 I don’t know if any of you follow the former ESPN NBA writer Chris Palmer in Twitter but he just tweeted that sources say Kerr to Golden State. Maybe Kerr will be a good coach but I still don’t understand firing Jackson and how Kerr is getting offers before guys like George Karl and Liones Hollins.

 you’re absolutely right.  Kerr is a well-spoken guy and a great analyst, but why is he such a coveted head coach?  He has absolutely zero head coaching experience on any level.  Is he really an upgrade over Mark Jacskon?  I can’t believe George Karl hasn’t been mentioned for any jobs.  Karl is a really good coach and I srtill don’t know why the Nuggets fired him.  Kerr was a lock to coach the Knicks with Phil Jackson, but I’m shocked he chose the Warriors.  California ties perhaps?

 Also, I completely agree w/ @cp5 and @TarHeelRaven.  What is wrong w/ George Karl? And how can you make the Western Conference Finals, which is a major task in the Western conference and not be able to land a job (Hollins)?  They could be waiting for the right offer, and from what I have heard in the past is after issues w/ management in Memphis Lionel Hollins wants to make sure he has more personal influence.

I wonder what Phil has up his sleeve now.  I think Karl should go to the Knicks.  I mean the Knicks are still New York so they need someone w/ a name and capable of winning.  I feel like coaches are tentative to go their due to the insane amount of pressure from the city itself, and media scrutiny. Karl has also coached Carmelo before and had successful teams in Denver, such as in 2008 when they were the #2 seed in the West. It didn’t end w/ great playoff success, but at this point making the playoffs needs to be almost guaranteed, and I think Karl could at least do that for New York

The last thing the Knicks would do is hire George Karl if they want to keep Melo. Karl has been on the record several times throwing Melo under the bus and saying that he is simply not a player you can win a championship with.

 I think that Phil’s big move would have been going with Kerr. It’s been clear that he wants someone who he sees eye to eye with and that they have a similar type of idea about how the game should be played. Could he go after Derek Fisher, assuming he retires at the end of the playoffs? I don’t know whether that would be a good idea or not, but maybe he is determined to have someone that he has a previous familiarity with.

Jason Kidd going straight from the court to the sideline was pretty crazy and I hadn’t seen anything like that in my time, and then Fisher doing the same thing just one year later…crazy.  I think it would be awesome, as well as create quite a stir.

How is he a better Head Coach than Marc Jackson, I get the personality issues MJ has with him Being headstrong and all, but why is Kerr being considered a better fit as a Coach? 

Soft spoken guys like Steve Kerr who were never great players to begin with will always have a hard time coaching up super talented guys like Curry and Company, sure players "like" coaches like Kerr until the losses pile up and he starts holding players accountable, than the players run the soft spoken coach out of town

Mark Jackson must have been an insufferable SOB if he couldnt give it another shot with that squad, my biggest concern is what happens if they back slide next year and miss the playoffs? Does Kerr get the benefit of the doubt because he played with Jordan and was coached by Phil? 

I smell something fishy and I wonder why more people aren’t questioning this entire decision

Jackson was successful, not the best X’s and O’s guy or very well liked by his staff or owner, he simply got results and was liked/loved by his players (who should matter more than assistants)

Its ironic that Kerr was so sought after. I don’t get it. When he was in office with the Phoenix Suns, he refused to consider candidates who had not coached before. Now, when he became the candidate they all wanted him. It could be fishy or it could just be he’s highly respected.

I personally think it’s sort of all stemming from the media and they way they kept his name floating out there for every vacancy.
