After the trade with the Rockets the Suns said they would trade for a starting PG before the season starts. They have to get rid of one of those SF’s too man of them. Who’s the odd man out, TJ Warren maybe?

I posted a couple months ago they should trade TJ Warren for Dennis Schroder, obiviously that didn’t happen. So who do you think would be a good candiate and who would you trade?

Hindsight is 20/20, but this would have been a GREAT spot for Marcus Smart.

Tyler Ulis. Junior Robinson. McDonough has really made some questionable decision. with the pick they traded to Orlando for Payton, melton was actually available. Lmao.

Since booker is likely to have the ball in his hands a lot, I think they need a defensive pg that can play off the ball and make shots. Some veteran experience and leadership certainly wouldn’t hurt. If I was Phoenix, I’d at least inquire about Patrick Beverly.

Terry rozier could be another name out there to look at, but I’m not sure how available he is at this point and I doubt he would come cheap.

The problem with the suns trading knight is that they need a pg and everyone knows it. Therefore, it’s going to be more difficult to find a fair deal for a player they want because they aren’t dealing from a position of strength.

Smart and Beverley, I agree to both. One I was thinking about is Kemba Walker. It wouldnt do much for the team defensively, but he is gettable. With the promise he would re-sign, I’d get him now although it’s mean losing some key assets. They have a logjam on the wing and they could use  these pieces to bring in this caliber of pg. Charlotte may need to strongly consider the move, as although they’d be best places to get him back, I can’t see they’ll ever do anything than be stuck in purgatory with him. Although Suns fans get the best player in the move, I have no doubt many would not agree with my suggestion of a trade built around Bridges and Warren for Kemba plus the pre-registration fillers for cap purposes. It leaves the Suns with a great core of Kemba, Booker, Jackson, Ayton and a max FA slot, while the Hornets have Bridges, Warren and Bridges, very athletic young guys to build around. Surely both teams would be better. ./p>

Kemba for Warren straight up – no need for fillers as salaries match. Charlotte would have signed Kemba to an extension by now if they were interested. They aren’t going to get much for him considering he’s basically out the door. Warren would tie up roughly 12 million/season for an additioanal 3 years but he is young and a local product and the price feels like a bargain(Warren is my 2nd favourite current player so I’m biased(Mitchell first)). Kemba in a contract year is exactly what Phoenix needs if they want to compete. If Kemba doesn’t pan out they free up cap space for the future. If he wins them some playoff rounds they can offer him a Kyle Lowry 3 year max that coincides with Ayton’s rookie deal expiring.

To me the Ariza signing marks a team trying to compete so I think this is probably the best PG available for their current needs. I like Rozier as an option too and think he’s better if they want to peak in a couple years.

Either way I think Rozier and Kemba find new homes next season.

I don’t think the Hornets sell the face of the franchise for Warren, even if he is off contract. Itd be Warren and Bridges. Steep price for Phoenix, but you are getting an all star and you do  not win games without a quality point guard.

Rozier would be a good fit but I think they will need to wait for the summer and try to purchase his talents in free agency.

The guy I thought they would go after this summer was Dante Exum but he is obviously locked up in Utah for a while.

The 2 guys I keep thinking of are Corey Joseph and Patrick Beverley, they are both expiring deals.

They are not ball dominant PG’s, very sound defensively, can create enough next to Booker but not take away from what he can do and reasonable shooters from deep.

Indiana has 3 starting caliber PG’s IMO with Evans, Collison and Joseph so I could see him as the odd one out. (Not sure what the return would be)
I like TJ Warren, but unsure we want to chew up cap with his contract. If Phoenix don’t see a fit with Bender I would love to maybe grab him, Indy may need to send a pick or something back as well.
Beverley moving on would simply open up a lot of minutes for SGA & I imagine the Clips would want a young talent like Bender in return.

I would not be surprised to see Phoenix dangle Josh Jackson to get a PG given they have Booker, Bridges, Warren & just paid Ariza.

I just saw that the Sun’s tried to get Lillard, Kemba and Rozier before settling on the deal with Houston. Very curious as to who they were offering, but all teams obviously said no.

I wonder if John Wall could end up in Phoenix, if the Wiz realize they are not contenders in the East any more.

It seems like every Kentucky point guard of the Calipari era has played for Phoenix at one point or another.

I think that they could go after Boogie with their max slot next year, especially if they get Wall. That leaves the Wiz without a PG though so I doubt any package gets through that Phoenix can offer.

Kemba did spring to mind to me but Charlotte would want assets for a guy who is a double and current All Star so with us moving Chriss that gave away one asset and the future Miami pick was traded away in the draft.

Charlotte would likely want at least one first rounder if we assume Ayton, Booker, Jackson and co are off limits.

I wonder if they’d get Russ for Booker, Warren, Anderson and an unprotected first…

PHX: Russ Bridges Jackson Ariza Ayton

OKC: Schroder Booker George Warren/Anderson Adams and unprotected PHX pick

Well I negged you just now because I think Westbrook is byfar a better player. Booker is a good scorer on a bad team but hasnt learned to close teams or play defence individually or as a team. Hes still unproven as a leader. When making a deal of this magnitude the filler guys like Warren and Anderson are basically just to match salary and dont even things out.

Fair enough, I didn’t know which side people thought was favoured in the deal

Heres why people may hate this trade though:

Russ and Pg are on the same timeline.

Russ recruited P.G and that would be a bad look if they traded him straight after doing that.

Presti has tied his flag to the S.S westbrook and will give him the Kobe treatment: Let him keep being the man even though he probably should lessen the reigns a little but will go out jacking shots….

Dennis S could be out if convicted so the thunder wouldn’t have an allstar level Point guard.

Suns really like Booker and are trying to turn their brand with their star players around…They would look really stupid signing him to a max then moving him just like that I could see players not want to sign their until the GM was fired otherwise…

The Suns core is probably a little to young to hang with Westbrook just yet…Especially if they were giving up Booker. Hence making this trade not very logical..They are better suited to Bookers if anything..

On paper though it would be fun to watch this trade so points for throwing a wildcard trade out there.

If the Suns had interest in Schroeder they would have likely made a move around draft time when they had 16th pick and the future Miami pick they could have used either as part of a deal.
