Chris Paul is an incredible player. He also gets away with horrendous fouls on a regular basis and this playoff series is no exception.

In the first quarter of tonight’s game, he blatantly shoves Gobert in the back under the rim… no call. In the second quarter he essentially wrapped his arms around George Hill in the corner…. no call.

In the fourth quarter, he follows Hayward to the ground for a loose ball. Hayward clearly has the ball. It’s Jazz ball. Paul fights for the ball like they’re playing on a black top. Paul is clearly in the wrong- the refs call double technicals.

These are just a few examples of a trend that spans years. Chris Paul should led the league in personal fouls or go play in 1991. It’s ridiculous what he gets away with.

^^^agreed lol. He has the little guy complex when frustrated he plays borderline dirty and people confuse it with competing. I’ve thought this for years

To me, he doesn’t compare to James Harden plowing into everyone and, magically having the play called his way every time. What is wrong with refs?

He makes 9 free throws a game. He deserves, maybe, one or two of them.

Personally I think winning is a bit overrated in terms of defining the best players.  I mean people are still claiming Lebron hasn’t passed Kobe yet because Kobe has two more rings.  Anyone with half a brain knows Lebron is and will go down as the better player but that’s another story.

With all the winning-centric debates of best players of the recent era why does nobody bring up Chris Paul not just failing to win a ring, not just failing to make the finals, he has never even made the conference finals. Melo who everyone jumps on for not being a winner has lead a team to the conference finals.

Thinking about all the great players still currently playing most have made it to the conference finals save the younger players stuck on bad teams.

Paul, despite having some excellent regular season teams in both NOLA and LA has never lead his team passed the conference semis.  It is what his 12th/13th year in the league now?   So why does he get a pass when he is mentioned as the best PG of the last decade or so?

Not to burst your bubble, but Paul gets murdered every year for not going deep in the playoffs, and has since 2007.

Also, he clearly is the best PG of his generation, and it’s not even debatable at this point. Who even comes close?

Guys like Westbrook, Curry, Wall are all better imp, but they aren’t in that generation, they’re in the next. The only competition Paul has had over the years from his class is Deron for a few years, Rondo for a few years, and then…? Paul has been giving us 20/10 on elite shooting before it became the norm in the NBA. Give him some credit atleast.

Not saying Tony Parker is better than CP, but I would mention him before Deron and Rondo for that generation.

^lets not forget that he still manages to play at a high level even at an older age and with this new era of hyperathletic point guards.

Fact of the matter is that for him to stay around the top the way he has, he needs to have the a near genius level basketball IQ and part of that is being able to work the refs on offense AND on defense (see Kobe Bryant)

It’s not just Paul getting by with this, it’s league wide. All the stars get this no call on fouls rule.

I remember the Wolves playing LA and Kolbe committed his second technical and he would have been out of the game, and he looked and the official and you could read his lips telling the official "I’ll be out of the game" and the officials low and behold changed the call. Even the announcers said the same thing.

That’s the biggest thing I don’t like about the NBA. A foul is foul. I don’t care who committed it. A star or a rookie. This treatment happens in other leagues also but not to the extent it does on foul calls in the NBA.

    Pure BS.
