Competive balance is screwed. Silver should step in. 5 All Stars on one team

Looks like they got the offer in before Lakers did but it is getting stupid. If he’d gone to Houston or a top Eastern Team for same deal then at least it’s interesting.

Wow not sure about this move for GS. Cousins never made the playoffs in Sac, and NO went on a run and made the playoffs when he went down.

Would be one of the greatest achievements and underdog stories in sports history if they won it all with only 5 All NBA players in their primes.

Im not a warriors fan but you all crying need to deal with it. They convinced a guy to turn down 100+ million dollars and if he hurts himself the same way, he’ll never get it back. Petition your teams to do a better job.

At the end of the day, they still have to make the plays and play in the finals, so someone from the east is going to end up maximum 4 games away from a title.

Lets take a few mins here to think about Cousins. It is actually a sensible and mature move.

I personally get sick to death of these players saying they want to win a championship but then sign for max money like $30+mill.  If you want to win, you have to sacrafice $$ to sign other good FA.

Cousins has sacraficed $$ and fame etc.  He won’t be the number 1 option, he won’t have to whinge at Klay or Steph for not hitting threes.

I personally like the move for Cousins, like i said sensible and mature. I wish him well and hope he can stay healthy.  He won’t have to play 80 games of 40+ mins a night with the warriors.  Good choice Cousins, I wish you well…..

This is just crazy smh. I didn’t think anything would top LeBron going to LA, but this did. I just don’t get it. $5.3 million when he’s worth $20-$30 million.

Gotta agree. This is maybe the most out of left field signing of all time. Game, Blouses.

He didn’t get the max deal he was looking for so he said "screw you" to all those teams and decided to try to play for a ring instead of play on a losing team on a prove it one year deal. He will probably get his max deal next year if he comes back healthy and be gone after a year.

He is not worth $20-$30mil when no team offered him that or had the money too.  Teams were scared off of him because of the achilles.  His options were to sign below market value short term 1 year maybe with a 2nd year option deal.  If you are in his shoes and that is your option do you resign with your current team for cheap, join forces with Lebron/Harden/Irving/whoever to ring chase the Warriors, or join the best team?  Either way your making the same amount of reduced money because of the injury he made the smartest choice.

I see your point. I guess I’m thinking pre injury Cousins or whenever he’s healthy.

Even still though. It’s just hard to fathom that *DeMarcus Cousins* is being paid $5.3 million lol.

Is this honestly true? I know it’s a serious injury but I feel like given Cousins obvious ability you could comfortably throw him 12-18mil and not feel bad at all if it didn’t quite workout…

I will say this though to those of you who are about to quit watching the NBA lol.

This may not work out. For one, he’s a big dude and is coming off of a serious career changing lower body injury. He won’t even be ready to return until Jan/Feb and even when he does return, how good will he be? For one, he’ll have to play his way into game shape and who knows how he’ll recover from this injury.

It could also be a chemistry altering move with him joining so late in the season. How will the Warriors implement him into their offense? How will he defend? How will he react when the Warriors go small and he’s on the bench? I’m actually very curious to see how this turns out. This doesn’t feel right lol.

This is basically what I said when the talk was him going to LA. He’s also never made the playoffs. Even with all that, the Warriors have proven they can integrate just about anyone seamlessly. If he doesn’t fit, they won’t play him.

Just heard a story that Dwight Howard wanted to go to GS, but they basically told him "no thanks" and signed Cousins. This is so crazy.

       haha thats funny.

Dwight howard – you know when your stock hits rock bottom: when the biggest headcase in the NBA and coming off a severe injury is still picked over you !!

Dwight Howard is a head case and locker room killer himself nobody likes playing with him.  And he has not been right since his back injury.  Cousins is still an All NBA player Dwight hasn’t been at that level in 7 years.  No team in their right mind would take Dwight Howard over Demarcus Cousins.

So now they have a starting 5 that is top 3 at each of their positions, and arguably the best 6th man in the league.

I already thought the Warriors were a joke, and I always said there’s no point in even playing the season, but this time it’s serious. I’ve been a huge NBA fan since I was about 7 years old and for the first time ever I might be done, I just don’t see the point anymore.

The league has to do something about this but they won’t, the Warriors make them too much money and unfortunately for us real fans the casual fans will probably increase in viewership.

We might as well just go right ahead and give them 2-3 more trophies tomorrow, and then let’s break the league up and start over from scratch with a player draft.

This is an embarassment on not only the NBA or basketball but all sports.

There is nothing to stop any team putting a load of players together if they have the cap space and players would take less than market average to win a title. Lets say the Lakers had somehow got virtually all the top FA’s to take $10 million a year on a one year deal and create a Dream Team.

Guys would probably do this as the spin offs they can make would probably cover lost salary especially if it was done in a Tax friendly state lets say Miami. The players association might be more concerned as top players would be putting winning before money and forcing the market down.

I don’t blame DMC going all in for a title. KD took less money not that much of a cut to go to GSW and David West took a big cut but he was veteran status then.

If DMC is happy to take GSW then they have done a great deal signing him. If Ainge or Burford had got him for that much we’d be calling them geniuses.

Its a crazy signing. He’s a great player. Yet he will force them to play big. They are at their best with Green at center and KD at PF. He’s also coming off an injury. Also this is only one year, they can’t give more than like 6.5 million next year. If he’s healthy he’ll get way more than that.
