I’ve been having a debate with my friends. Who’ll be the better duo in three seasons? Embiid and Simmons or Ayton and Booker? What are you thoughts and why?

Until ayton and booker both prove they can be competent defenders in the nba, I think this is a relatively easy debate.

Tough call. I do believe Embiid and Simmons individually are/will be better. But to me there is big difference between regular season stat stuffing, and playing in nba finals. And Simmons poor shooting will be exposed when the chips are on the line in the 4th quarter of a big playoff game. With Ayton and booker, you got 2 go to guys that you have to focus on. But with gun to my head, give me Embiid and Simmons. I just love Embiid’s game and toughness

‘What are you thoughts’: Embid and Simmons will be 1.1490 times better.

    ‘Why’: Embiid = 1.0443 x Ayton; Simmons = 1.0128 x Booker; chemistry factor = 1.1172 in favor of Embiid/Simmons. (1.0443 + 1.0128) : 2 x 1.1172 = 1.1490

Devin Booker has been in the league three years and has yet to guard anybody.

It’s hard for me to make an argument that he needs to be on any list unless it’s a list of players who have led their team to 20 wins three years in a row.

Gotta agree with you. The kid can play, but he’s put up good numbers on AWFUL teams. Phoenix being terrible isn’t all on him, but if he were as good as people claim it would contribute to at least a few more wins. This isn’t even an argument.

     are Dominant!

Both are all NBA Defenders – these two have played less than 100 games each & they took a 10 win team to 50+ & look for them to be up around 60 wins next year

The Analytic stats on Embiid & Simmons are off the charts & they are just scratching the surface

For perspective I suggest listenting to Bill Simmons podcast conversation w/ JJ Reddick talking about how absloutely terrifying it was for Bill Simmons (a hard core C’s fan) to watch Simmons & Embiid

Here’s a quote: "Obviously Embiid was effected by that late season injury w/ his conditioning & Simmons struggled against Brad Stevens defense – but this is as bad as these 2 will ever be in the playoffs & there were stretches in these games were both Embiid & Simmons were absolutely unguardable & as a Celtics fan it scares me to death b/c I know they’ll get stronger & stronger each year for several more years before they even hit their peak""

Booker & Ayton will grow into an unstoppable offensive force but defensively they’ll never be anything even close to what Simmons & Embiid already are & in the playoffs that is a massive difference

That being said I Luv Phoenix core of Jackson, Booker, Ayton & Bridges – very similar to Phila’s Embiid, Simmons, Saric & Fultz —- 5 years from now as these teams grow into their primes they both will be at the top of their conferences competing year after year

Ayton has done zero and Booker has not played D in 3 years.

Simmons and Embiid in limited time have played all NBA defense, made a playoff run and have each carried the team offensively. If they can do that considering Joel didnt play most back to backs and Ben scored 16 a game using only layups, a right hand short hook and dunks, then the future is pretty bright.

Its no comparion right now due to the gap  in experience, but as soon as Joel plays more and Ben extends his range, its not even going to be close to a debate that anyone will ever need to have.

Embiid and Simmons. They are proven and have not even scratched the surface of their potential. Ayton and Booker could end up better but if you offer me $10 now I’ll take it over $5 now ‘and maybe’ another $10 later.

I’m a Suns fan and I am going with Simmons and Embiid. They are going to be hard to beat in the East for the next 10 years if they can stay healthy. But Booker and Ayton are going to be a pretty amazing duo for years to come, especially with their additional core of Jackson, Bridges and cap space. Booker has gotten a bad rep for playing 3 years on horrible teams but those teams were atrocious and Booker is till only 21 years old. He is about in a similar place as Kyrie was before Lebron showed up. I can’t wait to see Ayton go up against Embiid in their first game. We will see who has the last laugh on that one.

Depends on when we are talking about?

I would give it at least until the end of this coming season before I had an opinion on this.

As Ayton we don’t know what he is capable of doing at the next level just yet. If he dominates like embiid did straight out of the gates then we can at least look at this topic..

But if I had to choose solely on which duo had the better potential(Right now its obviously Simmons and Embiid) it would be the Booker and Ayton duo for the following reasons.

Booker has a jumpshot and range on his shot.

Booker and Ayton both  have legit franchise player potential.

Ayton has less health concerns compared to Embiid.

Booker and Ayton can play off each other rather than making the other sort of redundent due to not having the ball/needing the ball.

The issues with building around the 76ers Duo is this:

Embiid health concerns-Can he legit stay on the court.

Simmons-if he gets no jumper he will eventually become sort of like Rubio and teams will dare him to shoot resulting in a lot of empty possesions.

Injury concerns with simmons also(that preexisting foot injury history).

As for defense both duos come with risk and rewards… I would like to see what Bookers defense was like when he had a legit 2nd and 3rd offensive options and if Simmons does deciede to commit to defense legitmately also once they get a 3rd option…Ayton and Embiid defensively look like they could be similar players on that end but it will be interesting to see the differences once Ayton has had a couple of seasons to see that side of the floor as Embiid had 2 seasons around the league before he even got on the court which wouldn’t have hurt him and could have helped.

As a Suns fan I’m naturally rooting for Ayton and Booker but at the moment Embiid and Simmons look the better duo. Unless Ayton is the 2nd coming of Hakeem, he’ll need a few years to get up to anything like Embiid’s level plus we don’t know how much upside Embeast still has.

At first Embiid/Simmons seems obvious. Then you factor in injuries, and shooting. Lets see Ayton play first, until then, philly.
