Lotto StudParticipantFun Fact: The Kansas Jayhawks are 0/3 on wing players to be selected in the lottery since 2010.

Lotto StudParticipantXavier Henry… Remember him? Yeah, me neither.
Andrew Wiggins… Nowhere near the superstar every analyst projected him to become.
Ben McLemore… Currently being simulated as a hot potato.

ChewyParticipantJosh Jackson?
Also Kelly Oubre was selected just outside the lottery at 15 and is doing well.

Lotto StudParticipantJosh Jackson only has one season under his belt, therefore he is exempt. As for Kelly Oubre Jr., he isn’t even a lottery pick. As my original post stands; Kansas = 0/3 on wings to be selected within the lottery since 2010.

ChewyParticipantJackson doesn’t count because “you say so.” We have a whole year of work to look at with him. No logical reason to exclude him other than he contradicts your theory that KU wings suck in the NBA.
Wiggins also isn’t a miss by any means. He’s averaged 17 or more every season. Outside peoples expectations don’t change numerical facts. You thought he was going to be the next superstar. I didn’t. I watched every KU game of his and saw him being exactly what he is now. Being a franchise cornerstone excludes him from being a “miss” in any possible context.
Oubre was literally as close to a lottery pick without being one as you can. It’s perfectly logical to include him because he is a similar talent to lottery picks. But I get you don’t want to add him because you want to be right on your wildly specific claim. 0/3 sounds better than 3/5.
This doesn’t even include Rush who has had a long career, Selden who went undrafted and started over 25 games that season, Svi who looks great in a Lakers uni, idk if you consider the Morris twins wings or nor. All these people point to KU players translating well to the NBA due to Self’s coaching.

Taylor Gang MikeParticipantStill waiting on Oubre to Pop, Jackson seems like a role player. This is a good topic though. Preston too.
They should hit on Grimes this year

Evan_MilbergParticipantI agree with half of this. The Jayhawk 2-guards (Henry, McLemore) have definitely been huge disappointments. I actually think the jury is still out on their small forwards, though. Sure, Wiggins hasn’t developed into a superstar yet, but he’s still just 23, and I think Jimmy Butler’s negativity and impatience with both him and Towns has stunted that team’s development. As for Oubre, I would contend he’s found a very solid 6th man role for the Wizards and it suits his skill set well. He could probably be a starter on a lot of teams. And as for Josh Jackson, yes he was disappointing in Summer League, but his production last year was promising and I think adding Ayton at Center is really going to open things up on the perimeter for him.

elliotmcadooParticipantHow many top prospects in the draft every year actually reach their full potential? You cant say by the age of 23 that Wiggins is a bust. Until Jimmy and his bad chemistry arrived Andrew’s scoring average has increased by 3 PPG every season. Though he hasn’t improved in any other category, I believe he might improve but even if he doesn’t he’s just a high level scorer. Ben McLemore sure isnt the star some believed him to be or even close lol, but he seems to be a solid rotation piece. Not what Sacramento had in mind when they drafted him 7th overall. Xavier Henry was injury prone his whole career. Also X just wasn’t that good of a player. In his one and only season of being a rotation piece and not just a body on the floor (NO/MEM) with the Lakers when he was 22 were not that bad.10PPG in 22 minutes for a team that severly lacked scoring. I remember that season and he brought some energy to a terrible team.
