so D.Cousins signs with GSW and it seems the world is over for every NBA fan and for the media…well once again, i’m going against the tendency and i actually think that this move will be the end of the Warriors dinasty; let me explain this "chronicle of a death foretold":

a year ago at this time of the year, a made a post about my prediction for the western conference playoff picture, and i wrote that the Warriors (if healthy), had 99% of chances to win the title because of the absurd "collective numbers" they had had for the last 3 seasons; numbers that no other franchise in history had ever had: http://www.nbadraft.net/forum/west-conf-playoff-picture

today, everyone says the Warriors have 99’9% of chances to win the title; i think that this Warrior team will be the worse of the last 4 years, and their chances will be no greater than 49% and depending where K.Leonard lands, those chances will be even lower.

after Warriors won the 2015 title, i thought Kerr was a genius, because i felt he had understood how "general conditions" work, and i thought he acted consequently, for example moving D.Lee to the bench for Draymond to play even faster and especially to have a better defense.

but the next season during playoffs, i understood that Kerr did not understand anything and all this "Warriors thing" was something that just emerged naturally under the current conditions.

.in the 2016 WCF against OKC, Warriors were down 3-1 and were almost dead; everybody said it was because Durant and WB were just being better than Curry and company, but…i didn’t. To me main reason was because Bogut was not playing at all, just 13min/g in 1st 4 games, and Kerr was just playing with his "death lineup": http://www.nbadraft.net/forum/steve-kerr-2

Kerr as well as fans were fascinated with the "death lineup", and thought that was the elixir of eternity, but it wasn’t; the real small ball that really worked for them was playing with 4 smalls and Bogut as their rim protector, if not, the experiment did not work in playoffs. That was their real identity and Bogut was part of that identity that won 73 games.: http://www.nbadraft.net/forum/steve-kerr-2#comment-790468

what did Kerr do in games 4 and 5¿? well Bogut played 30 and 28 min. respectively and the Warriors finally won the series.

Then they played the Finals against the Cavs, and after a 3-1 start, they finally lost. Why? most people say because Curry was playing injured or because of Draymonds suspension, but to me it was clear again; the first 4 games Bogut didn’t play much (14 min/g) but at least enough to make a difference; in game 5 Bogut got injured and only played 7min and then missed the last 2 games and Warriors lost the finals after losing those last 3 games.

. in 2016-17 the GSW got Durant and everyone thought they would win easily; but once in playoffs, the only team that could beat them, that is the SPURS, were just killing them at home after 3 quarters, while K.Leonard was embarrassing the DPY. In the 3rd quarter with 7 min left and SA up by 21, Pachulia injured Leonard and saved the Warriors from a historical debacle.

. in 2017-18 the Warriors were playing full time with their "small death lineup" without a rim protector and centering the team around Durant, big mistake. The Warriors original identity was getting more blurred each time.

in those playoffs against Houston in the WCF, the Warriors were down 3-1 and again like in the past, they were almost dead. TheWarriors were not playing their only rim protector, MgGee, and they were slowing their pace big time and changing again their identity in order to adapt to Durant, while Curry was hold into that pace; Kerr was just not understanding anything and was being enbarrassed by D’Antony: http://www.nbadraft.net/forum/rockets-and-warriors#comment-833297

but Kerr and the Warriors got lucky again, and C.Paul got injured. Then they beat a horrible Cavs team in the finals. Not only they got lucky with Paul’s injury, but also with K.Leonard injury again and with Kyrie and Haywards injuries, because it would have to be seen what would have happened with those.

. this 2018-19 season, the Warriors have signed Cousins. Huge mistake. Not only they get rid of their only rim protector in MgGee, but they sign a player that doesn’t defend nor protect the rim, while slowing their pace even more.

The GSW identity is gonna be absolutely blurred with the addition of Cousins, an identity that was already hurt big time with the additions of Durant, because i think that the original Warriors team did not need Durant at all; in fact they won 73 games without him, and in the last 2 seasons they’ve been increadibly lucky with other’s injuries.

But i don’t think that it will happen a 3rd time, that would be too much luck, and these Warriors are not gonna be the Warriors anymore during playoffs with Cousins, and i believe they’ll be the worst Warriors of this dinasty.

i predict that this year the Warriors dinasty will end, a chronicle of a death foretold that begun with the "death of a lineup".

I don’t disagree at all, I think they’ve been incredibly talented and incredibly lucky. Cousins will change this team for the negative. I still think he’s lame for signing, and I don’t blame the warriors for doing it, but I agree the end result will be negative.

Fact check brah the rockets were never up 3 to 1.  In fact the rockets were down 2 to 1 before winning 2 straight.  You just got flat out Bogdanned.

you’re right they were down 3-2 instead of 3-1 so that point for you, nice move 🙂

You don’t get to the truth by taking a few loose facts, and blending them into a plausible story.

Your interpretation is entertaining, nice storytelling, but that’s about it.

       loose facts¿?

. Is it not a fact that GSW were down 3-1 against OKC in the WCF, being murdered the last 2 of those games by 28 and 26 pts and OKC averaging 125’5 pts/g, and then in games 5&6 Bogut played an average of almost 29min/g after having played only 13min/g in previous 4 games while leaving OKC in 106 pts/g, and GSW ended up winning those series?

. Is it not a fact that GSW were up 3-1 against Cavs in those Finals, and once Bogut got injured in game 5 after having played only 7 min and missing the last 2 games, the Warriors lost those 3 last games and therefore the finals?

. Is it not a fact that the Spurs were raping the Warriors in the 1st game of the 2017 WCF in Oakland with Pachulia as their starting center, whom paradoxically saved his team injuring K.Leonard?

. Is it not a fact that GSW were down 3-2 against Houston in the 2018 WCF with K.Looney as their rim protector and with GSW being hold at a 94’5 pace because of Durant while the team playing an unrecognazible and ugly basketball, and only got saved by the bell with C.Paul’s injury?

. Is it not a fact that this last season the GSW have played their worst defense since their dinasty began, being only the 11th best defense in the league while playing their "death lineup" in full time mode?

what should be the interpretation of these facts¿?

Yeah, not buying it. They’re just as strong and likely even better. They have another guy that can score on anyone one on one. It was a no brainer signing Boogie for 5 mil.

You make it sound like the Warriors planned strategically and cut McGee loose to sign Boogie. McGee up and left first. They werent going to get anyone near as capable as Boogie for 5 mil and you are absolutely on crack if you think Javale would’ve been a better signing.

Jordan Bell can contribute more and help defend the rim. McCaw will be healthy. They drafted Evans. Now finally, they have an all star, potential All NBA center to get them buckets. Good luck double teaming.. Curry, Klay and KD are 3 of the 4 you could potentially leave wide open. The other guy could be a fan and they’d still make the playoffs.

The one problem the Warriors may have had was matching up with Embiid if the Sixers made the finals because Draymond gives away a lot of size. Boogie isn’t an all NBA defender but he is a bigger body. I think they already had the lineup that would get them past the Rockets and Celtics, and I don’t think LeBron has enough talent around him at the moment. If he has another season like the last one he could drag the Lakers into the mix, but I really can’t see that’d even get them to the WCF. I honestly can’t see anyone really getting near them. I actually think the Pelicans may be their biggest threat in the West.

If GS does not win it will not be because of Cousins.  He is signed on a 5.x one year contract.  If it is not working out all they will just cut him and eat the contract.

I agree that GS has benefited from injuries and they have played a lot of games the last few years.  It will catch up with them.

Not betting against the Warriors. Cousins is just as likely to be their ’86 Walton.

I am taking the Warriors again. Although, odds are they don’t get a 3peat.

After this season I think the Lakers keep tweaking and they take it all over the Boston Celtics in ’20.

Rich get richer.. Warriors just picked up the very underrated Jerebko on the minimum. Another 3 ball threat from the 4 man spot.

great, but where is their rim protector?

To me this time, the richer has a hole in its pocket and is losing lots of money without realizing…

last season their defense dropped drastically, being only the 11th best in the league; the Warriors superiority over the rest of the league was due to their unique balance between offense and defense, but now, with a mediocre defense due in big part for not having a rim protector, the Warriors are very beatable.

Until someone (Curry,Green,Thompson, or Durant) decides enough of this discount stuff I wanna get paid, the Warriors will be the odds on favorites every year. I think there is a real shot Durant or Thompson walks next year to get more money. That’s when we can start having the real death of the Warriors conversation.
