Dog_ShammdogParticipantI should probably wait until the dust settles to start prognosticating about the Lakers, but with the news about Boogie signing with the Warriors, I just can’t help it. Even if the Lakers trade for Kawhi, I can’t see them seriously competing with a healthy Warriors squad. So I’m really hoping that Magic, Rob and Lebron truly are in for developing a contender with the Lakers young core. They can do so while also being big players in free agency 2019, and it might take hitting on all three young guys and in free agency 2019 to seriously compete with the Warriors.
For as much flack as Lonzo has gotten for his jumper and his dad, he had a solid all around rookie year and showed some innate skills/instincts that bode very well for him going forward. His jumper was straight broke, but his defense, court savvy, vision, playmaking etc was all very encouraging. Kyle Kuzma is just a flamethrower, and Brandon Ingram has the potential to be the secondary scorer/shot creator that Lebron truly needs. Whether they’re far enough along on their timelines to give Lebron and the Lakers what they need is yet to be seen, but I’m beginning to think they’re going to have to see it out.
If Ingram takes an Oladip-esque jump, and Lonzo rediscovers his jumper, things would be much more interesting than if they traded both – and more – for Kawhi. Those are some big ifs, but with what LA is up against with GSW, they’re going to need things to turn out well a whole heck of a lot. Luckily GSW won’t be able to keep all those guys happy/paid forever, but in the meanwhile the Lakers need to get the most out of the hand they’re dealt.
Do you think the Lakers should feel more or less pressure to trade for Kawhi after the Boogie news? Where do you see things going from here? Just want to vent about the Warriors?

halfdecayedParticipantthis is non sense, Kawhi to LA does not matter this year, the Warriors will win. You don’t give up anything for Kawhi, he’s probably coming next year anyway. Develop your young core and develop chemistry with Lebron. Basically, practice for a year.

Dog_ShammdogParticipantThat’s what I just said. Glad I’m not the only one who believes so.

festar35ParticipantLA just needs to wait. Develop the heck out of Ingram, Kuzma, Ball & Hart then go sign Kawhi Leonard out right next summer. If GSW can attract a guy like Boogie I imagine Lakers may have the same train of thought once they get Kawhi on the roster.

MopgrassParticipantWhy don’t they have a center? JaVale McGee can’t handle starting minutes. Right now he starts and Moritz Wagner is the backup. Eek. Brook Lopez might sign, but how much better will they be than last year? I mean, they probably make it out of the 1st round of playoffs. But that’s it, unless something changes.

BeastMode716ParticipantI realize the Warriors prob win the Title again next year – but it’s Very tough to keep wiining.
Boogie will be coming off a Tragic injury & that Many others have Never recovered from
We also do Not want to just Throw away One prime Lerbon NBA season when he will turn 34 in December. W/ Kahwi the Lakers would have 2 of the Top 5 NBA players & they’d have a full year to Grow together & be ready to ADD next summer
By Not going to get Kawhi right now what are we accomplishing!?!?!?!? The two – 1st Rnd picks & pick swaps the Spurs want will be next to worthless. Now let’s look at the players the Spurs supposedly want: Josh Hart? who cares. Brandon Ingram – decent young player that we’d prob use in a trade anyway & Kyle Kuzma who is the best of those 3 –
Losing Kuzma would hurt – yes. But w/ Lebron & Kawhi the staring Wing & Power 4ward (point 4ward) Kuzma would be coming off the bench anyway – would I liek to keep Kuzma??? YES! of course, is Kuzma worth Not getting Kawhi immediately & possibly RISK losing him to a team like Philadelphia where Kawhi would fit Perfectly in what would Immed become a Crazy Young 3 Super Star line up that would almost Def go to the Finals right away & what’s stop Kawhio from Staying in Phila!
Go get Kwhi RIGHT NOW & let’s get this LA Party Started!!!
