the mvp race will be just like last year with Lebron wade and Kobe seperating themselves from everyone else. Kobe will have the worst stats because he will have more help and play less minutes just like last year, but the lakers could approach 70 wins if everything goes right and that would certainly put him into the discussion. LeBron is my pick though once again.

I think that it will be a 5 person race this year between James, Bryant, Wade, Howard and Duncan. Outside shots are Roy, Durant, Nowitzki, Paul, Carmelo and Granger.

not wining MVP guaranteed for the simple fact that his team has to much scoring power. With Gosal, atrest, odam, bynum, and other role players he is not having season like past. Dont get me wrong hes stll one of my favorite player but not winning mvp, barring injuries on that team causing him to carry.

You think CP3 is going to win it. His team is going to struggle to make to playoffs. Meanwhile, LBJ and Kobe will be leading their teams to close to 70 wins. I just dont see it. It has to be bias because you have to see the same thing i am seeing. If not, then you are bias towards CP3 or the Hornets, or you just wanted someone like me to call you out so you can spark an arguement about how CP3 deserves it and how is team is going to contend for the top 2 seeds int he playoffs, both of which, i wont talk about with you. So HA!

The MVP award always goes to the team’s best player given their win/loss record. We aren’t going to see no A-Rod winning an MVP while playing for the Texas Rangers crap in the NBA that’s for sure.

Let’s look at the last 5 recipients:
2008/2009: Lebron James (66-16 Best record NBA)
2007/2008: Kobe Bryant (Lakers 57-25 1st in West, 2nd in NBA)
2006/2007:Dirk Nowitzki (Mavs 67-15 Best record NBA)
2005/2006: Steve Nash (Suns 54-28 3rd in West, 3rd in NBA)
2004/2005: Steve Nash (Suns 62-20 Best record NBA)
    2003/2004:Kevin Garnett (Twolves 58 -24 1st in the West, 2nd in NBA)

it wasnt me who gave you negatives i’ll promise you that.
Id also like to say I am not a Hornets fan, I am a raptors/thunder fan.

Paul and the Hornets are going to surprise you this year.
If they stay healthy they will definitely be a top 4 team in the west, and if you dont believe me wait and see for yourself.
Paul too the injury filled hornets to the playoffs last year.
I think the hornets finish at least top 3 in the west with the spurs and lakers.
They have Paul (superstar) and West who is a 2 time all star PLUS they just added a double double threat and shotblocker Emeka Okafor.
Along with Peja and Butler they will have a great starting 5.
You cannot say they will struggle to get to the playoffs with those players.
Paul will have his usual numbers of 20 ppg 10 apg, and also be good on the defensive end. He’s a huge triple double threat also and should have a high number of rpg for a pg.
The Hornets will will over 60 games this year lead by Chris Paul.
So they will have that team success that you are talking about that you need to win an MVP.

Dang. I was right about everything except you giving me the negatives and I apologized for that. Sry. But I love Chirs Paul. I kind of like the Hornets. I like their bench (Collison, Posey, Thompson, Wright, Marks, and the Uconn guy) but i dont think they will pull it together. Peja and Butler are better suited for the bench but they have to start. West and Okafor are vastly undersized for the West. The bench is deep but nobody can score. Really, if they are going to win 60 games, Paul will have to average 30, 15, 8, and 3 steals. I dont see it. Sry man. I like your positive attitude tho.

I could not agree with you more. I think CP3 will win the MVP this year. Mark my words, he will be one of the greatest point guards of all time.

As you can see, his PPG has gone up every year, along with FG%. I really believe with the addition of Emeka Okafor, they can rise as a top 4 team in the Western Conference. Chris Paul has the will and desire of an MVP, he works hard and pushes his teammates to the limit. IMO, Okafor is an upgrade over Chandler. I think Tyson was just used for alley-oops and grab rebounds and play defense. I think Emeka could do that, plus more. He has a decent post game, obviously better than Chandler. Team that with David West (who is an all-star) they are a team to reckon with. If healthy, they are a team who can suprise everybody in the play-offs. I think Paul Averages 23.6ppg, 5.8 rpg, 12.2 apg, and 2.5 spg. He is the MVP of the league this upcoming season.

i was actually wondering who gave you the negatives.

anyways, i just seriously see this happening.
they nearly won 60 games 2 years ago, in a year when IMO Paul should have won the award over Kobe (Kobe should have won his 1st when he averaged 35 ppg)
Now they have upgraded over Chandler IMO with Okafor who is definetly a good shotblocker and rebounder .
He is a little undersized in the West at 6’10, along with David West, but he is still able to rebound the ball well for his size.
West should definetly help Chris out with scoring, probably around 20 ppg. He should also et 8-9 rpg.
That, and CP3’s 20 + ppg, 10 + apg, and 2-3 spg, i definetly think they will be top 3 in the west.

You have a convincing arguement but they never seem to pull it all together. The would need Butler to play out of his mind, Peja to have great shooting year, leaps and bounds in growth from Wright, instant action from Collison, and Marks or Armstrong to be able to spell Okafor and West without slipping much. On top of that, Paul would have to be great, which he will, West will have to keep up his production, and Okafor will have to get like 14, 10 and 2 blocks a game. I just dont see all of that happening althought i hope it will.

    thanks baller03 for agreeing.

i know the west is a tough conference but i just dont see teams like (portland, dallas, denver) finishing ahead of the hornets this year, I can see the Hornets surprising everyone. I think if any of those teams finish ahead of NO it will be Portland, but i just dont see it happening.

No problem. I also feel the same way, the Hornets will be top 4 in the West next year. Dallas and Denver will not be better than the Hornets, and Portland will be a solid 6 or 7 seed. FutureOfthegame, i dont think ALL of those things need to happen for NO to be a top 4 team in the West…

that wins are overrated in MVP races. I understand they play a part, but as long as you win half your games, then a players performance should speak for itself. Kobe was straight robbed that year he dropped 35.5 ppg and was first team defense while leading a Laker team that started Odom, Kwame, Smush and Walton to 45 wins. Everyone knew he was the best that year. He dropped 81 in a game. He alone outscored the Mavs through 3 quarters in a game, it was Mavs 61- Kobe 62 to start the 4th. He averaged 41 points for the month of January. And not only did he not win the award, but he finished 4th, lol.

I agree, Peja may start on other teams, but Butler may not, but Peja is still one of the best shooters in the game, and can score points in bunches with his jumper. He did hit 10 threes in one game last season.
I think if they could have gotten an upgrade at the 2 in the offseason, they could possibly be a #2 seed, but i definetly dont think the #3 seed is out of reach

Yea, Peja can shoot but he cant D up any SF in the league. I think they may have gotten an upgrade in Thornton or Thompson or whatever his name is. Butler would ride the bench most other places.
