selecting Marvin Bagley with the number one pick? Not trade down, collect an additional asset and then select him, but actually take him straight-up #1. I ask only because Bagley is such a hard prospect to compare.

If Phoenix keeps the pick, is it already a foregone conclusion that they are taking either Ayton or Doncic?

Bagley just seems like the kind of player who could really flourish within an imaginative, fast-paced offense that doubles down on his elite finishing ability. A style Phoenix could fairly easily implement in this next chapter.

    What do you all think?

I am one of the few, if any, that are on the wagon to take Marvin Bagley III over DeAndre Ayton. Bagley III has a motor out of this world, and if it’s the size that matters most to people, I see no problem with his frame to bulk up to around 245-250 lbs. down the line like Anthony Davis has done.

Look at Draymond Green it is mostly his motor and IQ that allow him to play center a lot.

I think the Suns have the go to scorer in Booker, a blossmining wing in JJ, Bagley I just think fits better with his intensity. If they hit on one other player in draft or free agency they cuold be threat in 2 years.

Felt like Bagley was number one for the point he reclassified. Thing is there are two to three other prospects who have similar potential to be great as him. Great draft!

I’m with you on Bagley, he’s one of the more unique prospects to come out and very hard to find a comp. I keep seeing TOR Chris Bosh mixed with Lamar Odom

Great rebounder, is highly active and gets buckets around the rim, midrange and has a developing three point shot. Then he can also take it coast to coast and is a better playmaker than he showed at Duke. I also think his defensive liability is way overblown, he should easily put up 1.5 blocks/stls apiece and play better man defense as he gets stronger

If I’m PHO im looking to trade down, they have so many holes on their roster needing to be filled…

Saw him a couple of times in HS, and thought he was a Shareef Abdur-Rahim/Lamar Odom hybrid. He’s the only player from this draft I see as a sure thing. I get that dominant bigs are rare, and the European kid has a ton of hype, but if I have the #1 pick I take Bagley

I could see the Suns taking Bagley first if the consensus became he should be the number one pick. Otherwise if the Suns wanted Bagley I imagine they’d make a deal with a team who badly wants Ayton or Doncic.

You know Ive been thinking about this too. My thoughts were if both players are projected to be offensive oriented big men then wouldnt Bagley’s potential skillset be more advanced. Defensively Ayton shows way more upside though and he already has the size to be dominant at the C position so he gets the nod but I do expect Bagley to be a better offensive player. If Ayton does not get better defensively theres a chance Bagley has a better career because he is a much more creative scorer.

As much as I like the idea of taking Bagley first, if Phoenix does that they’d essentially be saying they’re giving up on Bender and Chriss’ ability to reach their potential. And although the young PFs in Phoenix have been disappointing so far, I think it’s too early to give up on them. I think they have to take Ayton.

Interesting point, Bagley is back up to number 2 on the site’s mock so Phoenix will surely have a look at him. I wonder if they would like to work out the top bigs with someone like Chriss or Bender to see what the best mix might be. Or if they could get Tyson Chandler in and see how the young bigs work out with a savvy veteran like him.

If their coach was really sold on Doncic and they thought other teams may not fancy him then a trade down could be possible as a lot of teams would covet the top spot.

But personally I feel they have to draft and keep the top pick as the team needs BPA.

Isn’t there a rule that prevents current players on your team playing/working with prospects during work outs?

Which position do the Suns need morer right now. PF or C? Yes, Bagley played Center at times with Duke but I think most of us know that he better at PF, than he is a Center. Ayton has only played Center at Arizona and its the postition he plays best at.

Len is an unrestricted free agent this offseason and likely the Suns will let him leave. Chriss won’t be a restricted free agent until next offseason (same year Bender will be one too. Which means Chriss and Bender mostly likely will be unrestricted free agents in 2021.

Obviously, Suns should replace the position that they will likely not have next year, which as I just described is C. Both Bagely and Ayton can play Center, both are more offensive than defensive, but I believe Ayton is showing all this offensive stuff because of the style Arizona plays. He could play defensively if his team wants him too, so can Bagely, but Ayton would be better at it because he’s taller, and Center is his natural position, which it is not for Bagley. Suns will likely play a more defensive style because their new coach is a defensive one. (and I think he’s just smarter than Sean Miller or Hornacek and Watson)

Yes, the NBA is becoming more non-position based, but Center is still a very necessary position as Utah has proven. (I think Center will always be a necessary position no matter what, as will PG.

Therefore I think Suns will still pick Ayton, although Bagely would not be a bad choice, but I think Ayton is more advantageuos for the reasons I just listed above.

Yeah if they let Len walk which I agree I see no reason to bring him back unless its a really small contract a big C could be more important.

I just don’t see any toughness or hustle in Bender or Chriss. They would really need to take a huge step on the defensive end to be a starter alongside Ayton. I just see Ayton as a kind of lazy defender. He could make some decent plays but just not the Anchor D player.
