high floorParticipantWrong
1.) I was all aboard the Boston hype train, winning 65 games. But their offense does not look right thus far. I think Kyrie will eventually start making his shots, but Hayward is only about 70% of his 2016-17 self, and the team overall is not getting to the rim. They are still an elite team, but high 50’s seems more like the ceiling…. and thus far Toronto is looking like the frontrunner for best record in the East.
2.) Blake Griffin is looking like a top 10 player in the league right now. I did not predict this happening, and if he stays healthy Detroit could exceed expectations & win in the mid to upper 40’s. Reggie Jackson has been on fire from 3 as well, whose health is also critical to their trajectory.
3.) I’ve underrated Tobias Harris. He looks to have taken another step forward & could be an all star if the team is competetive.
4.) I bought into the hype about Fultz’s shooting, but he still has a ways to go with the jumper. It’s not impossible for his jumper to improve during the season, but I’m hesitant to bet on that. His offensive play really impacts the upside of this team.
Right
1.) I was high on Milwaukee getting off to a fast start. Their floor spacing has been much improved under coach Bud, and they could give Philly a run for the 3-seed.2.) I liked Demar’s fit on the Spurs. Granted his usage has increased due to their injuries at PG……. but I thought he would be very good for San Antonio. So far, so good.
3.) I thought Trae Young was being slept on. People were picking apart his weaknesses too much & not focusing enough on his positives. I don’t care if it’s only 4-games…… Trae is going to be good & will prove his naysayers wrong.
4.) I was high on Denver, and they are looking really good. Jokic is a top 15 player in the league, and Thomas coming back is really going to bolster their bench scoring. I think they’re going to win 50 games.

halfdecayedParticipantOn a very small sample size, Fultz low key shooting 50 % from three.. His shot doesn’t look as broken anymore. He seem to lack confidence though.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantIt’s kind of too early to call on a lot of these. If you recall, people thought Boston was done last season when Hayward went down and they lost their first 2 games. Than they preceded to win like 18 in a row or something like that. Meanwhile, Detroit and Orlando both got off to extremely fast starts and we all know how that turned out.
I do agree with you on Milwaukee for sure. I love the way budenholzer is utilizing Giannis and the pace they are playing at compared to last season. I actually had them finishing ahead of Philadelphia in the east prior to the season and nothing I’ve seen so far would make me back off that prediction.

Andrew1984ParticipantRight:
1. I had Denver in WCF before the year started, and as OP mentioned, they look good.
2. I had Jarrett Allen leading the league in blocks per game; he’s currently 4th, and I don’t think JaVale McGee and Zach Collins, who are currently 2nd and 3rd, will play enough minutes to remain among the leaders.
3. I had Houston dropping down to the 6-seed, getting figured out by defenses, and being past their window. Again, it’s extremely early, but they’re 1-3.Wrong:
1. I thought Toronto firing last year’s coach of the year and then trading for a guy who is already eyeballing L.A. would cause major dysfunction and that they would underwhelm significantly. But they’re 5-0. Oof.
2. I had Kevin Knox as ROY. Yikes, he’ll be lucky to shoot 40 percent from the field by the time this year is over.
3. I had the Lakers in the playoffs, which is still quite plausible, but could just as easily go south fast.0 - Posted on: Thu, 10/25/2018 - 4:47am #1125502
BeastMode716Participant& I was right about that NO ONE is touching Golden State Any time in the next 3 or 4 years if they stay together
Before the season I worried about Boston having Too much good but not Gr8 talent & a Super Star PG who is really more of an Iso Combo Guard who must Iso off the dribble to be effective – it’s not a great fit even though I feel Kyrie has been much better than I though as a distributor – Still a great team but I think Toronto w/ Kawhi is better
I was WAY wrong about Phila —- Ben Simmons triple Doubles are sexy but No team w/ Title aspirations can start a PG who is ZERO threat to score in the 1/2 court in close games & Simmons has Already said publicly "I will NOT shoot the ball b/c I don’t need to" That is INSANE —
people will think I’m crazy but 2 ball handlers in the modern NBA is fine — Fultz has got to be the primary PG b/c he IS shooting, Reddick starts at the 2 guard, put Simmons at Point 4ward & let him work in the post when Embiid is off the floor & Bench Saric who can Not guard Anyone & Phila’s coach is Bad – I root for Brett Brown b/c he’s a great guy & he’s been thru hell but those 2 Nat’l TV games were AWFUL! Phila is a Mess – totally undisciplined, turn overs galore, bad fouls bailing teams out & no idea how to switch on Def
I was wrong about Milwaukee – they have a Real coach now & they look Really good. Greek Freak is Dominant! Middleton is a nice 2nd option & the Bucks have athletes all over the court. The Bucks looks Legit top 4 seed in a Much deeper East than people realized
I was wrong about my Lakers – I thought they could be the #2 seed – It’s dumb to bet against Lebron & Houston looks a mess so who knows but it looks like LA is too young & just don’t have the horses for a Big Run
I Hope I’m Wrong about being Wrong on LA & I hope Phila pulls it 2gether b/c they are a Fun team but Fultz is Not a 2 guard people – he’s a really good natural PG!

220ParticipantIt’s increasingly becoming apparent that Markelle Fultz is unlikely to succeed at shooting guard. He had a decent game against Detroit when he had the ball in his hands, but he was largely ineffective once Ben Simmons was back in the lineup.
Bryan Colangelo screwed the 76ers so bad and I’m still holding out hope the team can salvage something with Fultz. I still think the answer to get him more comfortable is bring him off the bench as 6th man/backup point guard. That way he can be aggressive and regain his confidence.

220ParticipantNBA Playoff Standings as of October 25 2017
East
1. Washington 3-0
2. Cleveland 3-1
3. Milwaukee 3-1
4. Orlando 3-1
5. Miami 2-1
6. Toronto 2-1
7. Boston 2-2
8 (tie). Indiana 2-2
(tie) Brooklyn 2-2
(tie) Detroit 2-2
West
1. San Antonio 3-0
2. LAC 3-0
3. Memphis 3-0
4. Houston 3-1
5. Portland 3-1
6. Golden State 2-2
7. Utah 2-2
8. Minnesota 2-2
I like to look at the standings from the previous year at this point because it helps to show how much can change. Last year at this point, if the playoffs were to start, LAC, Memphis, and Orlando would not only make the playoffs, they’d have homecourt advantage in the first round.

Evan_MilbergParticipantWrong:
- Amid the Kawhi drama, I thought the Raptors would struggle early and that Kawhi would take a step back.
- I thought the preseason hype surrounding the Nuggets as a top 4 team in the West was unwarranted. That appears to be wrong so far.
- I didn’t think the Pistons would be competitive
Right:
- I knew the Wizards would struggle early. This team, as currently constructed, just doesn’t have what it takes to be successful at any level.
- I thought the Pelicans would do well early and that Mirotic would take a big step in his development
- Khris Middleton is poised to make his first All-Star game

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantAn Eastern Conference team going on an early season West Coast road trip can be deceiving, but the Wizards don’t seem to have come remotely close to defending anyone. It is almost impressive to allow opponents to shoot close to 50 percent from the floor, and still get killed on the offensive glass. This is probably the best thing for Dwight Howard’s confidence to know that he is needed this much.
