ZouldiersParticipantWell, IT went from a top 5 MVP candidate to a veteran minimum guy in 2 years sad. Luckily, he makes the Nuggets bench way better and if healthy can make a comeback and push the Nuggets to a surefire playoff contender. Sweet deal by the Nuggets.
Denver has also traded Faried, Arthur, 2019 1st rd pick(protected), and a future 2nd rd pick for Whitehead. Nuggets making some moves wow.

cohenbc1ParticipantThat’s a great move by Denver. They are going to score all kinds of points this year with IT, Jokic, Murray, Harris and Barton. Oh and Michael Porter, if he is even half what people were saying he is a few months ago.
Who the heck is Whitehead? Do you mean Hassan Whiteside? They traded for him?

cohenbc1ParticipantOh! Wow, what’s crazy that it would have actually been a decent haul for Hassan Whiteside — like $20 mil in expiring contracts and a first-round pick.
I wonder how protected that pick is. Solid as Denver’s roster looks, they could still end up in the lottery, because Western Conference.

BleedGreen808ParticipantAccording to Woj the 1st round pick is top 12 protected.

BleedGreen808ParticipantI’m glad that IT will get an opportunity to prove he can still play at a high level. This past season with the Cavs and Lakers you could tell he didn’t have the same burst he had when he was in Boston. Isaiah thrived playing with a great passing big in Al Horford so playing with Jokic should get him similarly good looks out of PnR and DHO actions.

Reptilian MonkParticipantFrom a +100 mill contract to 2 million. Ouch

Ahkasi ClayParticipantI could use a ouch like that.

Jr. ROXASParticipantAmazing deal fr Brooklyn. They get a first round pick, a player with a skill they desparately need (rebounding) in Faried and a solid veteran in Arthur for Whitehead who they always stick in the G-league anyways.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantNot sure if either Faried or Arthur will ever actually play for the Nets. It was a good deal from the standpoint of clearing up cap space for next season and likely getting another likely first round pick in next years draft.

Jr. ROXASParticipantI’m pretty sure Faried will play since he’s got a lot to oofer for that organization skill-wise. Arthur won’t be playing, but he will be that steady locker room guy to replace Jeremy Lin and Dante Cunningham.

celtics1982ParticipantGetting Thomas is huge for the Nuggets. Why trade a first to get below the taxline this year? Bad business, they could have got below next year. In a stacked West one injury and that could be a good pick. Late lottery picks are really useful. You also lose depth. Unless they plan on adding another player like Thomas it makes little sense.

frogmanParticipantEasy when it’s not your money lol. Doesn’t want to pay millions in tax when they have no chance of competing for a title. I like this Nuggets team. Should get a lower seed in the Western conference so good piece of business from the Nets if they can get a pick around 16 – 20.

SmooveKRYPTParticipant1. They clearly don’t think they’re going to be a late lottery team – I don’t see them missing the playoffs again.
2. They don’t want to start the repeater tax cycle.
3. Is it really losing depth if neither guy was a rotation player? They have Milsap, Lyles, Jokic, and Plumlee taking up all the big man minutes.
4. They have plenty of young guys with room to grow. Beasley, MPJ, Vanderbilt, Lydon & Hernangomez just to name the talented guys they have that weren’t in their rotation last year…then you still have Murray, Harris, Jokic as core guys who are still nowhere near their primes. Adding another rookie to that group isn’t a priority. Vets who bring a defined skillset and role (like IT) make more sense for them at this stage.

HitsterParticipantNice deal by the Nets adding a decent asset in Faried and a pick. Sean Marks has done a decent job rebuilding the team with no picks hardly.
I feel sorry for IT given he went from huge deal to minimum guy.
I would have thought for that sort of money one of the powerhouse teams would have bitten his hand off as he’d likely be put in the same sort of role as he’ll have in Denver. Plus he’d get a shot at a title too. GSW could always have been more loaded and IT under a D’Antoni system in Houston seems a perfect match. Even staying at Lakers – they could have saved several million on signing Rondo and IT’s speed would have complimented LBJ.

HobbyOGParticipantWonder what turned ORL away from IT, would of been a better move. He could of put up great numbers on the East with more minutes and poentially increased their wins.
