Portland just lost their series in 4 games and Lillard was the only one to put up consistent points against the GSW. What kind of player could the get back Trading C.J and some/all 3 first rounders? Because I don’t think the duo of C.J and Dame will work.

in today’s nba you can’t rid of a player like cj unless you get the value back at a position of need.cj played good all series.it seemed like when dame was off,cj was on.portlands best bet is to try to trade the supporting  cast of players.i think nurkic ,dame and cj should be the only untouchables and see what you can get for everyone else.portland is a team filled with many players who do the same thing.

The best thing for Portland to do may be to just keep this core of Lillard, CJ, and Nurkic together and wait for a window to open up in the west. Right now, GS is intouchable, so Portland should just build through the draft, acquire some cap room and financial flexibility, and wait for an oppurtunity to present itself.  If a star is on the market in let’s say 3 years from now, they should jump on it. But for now, Portland should just be patient.

I think it would be wrong to consider the Warriors absolutely untouchable for the next couple of years, it is possible that Kevin Durant leaves the team after this season to try and recapture the love of the fans; resigning Curry and Igoudala will cost a lot of money which may further hurt their depth; McGee, Livingston, Pachulia, West are all expiring. Injuries can always happen.

Don’t take me wrong, the Warriors look great moving forward, but you can never know how long a team can keep this up. The James-Bosh-Wade Heat looked like a potential dynasty, but fell apart after four years. This is the third year the Warriors are amazing, anything can happen.

Perhaps, the Warriors are untouchable for the Blazers though, but not at all for every team.

durants not going anywhere, not a Lebron type return available to him, winning rings will make the hate easier to cope with….literally the warriors are untouchable. Now I could potentially see klay leaving at some point but even that is years away.

They were also "literally untouchable" last year, when they almost didn’t make the finals and then lost the the Cavs.

The backcourt of Dame and CJ just not working , they need to trade CJ for the sixers and get oakfor and the fourth pick while upgrading crabbe to starter…

Nurkic while a good talent and a by far better player than Plumlee they missed the passing that Plumlee brought to the team. Dame is worried about showing people he can do what Steph does and CJ is a natural scorer they have little to no ball movement so they need to install an offensive system to help the role players get touches or bring in somebody to run the offense at point forward. I know they have Turner I just have no faith in him personally

I agree with this … Dame and CJ are kind of a poor man’s Splash Bros. and maybe the second-most unguardable backcourt when they’ve got it going. But they lack the ball movement and passing from the big men that make the Warriors’ offense so good. (To continue the analogy I guess you could call Turner a poor man’s Iguodala and Aminu a homeless man’s Draymond Green.)

So yeah, they need better passing and maybe just more veteran smarts from the frontcourt. And while I’ve nothing against Terry Stotts, I wonder if a George Karl/Rick Carlisle disciple is the ideal guy for a team built around Dame and CJ. Would a D’Antoni/Pop/Kerr disciple make more sense?

Portland has a lot of salary on the books and none of it expires this year. Leonard is overpaid, Turner is untradeable, and Crabbe wasn’t much better, though Brooklyn might consider a trade after they tendered him last summer. Lillard and McCollum duplicate each others skills, with Lillard being both a better offensive player and worse defensive player. Lillard is the team leader, the only way forward outside of unloading contracts is trading CJ. Though risky, a trade involving Cousins and McCollum could make both teams better.

Must’ve been because of the Cousins thing. Perhaps Paul George would be a better option. Obviously, CJ is locked up long-term and the others are not, so taking a risk like that could end up horrible. I think they role with what they got for a while. Although, I worry Nurkic can’t stay healthy.

I like Nurkic, and George would be a good fit, but George seems unlikely to settle long term in a small market unless he somehow makes NBA 3rd team and gets a mega-max. If Portland really is the +4 point differential team they were after the All Star break they will seem fine, but it’s hard to envision them being better than a four or five seed with such a bad defense.

They didn’t lose this series because of Dame and CJ. If they didn’t have CJ but had an SF with the same talent level, the result would still have been the same. The problem is everyone besides those 2 and Nurkic. They had the 2nd best record in the league (I believe, correct me if I’m wrong on that) since trading for Nurkic so why wouldn’t they at least run it next season and see if they can keep it up?

I like the core of lillard. McCollum and nurkic. I’m not really in love with thier bench players. I think Crabbe is too small to play the SF. Why not try to trade at least two of those 1st round picks to get an established 15-170ppg scorer? Maybe a Millsap or a mitotic, Tobias harris , galinari, Wilson Chandler, tyreke Evans or someone like that. And then try to find a diamond in the rough with the higher first round pick. I dont think Portland is a prime  destination for free agents , but they do have a great nucleus . They just need that glue guy to at least make them more competitive come playoff time

Portland needs to do everything they can to unload the contracts of Evan Turner and Allen Crabbe. With that cap space, they would be able to acquire a star free agent and possibly another low post talent.
