publius2481ParticipantTony Parker has agreed to a two year deal with the Hornets. I like this signing for them. While I think he is a backup at this point, a smart veteran like him is valuable (especially since the Hornets are trying to make the playoffs).

r377ParticipantEveryone thought the hornest were rebuilding and kemba was for trade……….. now this
Parker is old and injury prone. this is a shock, i was 99% he would retire a Spur

BleedGreen808ParticipantNever thought I’d see Parker play in a different uniform. It rarely happens anymore but it felt like he’d be one of those players that only play for 1 team in their career.

XYRYXParticipantMan I‘m massively shocked too!
I can’t imagine him not in a Spurs Jersey and already checked the box on him as a member in the 1club only All Time Great list.
Hope the Spurs don’t collapse right now and hopefully we don’t see a Jerry Sloan kind of exit with Pop/Sloan and Kawhi/Deron Williams characters…
Sad to see Parker leave, don’t have any imagination how he works in another enviroment but probably still fine when or better if he stays healthy.

RUDEBOY-ParticipantIsn’t Charlotte’s new coach a former Spurs assistant? And Last year Parker mentioned he wants to play 20 seasons even if it wasn’t with the Spurs. He was 1 of the Spurs that was outspoken about Kawhi’s situation.

weballin.netParticipanthe won’t finish his career with the Spurs. Even if I’m not a fan of Parker, you can only respect his career, from 29th pick to one of the top PG in the game and a multiple champion

HitsterParticipantAlways a shame when a one team player moves on but it happens and I’d figure Tony has parted on good terms with Pops and Burford.
Tony doesn’t need ton chase a title as he has about 4 already so playing time may appeal to him and if the Hornets do move Kemba then they have a safe pair of hands to run the point and more likely mentor any new young PG.

CU.LIONSParticipantWhat is the point of this signing? so they can be the best lottery team? If your going to rebuild then rebuild. Just as I said in the Lavine thread, bad teams stay bad.

Jr. ROXASParticipantI guess the Hornets want to take another shot in the playoffs, and I think they have a real chance. The last year they made the playoffs, they had Lin backing up Kemba or playing alongside him as a second guard. Kemba now has that with Parker and Monk, especially with Monk because CLifford refused to give the guy minutes even if he was playing good.
Also, they got rid of Howard which I think is addition by subtraction. Zeller is a way better fit with Kemba and Batum, and they have insane chemistry with him. Also, they will start the season with both Batum and Zeller healthy, which is a first.

The GoatParticipantParker wants to fool around and get paid for a few more years, so he can hang out with his French buddy Batum and back up Kemba. It’s hard to get anyone to go to Charlotte. He’s pretty much done, but he’s a winner, young guys will be happy to play with him and he should still be able to give them a good 10-12 minutes a nite.

BigChamp12ParticipantI really don’t understand the move. I don’t get it from the Hornets standpoint nor Tony’s. I don’t see how the Hornets make the playoffs. Heat, Pistons, Bucks, Wizards, Celtics, Raptors, Pacers, Sixers. I think those teams are locks.
I also wonder if the Kawhi beef had anything to do with it.

BallerScriptParticipantMalik Monk was interviewed about it and it was the first he’d heard of the signing
He was absolutely stoked and said he was going to get his number straight away and learn as much as possible from Parker
Really cool signing for the young guys.0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/07/2018 - 11:23am #1121797
celtics1982ParticipantThe minute the Hornets made the Dwight Howard trade it was clear they were competing. They made that move to clear money so they could sign players like Parker. Without that move they had no room without going over luxury tax line.
