Finally a chance for this kid to get his career back on track. Partially guaranteed, is a great fit backing up Davis or possibly alongside in some limited Big lineups.

I guess this means the other Okafor, Emeka, is on his way out. Too bad, his comeback was a great story last season.

I don’t think there are many minutes here for Jahlil unless someone gets hurt — AD, Mirotic and Randle are the three-big rotation, and Diallo showed some promise last season.

Debate was did the Lakers mess up by taking D’Lo Russell #2 overall over #3 pick by Phila Jahlil Okafor???

And then a few months later we all realized the Lakers AND 76ers messed up by letting Kristaps PorzinGOD fall to the Knicks at #4

just 3 years later Okafor is lucky to still be in the NBA & D’Lo is in a struggling Brooklyn squad & doing ok but certainly not a Star

Damn Life comes at you fast

The Sixers had no choice. Porzingas refused to work out for them. They couldn’t take the risk of drafting a player who might resign in Europe right after having Embiid miss 2 seasons. Plus if they drafted Porzingas they most likely would not have got Simmons.

It was only a matter of time before he was signed. He’s worked his ass off this summer. He’s basically completely rebuilt himself mentally and physically and is in the best shape of his life.

I’m interested to see if he can beat out Diallo for any minutes left in that big man rotation. Regardless, this season will serve as an audition to the rest of the league.

I think he’s about to blow up.

As someone who has watched a lot of Jahlil Okafor while he was on the 76ers I’ve repeatedly heard about him rebuilding himself and being in the best shape of his life. He looked good coming into the year last year, but it didn’t fix his shortcomings. Hopefully instead of doubling down on his offensivw strengths Jah has worked on his defense and rebounding. If he only rebounds harder he should be able to find his place in the league.

I don’t know what he’s done in the past, but I know this summer he’s worked with the best biomechanics trainer in the business. It’s the same guy who works with LeBron James, D. Wade and Victor Oladipo (since last summer).

I just think that physically, his body will work in ways that it hasn’t in the past and we’ll see that on the court. Improved foot speed, mobility, lateral quickness, core strength, etc will all help him defending and on the glass.

We’ll see though. With the way he "dedicated himself to himself" in so many areas this summer, I’m just rooting for the guy.

The concerns about his conditioning that persisted from the moment he landed in Brooklyn were real red flags. Everything I read about him seemed as though he has just been checked out for the past couple years. Hopefully, the light went off, and getting reacquainted with Davis helps him out. From a purely basketball standpoint, if he is in shape and motivated, there is no doubt that he should move past Ajinca, Diallo, and Okafor quickly.

This year will be a huge year for Jahlil Okafor. There are no more excuses unless he gets hurt. Hopefully he can find a niche and stay in the league. If his stay in New Orleans goes poorly his NBA career may be at an end.

At the very least it should keep the other bigs post defence sharp throughout the year. Oak will be a tough guy to gaurd in practice.

He could make $4 to $7 mill playing overseas.  I read rumors he was considering going to play in China.

If this doesn’t work out, he will head overseas…

Okafor’s career path seems headed in a similar direction as another ACC star, Tyler Hansbrough, who landed in China a few years back. Both have significant physical limitations that don’t really fit the modern game.

Okafor is still young, but I’m still not sure what it is that he does well. His plight is a reminder that it is infinitely easier for a big man to be a role player on the NBA if they defend well and do the little things than it is for a big man to find a place in the league as an offense but no defense type.

     1) That the spurs didn’t honestly give this guy a look as I think offensively Timmy could have work wonders with him and maybe even defensively…

2)That the Pelicans picked him up, as unless he miraculiously has developed a 3 ball no one has told us about then they are going to offensively have the same issues as cousins but slightly worse…

    3) That honestly that these teams didn’t give him a legit look/chance:Portland,Spurs,Dallas,Clippers or Memphis…As all could use his scoring or youth(if they wanted someone to develop)..
