He’s still coming along slowly in his transition to the league; he should be a mismatch problem on a nightly basis. 14 points 3-4 3PT 5 rebounds 5 blocks 1 steal. Not bad at all when it matters the most.

Dude just needs mass. Not sure he or Nerlens will ever have enough weight to be the centers they need to be.

Agreed. He is coming on pretty slow but he just turned 21 a couple months back finishing up his 2nd year in the NBA. Still plenty of time but I would honestly like to see a solid jump from him next year. It all starts with the right coach for Milwaukee tho. The pieces are there.

While most rookies have better sophomore years, Maker did pretty bad with a playing time twice higher than in his rookie season. His good games are exception and 5pts 3rbds in 17min on 41% FG (his stats this season) is not what you expect from a rising prospect. He kacls mass, toughness and is just not efficient.

More like Thon "Broken Clock" Maker. He is really awful. Plays with no feel, no leverage and his skill has always been overrated.  Maybe eventually his mind will slow down and he’ll become like a serviceable 4th big, but his instincts are terrible.  He also lied about his age so he’s actually way behind in his development for his age too.

In the immortal words of Frozen, let it go mate. He didn’t lie about his age. Anyone who says so is lying.

Nah, the kid didn’t just repeat a year or 2. He repeated the entirety of high school.  There’s photographical, yearbook and video evidence of him pictured in every year of high school before he even came over to the States.

        You can start here:

https://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=1457783 Thon Faker lied and he sucks, but great job by his handler for gaming his way into a lotto contract.

Haha, there is no way all those kids are in Y12. Anyway, what about the footage of Thon’s birth certificate that stated he was the age he claimed? I can’t find an image of it or I’d post it. If that was faked, that’s more serious, as that means there was a conspiracy involving the Australian government when he emigrated to Australia at age 5. Enjoy the haterade.

Birth certificate based on what? Documents from the Sudan that don’t exist? OK. I followed this story closely and I don’t remember that all.  You mean the same birth certificate that they wouldn’t even show NBA teams?  They produced a passport and hoped that the controversy would go away.  There is literally no reason for these people who went to school with Thon and possess the yearbooks that he was pictured in, every single year from 8-12, recorded videos of themselves going through the yearbook, proving that the pics weren’t shopped, to lie. They gain nothing from it.

Believe what you want. There’s more evidence that shows he’s older than there is evidence that he is how old he says he is.  Enough evidence for NBA teams to rule out selecting him in the 1st round because they too believed he was older.  There’s a reason why his handler kept playing this shell game with Thon, moving him all over the place, hiding him from further evaluation and skipping college. Thon would’ve been exposed in more ways than one.

He was always going to be a work in progress and his draft status was the most open of many in recent years, so the jury is still out on him. He does need bulk but he did look impressive in his cameo last night he showed what his upside could be.

Postgame Giannis said the difference maker turning around this series has been Thon Maker. I think Terry Rozier has been the difference maker. When he plays well Celtics win when he doesnt they lose. NHis performances could decide the outcome.

Everybody wanted to trash on Thon all yr while he was playing poorly, but now you see a glimpse of that crazy potential. He has AK47 upside but he’s on the Jermaine O’Neal developmental timeline i.e. he might not be a real contributor until his second contract.

But a player with his frame, mobility and work ethic you dont just give up on.

It’s good to see him turn it around which is why I made this thread to highlight his improvements, but I still stand by my statements that were made at the time.

He’s still got a long way to go, but he just needs PT and a coach that’s invested in his development. A lot of his inconsistency this season was a byproduct of the Bucks dysfunction and roster changes. It was a terrible idea for JKidd to have him as a "placeholder" starter for a good chunk of the season, and yoyo-ing  him in and out of the lineup for the rest of it. He should’ve been groomed in the "defensive energy big off the bench" role from the get go, and let him build his confidence that way first.

It’ll be interesting to see who develops faster though, Thon or J Isaac in ORL

He underperformed as a sophomore but Kidd got fired and the whole team underachieved honestly so one could speculate it’s the organization/system who hasn’t had any of the bigs they drafted live up to potential while having they’re wings kinda exceed it.

I personally feel like he actually needs more touches to get warmed up into a game he usually only ever get’s a chance to shoot spot up 3’s a couple times a game.  Also Giannis isn’t Ben Simmons.  He’s not a natural PG, although he’s a better scorer, he misses a lot of passes during the course of a game so does Bledsoe.  So maybe getting a better passing guard is the key here.  Imagine a guy like Rubio on this team it would open up everybody.

He’s so young, hopefully he can keep his chin up & understand that his rough sophomore year is not abnormal

Thom Maker is one heck of a good shot blocker – especially w/ off ball help defense

And if Maker can be more consistent from 3 pt range & I do not see Any reason why he will not improve than Maker is going to be an outstanding stretch 4 in the NBA for a Long time

Happy for the Bucks & their fans b/c Maker could be a crucial piece – he has a very rare skill set that is at ta premium in the NBA
