Simons has to be one of my favourite prospects at the moment and I was wondering where you rank him and see him as a player

Comparison wise I can see him becoming a similar player to what D’Angelo Russell and C.J. McCollum are

His ability to score off the dribble is at an elite level already and his jump shot is one of the purest shots in recent memory

Right now I would rank him top 10 in 2018 and top 5 in 2019

Don’t agree I’m sorry. I think he has to improve his IQ, passing in the P&R and I’m not sure about the low release on his jumper. He’s athletic but he’s a long way from being an NBA player. I’m sure someone would take him in the 20s in the 2019 draft but not this one. He’d be a 2nd rounder at best this June.

If he comes out in the 2018 draft he’s a second round pick. Although he’s at IMG and competing against other powerhouse programs he will need time in college round out his basketball game as a teammate of other players of his calibur and to make his guard skills more defined, becoming a better passer, making the right pass instead of only passing when you can’t score, and mastering the catch and shoot since he’s a primary ball handler right now.

2019 he could easily be a top 5 pick if just shows he has one defining skill that scouts didn’t see in high school.

I’d have him somewhere mid to late teens, with late lotto ceiling, probably ahead of Duval as a PG prospect.  I do like Duval and I think he’d be the better all-around guard considering playmaking and defense, but that shot is broken.  He’d have to come light years to become respectable.  Simons already has 1 translatable NBA skill and that’s shooting…from everywhere on the floor.  Even if his release is low-ish, he compensates by having a lighting quick release.  He also appears to be as comfortable shooting off the bounce as he is catching and shooting.  His ability to shoot off of pull-ups and stepbacks so comfortably already elevates his PnR potential.

While not a dynamic passer/playmaker, I wouldn’t call him selfish, ball-dominant or a bad passer.  He makes simple passes, reads and he will move the ball.  I think he’d be a great complement on a team that already has a dominant ball-handler/playmaker at another position.

I guess my biggest concerns drafting him would be his physical immaturity and his playmaking ability.  He’s very thin, like De’Aaron Fox type thin, but he is a late bloomer literally.  He didn’t grow til late in high school and likely isn’t finished so he’ll need time to fill his new-ish frame. While he can get into the paint, he’s moreso a sinewy, athletic shooter/shot-maker at this juncture.  If a team needs a penetrating, draw and kick PG or combo to be the primary playmaker for the team then they should probably look elsewhere.

I think he would be smart to enter in 2019 where I think he could go in the 8-20 range.  I am actually not too high on him and can see him being a bust in the G-League/Successful Overseas/End of NBA Bench realm.  I think at this point I see his ceiling as a 6th man type scorer off the bench.

I don’t see him as a combo guard at this point I see him as an undersized shooter.  I put the bust label on him because I think he may not be strong enough to score at the NBA level consistency and the pounding of NBA defense is going to wear him out taking away his legs for his shot.  I could see him much being like Jimmer Frederrette a guy that could score with the best of them at college level, overseas, G-League but it just not translating to NBA that great.
