I’ve seen posts like this before, but I found some cool new vids. Since he plays in Charlotte not many people get to see how good his all around game is. Check this out and then think–if he can stay healthy and the Bobcats continue to improve….can be be an All-Star?

Also, one of my favorite dunks of all time is at the very end of this video when Wallace was on the Kings and he tries to jump over a 7ish footer:

I agree. Last year he played the best ball of his career–which is what the first vid is all from. He’s got 4-5 years of getting better each year so if he’s going to do it expect it soon!

He is the no.1 option on a bad team and can only average 16ppg, Danny Granger and Kevin Martin are in similar situations, for bad teams and average 20+, he is injury-prone and Larry Briwns slow system doesnt showcase him well enough, and if you think he’s going to be an all-star look at the other SF’s in the East-LeBron,Pierce, Granger, Hedo, Josh Smith(should play the 3), Wilson Chandler, Thad Young, Deng, etc…

I have seen them all. Did you watch the video? Yea, he’s injury prone because he plays so hard, but last year was a transition year. Don’t be surprised if he gets his 20+ next year. Team chemistry man. They were a lot of changes on the team last year and lots of new guys.

Gerald is awesome to watch live at the Bobcats’ arena. Within 10 feet of the basket, he is a mix of Dr. J, Jordan, Dominique, and LeBron. Seriously.

Diamond in the ruff, no doubt. Notice in the vid he’s blocking the shots of “good” players. I love the scene that shows Jordan’s face after one of his thunderous dunks.

We’re talking about a rare guy who managed 2+ blocks per game AND 2+ steals per game a few seasons back, while being a solid scorer. Maybe he doesn’t quite have the perimeter moves to be an All-Star SF, but man, if more true basketball fans saw him, they’d fall in love with his effort and highlight-reel play.

His shot has been coming along too. He’s up to 30% from 3. If he can get to 35% for a season he might be all-star material.

He might be the most athletic SF in the East (maybe the league?). That includes LeBron. He’s just raw still in a lot of areas.

I dont think so. You gotta factor who is in front of him

I honestly think his All-Star status would have to coincide with greater success by the Bobcats. Ideally, Gerald would be a second offensive option who unleashes his abilities on defense and rebounding. If he has another 15 point, 54% FG, 2 blk, 2 stl season with the Bobcats WINNING, who knows?? The Pistons had those 4 All-Stars one season because they were winners not neccessarily putting up the big individual scoring numbers.

That’s a really good point. You don’t have to have 20+ PPG to be an all-star.

I know that but I dont see Wallace beating out Granger, James, Lewis and Pierce unless they get hurt.

You really can’t show YouTube links and make people decide whether a guy is going to be an All-Star. Every athletic player looks like a Hall of Famer on YouTube.

Theoretically, Wallace might still be improving. But for the most part, eight years into his career, I think it’s safe to say we know what he’s capable. And he’s not an All-Star, even though he is a very good player.

Gerald Wallace is a great player, but i think he would be such an amazing complimentary player than being a number one option. I was hoping that the Gerald Wallace to Cavs thing would of worked out, he can do a little bit of everything, defend shoot drive. I shouldn’t be saying this but maybe like Scottie Pippenish type of player, i think his numbers would strive even more if he wasn’t the main focus every night. The thing about him hes gonna give 100% on both ends of the floor and doesn’t coast on defense like most superstars who choose when to play defense. I hope he makes an all-star def deserves one, and I dont believe how he didn’t win a defensive player of the year yet, with his numbers maybe because he can’t make it through a whole season. Never the else, hes only going to get better which is scary…

I love Gerald Wallace, he’s one of the most underrated guys in the league, and among the hardest workers, he plays the game the right way which is 110% all game long, he’s the only guy in the league that has the same desire, passion, and fire as KG…the only knock on him is he’s not a big time scorer, and not a #1 guy, even though he’s forced to be in Charlotte…I think he deserves to make an all-star game, but making it as a small forward in the east(LeBron, Pierce, Granger, Butler) is just as tough as making it as a PG in the west(Paul, Williams, Parker, Nash)…if he’s not gonna make an all-star team which he deserves to, but you just can’t put him ahead of those guys, at least put the guy on an all-defensive 1st team, not only does he get a lot of blocks & steals, but he really plays great on ball D, the only other guy who does that and puts up his defensive #’s is Marion!!!
Deserves an all-star berth, but its probably never gonna happen unless he’s an injury replacement for one of those guys!!!

If you watch the games you will notice that Brown tries to work the offense through Okafor. Which is a forced issue on most occurances. Brown is forcing Okafor to work on his game this summer not so much his body. If okafor can hold down the post like he is capable of doing, then Wallace would be able to flourish as the second option, which I think could in some way propel him to the all-star team. And with up and coming points like felton and DJ, and a great supporting cast, don’t sleep on the bobcats as a playoff team next year.
