I’m going to go out on a limb and say either Wall or Beal or both get traded. I can’t see another way out for Washington. I think the Sixers may be in play if it’s Beal moved. Perhaps Phoenix if it’s Wall, but either way, they’ll both bring a good return. They arent even close to being in the conversation in the East.

What would be involved in both deals? I could see that happening if Brooks doesn’t get it clicking soon…

Beal on the 76ers with Embiid and Simmons would be interesting if you can keep Saric out of the trade that would be a bonus. But what could they give up to make it work?

Suns and Wall would be nice if you could keep Booker and Ayton out of any deal..

They really screwed themselves over by giving Otto Porter the max contract. Essentially it declared that Wall, Beal, Porter were their "big 3" and they wouldn’t have any financial flexibility to do anything else in the near future including resigning Kelly Oubre. Porter is making 27 mil a year averaging 9.8 ppg on 41% from the field and 21% from three. As long as that contract is on the books it will inhibit them from even rebuilding properly unless they trade both Beal and Wall. This team’s biggest issue however is the bigs. Part of the early season woes could be because the pansy Dwight Howard hasn’t played yet but the team is literally relegated to playing Porter, Oubre, and Jeff Green at the 4 and sometimes even the 5 because Mahinmi gets in foul trouble immediately(not that he’s productive when he’s in) and there is no actual big man depth they trust. Thomas Bryant or Jason Smith?

Interesting topic and to be honest a few days ago I thought about who could be the next star player who demands a trade and the first name that came to my mind was Wall. The destination teams you listed make sense to me and I‘m almost convinced Wall is the one who will switch teams since he is a prime player now and it won’t get any better going forward with his game since he failed to add more aspects to it the last couple of years if you ask me.

He is good but basically the same player he was 4 years ago and will soon be 30.

a trade of Wall and Beal for Butler and Wiggins works on ESPN trade machine between.. I realize the players in this trade would not like it but it would be funny.

Beal with kemba walker in charlotte would be a nice backcourt.

Maybe something like 2 or 3 of these players Zeller / Kamisky / Bridges / JLamb for Beal

I’m trading Wall before Beal. Beal struggled mightily with injuries his first few seasons in the league, but now appears to be completely over his stress reactions / fractures. Wall on the otherhand has had multiple knee procedures, on both legs, and is set to get paid an absoluted boat-load of cash for the long term.

Although Beal is trending in this direction, Wall has been more of a vocal incendiary in the locker room as well. I’m not sure he’s the greatest leader / teammate……. calling out players on multiple occassions & not coming into training camp in the best condition. Several times.

I’m old school with this. I believe leaders need to galvonize their team by bringing everyone together. Not by drawing lines in the sand & pushing people out the door. Was it a mistake for DC’s front office to pay Porter $26 million per year, probably. But that’s the reality of the situation….. and the guy is versatile & can play. If you want to be the man, air out the BS & help facilitate better team ball on both sides of the court.

Phoenix is an interesting trade partner for Washington. They have some pieces that could interest Washington in a deal, and the Suns seem intent on winning sooner rather than later. They’re always in the media trying to land stars in the offseason, and Wall could be had. Something to keep an eyen on……..

The issue is that wall is under contract through 2023 and gets extremely pricey after this season. Even if they are open to moving him, his contract could make it difficult. Whoever trades for him will have to believe he is a franchise player because he is getting paid like one. His performance over the past year puts that very much in doubt though.

Beal was a much more attractive contract situation and would be the easier of the two to move.

God the Wizards are awful.  It all starts with the front office.  Giving Ian Mahinmi 16 mil a year, giving role player at best Otto Porter a max deal and signing locker room cancer and way beyond his prime Dwight Howard who has yet to play a game this year.  The chemistry on this team is non-existent.  No cap flexibility to sign any good role players.  Scott Brooks might as well start interviewing for other jobs now because it is only a matter of time before he is canned.  They need to blow this travesty up and just start over.  At the beginning of the year, I said the Wizards would either be really good or just god awful.  So far, it’s the latter.

The Wizards, to me, have been an incredibly streaky team over the past 5-7 years. When they’re on, they’re a real threat in the East, but when they’re off, they don’t look like they can do anything right. So far, they’re 28th in the league in 3pt FG%, which is a painful stat when you have two elite shooters in Porter and Beal. Austin Rivers hasn’t been the sparkplug he was supposed to be, and the entire team can’t defend anyone (last in the league in opponent PPG). The Howard injury is a bigger blow than I think anyone expected, but I can’t see things being much better even once he returns. Gortat, for all his shortcomings, gave this team some toughness and effort that they are sorely lacking right now.

Gaudy contracts aside, I’m not sure I’d want to trade for Wall or Beal if I was serious about winning. Wall has not matured nearly enough for a seven-year franchise cornerstone, and I don’t think he can lead a team well enough or stay healthy long enough to make a long-term investment in. Beal is a similar case.

I’ll also echo what TarHeelRaven said as well about the front office. Grunfeld has the least-warranted job security in the NBA despite his terrible moves. It goes beyond Porter and Mahinmi. This team thought Andrew Nicholson was worth $26 mil. And while you can point to drafts where they got Wall, Beal, Porter and Oubre, pretty much every other pick they’ve made over the past 7 years has either flamed out or underwhelmed.

How do you allow the Clippers to score 186 points against you?!? That’s embarrassing.

I could care less what the Wizard do, not a fan, but if it were me, I’d trade them both just to be sure you got rid of the right one.

      *136

But it might as well be 186. Wizards out here making opponents looking like the Alex English/Kiki Vandeweghe-era Nuggets.
