Deal confirmed. 2 awful contracts being swapped. Also hearing Rumors about Conley to Utah but he doesn’t want to play there and prefers the east.. Also saw that Lowry could potentially head to Utah? 3 team trade in the works with Utah-Memphis-Toronto ??

Wayne Ellington is also being traded to the Suns along with Johnson.

Sure, Phoenix gets a player that can run point competently & give them a nightly 15pt-6assists……. fun. Couple of terrible ‘sour 16’s’ contracts swapped for each other.

But how does Ryan Anderson fit into Miami? Really don’t comprehend their motives in this transaction

They’re trying to get under the tax. From twitter.com/albertnahmad

This is absolutely brilliant work by the Miami Heat… They drop from $6.3M to just $1.2M over the tax line ($8.0M savings), and put themselves in striking distance of avoiding it altogether, for 2018-19; and turn a $19.2M player option into a $15.6M partial guarantee for 2019-20.

I quote the Heat as being $1.2M over the luxury tax line but, in practical reality, they’re probably more like $176K over, pending Kelly Olynyk’s $1.0M bonus for playing 1,700 minutes. He needs to average 24+ minutes over Heat’s final 30 games to achieve it.

Thanks! Pretty much exactly what I was hoping to understand from a financial lens

I mean that’s all well and good from Miami’s ownership perspective, but for practical purposes this doesn’t help their team at all. It would be nice if they gave some of those luxury tax savings back to the fans in the form of reduced ticket prices but I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for that to happen.

Ryan Anderson is an extra body for the injured DJJ plus no more logjam at the guards with this trade.

I figured he wouldn’t waive his veto rights to go sit on the bench behind Booker in PHX. His agent and the Suns are trying to get him waived to join a contender. He’s from Philly, I could definitely see him joining them to help with shooting and depth.

I saw the Windhorst report about Lowry having real fear that he may be headed to Utah. Toronto just cleared a roster spot by trading Malachi Richardson to Philly too, so maybe that 3-team deal is in the works for Conley.

Ball is a P.G vs Johnson being a combo guard so could essentially a 6th man while Ball started if a trade for Ball is in the work…

Tyler Johnson reminds me of a low budget Brandon Knight before the knee injury..Not sure what the Suns are doing. Need to trade some of those SF’s for a good player. How many more seasons before Booker demands a trade?

The Heat have a really weird roster now … until Dragic comes back there are no point guards! Even most of their guards — Richardson, McGruder, DWade — are more like 3s in the modern NBA.

And they have 6 guys worthy of minutes at the 4/5 spots: Whiteside, Johnson, Winslow, Olynyk, Adebayo, Anderson.

Firstly he helped get Lebron Tyson quickly.

Then he helps Pat riley out by taking Johnsons average deal on the books so…

If I was the Suns I would be looking for GM that doesn’t screw my team/hook the players former team up as who knows he may move Booker to a team LBJ wants lol…

Bit of a nothing trade, the Suns might waive Ellington and the Heat get their tax budget down a bit.
