Random topic, but I just sat back to realize that Sacramento is in position to possibly select another big if Dončić goes #1. If by any chance they select another big man, should we expect the worst because of the track record of not developing all the talent they’ve acquired over the years through the draft etc.?

If I was a player in the draft I would prefer someone other than Sacramento to draft me. The Kings have not been a well run franchise since Vivek Ranadive bought the team.

Their roster flips way too much, even after they acquire a decent piece to the puzzle.

It’s so easy to rip on Sacramento! Isn’t anyone getting tired of it? I think they’re trending up since getting rid of Cousins. They have a lot of depth, but they need to go get their best player. I mean they’ll never win anything if their best talent is already on the roster. They need a splash. Just listing the youth at their positions:

    5: WCS

    4: Giles/Skal

    3: Justin Jackson/JaKarr Sampson

    2: Bogdan/Hield

    1: Fox/Mason III

I’m going to guess they’d allow their pg position to grow since they were both rookies last year. Bogdan can also handle the ball. Skal didn’t grow the way they thought he might, but word is Giles has been very impressive. WCS hasn’t been great, but I don’t think many people were expecting him to be. They could use another big and a SF. I think Ayton would be great- a front court of him, WCS, Giles and Skal could be very solid and diverse. Or if they get Doncic a Fox, Bogdan, Luka trio with Hield, Mason and Jackson off the bench would be very solid and diverse.

I don’t think they can lose either way- I’d prefer Ayton fall to them. I think.

The problem is they’ll never be able to sign that free agent superstar to fill whatever hole this draft doesn’t cover.

If the Suns end up picking Doncic, I think Sacramento will be in a quite  favorable situation to trade away their other big/s, or the 2nd pick itself.

I know it is anti-climatic to trade away the 2nd pick, but they can definitely use it to net more higher picks in the future plus a young, budding player who can complete their core players of Fox, Bogdanovich, Skal, and WCS. This will be interesting.

The only real building block Sac has is Fox. Everyone else is role players and easily replace. Go best available with Doncic or Bagley. Luckily they cant mess it up as long as they take one of those guys, since they will both be good no matter how badly they are developed in Sac. Its been astonishing how poorly they have drafted and developed players over the last 10 year. Although, as a Suns fan we haven’t done much better. The worst thing they could do is draft a raw player like Bamba or Jackson because they will probably never develop.
