weballin.netParticipantWrote a piece about Filipino’s rising prospects, who among them do you think can make it to the NBA one day?

HeroescantdieParticipantJalen Green obviously, He’s the top player in his class, barring injuries and other risks invovled, he’ll be in the nba one day. His mother is a part Filipina, so he’s 1/4 Filipino though, Hope he could play for gilas someday.

ph90702Kobe Paras is at CSUN now. Not a chance.

HeroescantdieParticipantHe leaves CSUN this month because of the firing of CSUN coach who recruited him, I think it was Theuss. He went home and announced he’ll go pro.

GBeeParticipantKai Sotto looks interesting. He’s 15 y/o (or a young 16 idk) 7’1 already and still growing. For a kid his age he has good skill, feel, touch and feet. I’ll be interested to see how he progresses physically and athletically. Him being weak at that age is a given, but I did manage to catch some of those u16 games and he gets pushed around too easily. Needs to get tougher mentally, but just in terms of skill and feel he’s very advanced. Could be the best Asian big man prospect since idk…Yi?? It’s been a while.

HeroescantdieParticipantOnly time will tell, I think if he can improve his body and add weight he can be really good, His father was a former PBA player, with his dad genes, I think he can add weight, his dad is not that skinny.

MooooseParticipantJalen Green is promising. I just hope he learns how to take caution and protect his body while playing.
Remy Martin is also good. But unless he gets a growth spurt, I think his chance of playing in the NBA is at a borderline. Not saying he doesn’t have a chance, but looking at a decent sample size of players like Phil Pressey, Keydren Clark, Kay Felder, Peyton Siva, etc., it would be a real challenge.
There are a couple of guys that I think are intriguing – Sedrick Barefield and Kamaka Hepa. Hepa has a gait like Myles Turner if one is to observe and is oozing with untapped potential.
Kobe Paras. I am not sure about what he said about going pro but he needs to have outstanding private workouts to make it to the NBA. In the business aspect, having Kobe Paras on an NBA team will be beneficial, just like what Houston’s been doing with Chinese players.
Kai Sotto. I am still not sold on him, I am sorry. He’s just too stiff and has limited mobility. Getting stronger by getting bigger is not going to help, IMO. That will just hinder his mobility some more. If he is to get stronger, he will need to commit to playing in the paint and look to dominate there. He will need to watch a ton of traditional bigs. The Philippines could use his height but nothing else. There will be a lot of international players who are smaller than him and yet about two times stronger and faster.
