a Pete Maravich player… I was kinda laughing when the scouts compared him to such a terrific scorer…

rookie average = 12 – 6apg, 3 rpg. poor shooting averages, ok free throws.

if he ever becomes an allstar…an amazing point guard, like he’s hyped to be..

his prime averages will be, 18ppg, 11apg, 4rpg, 2spg, 45-47%FG, 38-41% -3pt, and good at the free throws.

awards….maybe a few allstar games….maybe nba assist leader one time in his career
