Evan_MilbergParticipantWow, that’s a bargain, considering the talk earlier this year that someone like Dallas might overpay for him. Great pickup for the Pels. There were many Lakers games I watched this year where I came away feeling Randle was the best player on the team. Think his game is really going to mesh well with AD.

negguaryParticipantbut also feels like an inevitable goodby to Cousin’s

Reptilian MonkParticipantGood pickup for the Pels. Seems like Boogie may be out of town though, could be to the Lakers with Rondo. AD/ Randle/ Mirotic is a good big man rotation and seem to compliment each other well. They could all play at the same time also Mirotic 3 Randle 4 Ad 5

The GoatParticipantA bench unit of Payton Moore Miller Mirotic and Randle really works, the problem is they need people to start with Holiday and Davis. They need two wings and Boogie. I dont know their cap position. Can they squeeze guys in? Avery Bradley and Kyle Anderson would be perfect.

OhCanada-ParticipantEither Mirotic or Randle will be starting. Its most likely they promised Randle a starting role or he wouldve signed elsewhere. Davis can play C and allow Mirotic to be a 6th man candidate. Holiday will likely start at SG an d Payton and Frank Jackson will compete for the starting PG position.
They still have a huge hole at SF but have a couple guys on their summer league team I think can fit a role Trevon Bluiett and DJ Hogg.
Bluiett is an NBA player he can shoot and defend. He’s not just a shooter either as he averaged 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists last year. Playing on Xavier he was the 1st option in one of basketballs toughest conferences the Big East and arguably the conferences best scorer.
In the NBA he will have so much room to operate as a shooter as teams will no longer be gameplanning for him and he will have less shot attempts as well which should allow him to play more effecient. I just dont see how he will fail to make an impact and I understand he’s 24 but to see other guys out of the Big East get drafted so highlike Bridges, Divincenzo, Brunson and Evans when he has proven he is the same calibur player and has lit those guys up countless times including 40 against Evans. His height and length is on par with the league average for wings and I get he isnt a standout athlete but that shouldnt matter when your job is to knockdown jumpshots and play hard.

CoachWyersParticipantAs a Laker fan seeing it only took $9mil per year to get Randle, I much rather have Randle at the $9mil price than Rondo. To me Rondo is only worth about $3mil a year at this stage in his career Lakers made a mistake there, but I am sure Randle wanted a lot more than $9mil from the Lakers and he had to settle for a lower price once they renounced him.

DondiJohnParticipantWhy would the lakers need Rondo if you already have Ball and LBJ who can play point? LBJ needs shooters and though Randle is not that consistent, he can hit the occassional 3 and rebound the ball and push it. The market for shooters are very thin now. Ellington and Bjelica are the best I can see now.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantI don’t think randle would have taken a one year deal and the lakers didn’t want to eat into their cap space for next summer. That’s why it was kind of inevitable that he would have to go.
2 yrs at 18 mil seems like pretty good value for a player with randles level of production, especially considering Aaron Gordon just got 4 yrs and 84 mil with pretty similar overall stats. Randle is just kind of one of those guys that doesn’t exactly fit where the league is going right now, being a pf-c that doesn’t really stretch the floor or protect the rim. I kind of had a feeling the market for him wouldn’t be that great.

RUDEBOY-ParticipantESPN reported Randle asked to renounced after it became clear his role will be diminished. That’s why he signed with NO so quick after Lakers let him go.

Jr. ROXASParticipantThat’s a freakin bargain for the Pelicans. Randle I feel could’ve got much more money somewhere else. Great defender and ball-handler for a big, as a well as an excellent rebounder. You rarely find those kind of guys right now.

Andv1 WaitingParticipantThe Lakers were only going to give him a 1 year deal or always use him as a trade chip especially after P.G spurned them(Agent is P.G’s). He moved before he was pushed out eventually with either Lebron making the calls or Being traded for someone lebron wanted.
How he fits either he will be a 6th man or the starter with Davis is most likely the same role as he had with the Lakers either 6th man off the bench or at Center. This is probably going to be a more stable role than what he would have gotten with the Lakers.
