The greatest downfall for the Portland Trailblazers, that hinders everyones development, especially their bigs, is that both Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum has to have a mandatory of 25-30 points a night. The organization have recently let Ed Davis walk, who happened to be a bright spot to a degree. Meyers Leonard showed some type of flash that he could step out to the perimeter, but he does not have a chance to showcase it on a nightly basis. Zach Collins is promising but he must be placed in situations to where he can feel comfortable knowing he will receive touches. Jusuf Nurkić is Jusuf Nurkić.

They should get top value for Lilliard and build around Mccollum I think CJ has alot of untapped potential and they need more talent throughout other positions.

Their greatest downfall is that front office, they haven’t nailed a draft pick since McCollum and have made questionable signings and decisions for the past couple yrs. Even this summer, they drafted 2 more smallish guards, signed another small guard in Curry, all while having a huge gaping hole at SF for years

Its not Dame and CJs fault they have to shoot so much, that frontcourt has been wildly inconsistent. Aminu, Nurkic and Leonard are too streaky to rely on for steady offense but hopefuly Collins can develop. I wouldnt count on it happening before one Dame or CJ gets traded though

Maybe they’re loading up on guards because they plan on trading Lillard or McCollum, but otherwise these moves don’t make sense.

I think they are going to play a lot of 3 guard line ups this year and have Aminu and Harkless playing the 4. Caleb Swanigan wasn’t the right pick last year. Jordan Bell was the pick most Blazer fans wanted and he had a good year with the GSW and would have been a natural replacement for End Davis.

I think Collins has some real upside. He didn’t play well offensively in the SL, but he was pretty damn good defensively.

Trailblazers have or had a bunch of soft azz bigs.you can’t teach toughness you gotta want it. Noah Vonlah, Myes Leonard, Ed Davis, Jusuf, etc. have all been soft as toilet paper. The Caleb kid might be the only tough kid they got.

I am unhappy with GM Olshey, lying to the fans about getting ‘experienced’ help for the team, then going out and drafting no D youngsters (Simons, Trent jr) instead of solid guards Khyri Thomas and Jalen Brunson, who were available when they drafted and traded for the second rounder. Lillard and CJ will wear down, Curry’s younger brother may be OK but none play defense. No true point guard backup on team. Letting Ed Davis and Napier go are mistakes and drop Blazers down to the fight for 8th – 10th in the Conference. Sure Zach Collins MAY be very good, but him + Dame + CJ and whatever Nurkic gives us will keep some fans entertained but no real shot to advance in playoffs and maybe this year not make the playoffs. Of course, Blazers are stuck in Salary Cap purgatory for 2 more years. Would love to see them ‘stretch’ Turner’s Contract, he is no more valuable than anybody in the league at his position.
