I agree with MagikKnick on the “sleeper.” Definitely going to be a solid pro for years to come with his jump shot and aggressiveness.

In terms of possible “stars” I think Amar’e, without a doubt, is the best but he’s had stupid injuries and now the eye thing. He could be a tragic case like Grant Hill where he could’ve been in a “greatest of all time” discussion but never got to tap into his potential due to injury.

Griffin will be a role player who will make 1-2 All-Star’s probably. Please with these “Duncan meets Malone/Barkley” comparisons. Let’s be reasonable here. Duncan is the greatest PF of all time and the most dominant player since Michael left. I see more Dennis Rodman with a normal brain than anything (lol…).

I expect Jefferson to have a big year and Bosh might surprise for the next few years as well.

In terms of guys from next year’s class–I’ll tell you in 12 months if Davis is going to be the DOMINANT big or not. He has the potential if he adds weight and develops a jumpshot. Kid blocks shots as good as any 6’10” you’ll see and has good hops and big hands.

There are others as well in the next 1-2 years coming into the league that will probably be more dominant then what’s their now (after the Duncan’s and Garnetts are gone). I’m predicting a decline in PF stars until the 2010-2011 classes get to about age 25.

You got Griffin and Beasley but I think they will be 1-2 time all-star’s as the 2nd or 3rd guy and that’s it. The next group of perennial all-star’s will take a while to come most likely. I’d expect more D-Wade type stars in the next 5 years to develop than the Duncan/Garnetts of the late 90’s.

If that guy gets a new team where he doesn’t have to play center or if Atlanta gets a good center, he is the true mold of a power forward and would really flourish in his natural position, his 9 and 9 numbers and deceiving because he is playing center. If he can play his true position for a couple years the sky is the limit for that guy, 18 and 11 Elton Brandesqe player in the long run

I think it really depends. From what I’m hearing all summer Green has put on 15 pounds of muscle. That’ll make hime 6’9 245lbs which is really an Ideal pf size. Plus he’s been working on defense and rebounding. If he is that size with like 18 and 8 and starting at pf with durant for then next 10 years then he is a powerforward. However Randolph and Beasley will probly be playing sf most their careers…As for my list I have Bosh at the top with Griffin, Love, Stoudemire(injuries could lower him), and Aldrige

AMARE could be great… Somone needs to teach him how to defend the pick n roll… He is HANDS DOWN worst in nba at defending it.. its his biggest deficiency..

Where the Suns Go Wrong

What the Suns get caught up in is the switch. They attempt to double team but it’s usually lazy and doesn’t disrupt the PG’s pass much, if at all. This is because Amare has no clue how/where to place his double team on a guard. Thus, the pass to the receiving player is usually in the right spot which gives the Suns no time to rotate, and gives the offense multiple options to score.

Plus, when the Suns do rotate, it’s not nearly quick enough. Players need to anticipate the rotation and they’re not doing that. Improper rotation allows the offense to quickly move the ball around, or swing it along the perimeter (which opens up cutting lanes), to the open man. This is what kills the Suns.

(IF Amare can find the simple intelligence in doing this, He is probably the best on the list)

i already think injuries have effected Amare’s game. He’s not as explosive or as good of rebounder as he once was, no doubt he has adapted his jumper and is still a very good player,and a player i like for that matter but i don’t think his ceiling is nearly as high nor do i think he will play for as long as he would have if he hadn’t gotten injured

imagine playing guard your whole life, then all of sudden sprouting 5-7 inches real late into your b-ball career… He’ll get there, he just hasnt always been over sized like some of these dudes.. If you want comparison see (ryan thompson) his brother and the PG on rider.. hes 6’6″, and thats what Jason used to be…. Takes time, but hes very european in the sense that he can step out and shoot, and he’ll be a better banger in yrs to come.

LIke the list, David West is a top notch PF and has got no love on so far, but you are giving too much love, maybe if the topic was PF’s that will contribute, Hawes and Noah may not be true centers but they are more C’s than Pf’s , McGee is a C, Gibson is not going to do anything, Jordan Hill is too much of a questionmark at this time, but i like a lot of your picks

Keith Gallon will dominate when he gets to the league

I’d have to say either Bosh or Big Al. They play a different style, so could be like complementary “Best Players.” Al is always underthe basket, and creates space there, while Bosh put opposing PFs on the pine in foul trouble. Both vey valuable assets. Relating to Bosh, the guy has supposedly been hitting the weights hard this summer, and in a recent video looks quite a bit bigger. If he keeps his speed and gets stronger, he will probably top the list.

I have to agree that Staudemire has had numerous injuries, and has also had the recent benefit of playing with Nash. Lets say he goes to a team that has more of a shoot first PG (Chicago). You could see his numbers drop.

Another player to really keep an eye on in the next few years is Bargniani. He has a ton of potential to get much better, and could actually begin to live up to some of the Dirk comparisons. He really needs to improve his rebounding, but his D is already way better than Dirk’s. He only got consistent minutes last year, and did very well. he is another guy who could end up living at the line. All this being said, he has a lot of catching up to do to match Bosh, Staudemire, Jefferson, and even West, but anything is possible.

I have a hard time believing that, an unathletic yet quasi quick 300 pound powerforward who yes does have some skill, but 6’9” and 300 pounds is a hell of a lot more dominating at a high school level than it is against grown men who are 250 and have a 38” vert and are just as strong, talented, and as tall as you. Gallon is a good college player, but i don’t think he will be much more than another Tractor Traylor in the league
