Evan_MilbergParticipantPer SLAM: http://www.slamonline.com/nba/paul-george-gone-after-season-thunder/
Looks like Paul George is on his way out of OKC, which we all knew at the beginning of the year was a very real possibility. Clearly the Russ/PG13/Melo experiment failed horribly, so it makes sense George would want out.
Two questions:
1) Where do you think he will go?
2) Where do you think he SHOULD go?
Obviously the Lakers are going to be at the top of the list and I can’t see George wanting to go anywhere else. That said, if he really cares about winning, the Lakers are still a few years away unless they also add LeBron (which I can’t see happening).
Interestingly, with all the people suggesting LeBron should go to Philly, I actually think George is a better fit with their needs. LeBron and Simmons could never coexist IMO, but George could give them that added boost they could use on the wing.

Striver347ParticipantI spoke about this with my friend earlier.
If he joins AD, Holiday, Rondo, and Jrue in New Orleans, they become even more formidable than they already are. They’re sorely lacking a 3-D small forward (Solomon Hill is an absolute waste of money) and PG gives them a plausible defender for the swingmen who play in the upper echelon of the Western conference. Seeing New Orleans utilize Clark, Moore, Mirotic, and Okafor in ways that optimize their lineup for offense and defensive purposes would be interesting to see.
His arrival would likely spell Cousins’ exit, which, seems to not bother New Orleans as of late. This is all conjecture and I think that would be an interesting idea to play with insofar as how New Orleans would essentially be able to match up with any team in the west with him on their wing.

high floorParticipantSF has been the biggest achilles heel for the Pelicans, and they are ready to start winning now with Jrue Holiday seemingly over his injury woes. Yes, that would signal an exit for Cousins…. but the fit is really interesting with PG-13 & that lineup would have four legit scorers & multiple two-way players within the starting 5. They would have a 56-58 win ceiling with relative health.

BogDon_KryptParticipantI think he’d be a great fit with the Pacers. Can you imagine him with Bogdan? Also – Myles Turner who hasn’t been mentioned lately on this site:

SubZeroParticipantI agree that Philly is a better fit for him than LA, but with his mentality and wanting to be *the* guy, I would bet on him going to LA over Philly because he wouldn’t be the man in Philly. Although I think the Clippers would be a better fit than the Lakers, but that’s obviously not the glamorous move to make
I would hope we could pull off a sign and trade with him, but that’s probably just wishful thinking. I’m just trying not to think about how PG will be gone, Oladipo and Sabonis are in Indiana, and Melo opts in for next year

iguapops420ParticipantCare to elaborate why the clippers would be a better fit?

SubZeroParticipantWell I typed out a response but I might have talked myself out of it lol. Either team would be fine really

Taylor Gang MikeParticipantI think he will go to Brooklyn or The Lakers

IndianaBasketballParticipantHe’s going to the Lakers. It’s been planned for what? Two years now?
PG wants to be Hollywood. Marketing is huge for him. Even though he’s more of a #2 in my opinion, he also wants to be THE guy.

The GoatParticipantSaying he goes, whats left for OKC? Surely Presti doesnt stand pat. Carmelo Anthony was virtually unplayable by the end of games in this last series, and while Westbrook is best going full speed, hes out of control without the right support players.
I see Presti getting George out in a sign and trade to get something back. I dont think he gets Boogie, but i think he gets an unwanted contract he may take a shot with, or a few young guys. To Houston for Ryan Anderson? To Brooklyn for Levert and a salary dump? Presti may even take Luol Deng and let PG go to the Lakers if they give him Kuz or a decent player back.

LOFTYParticipantHe’s going to L A, why would the Laker’s give anything up for him? They don’t need the salary room, they have enough where they’re at right now

Andv1 WaitingParticipantIf they do a sign and trade P.G gets his money. With OKC he gets 5 years with Lakers he gets 4.Meaning he will get more money staying with OKC or Sign and trading to L.A(which maybe one of the only options to get him)
If and I mean big if: P.G could say "Presti please trade me to the lakers I will do a sign and trade”You get an asset and I get paid. Meaning we both win..
Lakers do this move to 1) Get the first star in the building(excluding Ball and Ingram) 2) Help attract other F.A’s and 3) This shows the Lakers will also big moves to other players.
Lakers also do this move to keep P.G happy/entice him to force the move. Because if P.G is about that money which he might just be this will keep him locked up for the duration of their core also.

Ahkasi ClayParticipantHe has real respect fot Mitchell. (Not yhat pretend respect he kept talking amout Carmello) Jazz are one good player away from being true elite.
He fits so well with the Utah Systen.
And Jazz have the Cap Space.

HazelParticipantThese two spots feel like the most logical fits for basketball. Both teams are a Paul George away from being elite.
If you negged the Jazz, at least tell why. Only thing I can think of is living in Utah

Andv1 WaitingParticipant1) Where he will go:
The non-contenders right now:
Lakers-If last year leak and reason for forced trade still ring true. The fact they also have a young core and a system which may suit his play style may not hurt. They also have cap room to get one more big name to come with him.
Clippers-This was his Fav team growing up. The only thing that may make it awkward is he used to date Doc’s daugther… But they have a vet team and may have some cap room.
Phoenix/Denver…Both are missing that one last piece to take them to contender status. The suns may have the most cap room to make this a reality.
The almost contenders:
OKC-The most money and he may want to give Russell one more shot…
The Bucks/76ers: Both of these teams have some crazy young prospects which would fit nicely with him and could make the east fun to watch.
The contenders:
Cavs: IF Lebron stays. This would most likely have to be a sign and trade for someone like K-love..Russell wouldn’t mind playing with Russell and could fit nicely with Adams.
Houston…Their system and guards maybe a crazy fit for him.. But how they get him is the question and what for.
2) Where he should go:
1 of 3 teams
1)OKC-If he wants continuity and they make some moves before he re-ups with the team as they can over the cap for him
2)One of the L.A teams if it is all about the home team feelings. My guess is most likely Lakers.
3) A team that sells him on the right Vision to win it all and how they will do it. I could see this either being a Lebron team(whatever one that is) or one with enough pieces to make it happen right away-Sun or Nuggets could trade pieces to get them over the hump like the Cavs did when Lebron came back.
