ChewyParticipantI am a KU fan and a fan of Bill Self’s style of coaching. He holds players accountable defensively which lets KU be consistent. They have pulled a string of transfer this year: Sam Cunliffe, Charlie Moore, Lawson Twins.
Moore had a great freshman year with 12 pts and 3.5 ast as a true freshman. Honestly, I’ll always be happy to have the starting PG from Mac Irving Fire as my teams PG. *** not to mention 2019 Chicago guard Markese Jacobs***
Sam Cunliffe averaged 9 pts and 40% 3 point FG as a lanky wing shooter
Dedric Lawson 19 pts and 9 rebs as a 6-8 forward. Could of taken a shot as a 2nd rounder in NBA draft, choose to transfer instead.
KJ Lawson 12 pts and 8 rebs as a 6-7 forward.
We also have Malik Newman who sat out this year and will start next year.
Billy Preston MIGHT be a one and done or MIGHT stay 2 or 3 years. Depends on his performance and development.
With the ridiculous amount of transfer now, its like a brand new form of recruiting season. KU could legitimately have a strating line up made entirely from transfers. And it is safer because you have already seen these guys perform at the D1 level.
Any other teams bringing in a ridiculous amount of transfers lately?

Evan_MilbergParticipantShould be interesting to see how Dedric Lawson uses this opportunity. I thought he had potential as an early second round pick that would’ve been a first rounder if he had a true position. Next year’s draft doesn’t appear to be as deep at both forward positions, so he should have a shot of raising his stock if he’s consistent. He needs to improve his shooting touch for that to happen, though.

ChewyParticipantwill have to sit out next year, so I would be surprised if he entered next year’s draft, since he won’t have any chance play in real games.
It has happened before tho. Ricky Ledo sat out at Providence and then bounced to NBA without playing for them, but I see Lawson staying 2 years in Lawrence.

OhCanada-ParticipantWow. Thats some serious news. Im surprised Im only hearing about this now. What an outstanding transfer class thats ridiculous.
Charlie Moore can flat out ball. Bill Self has done less with more and this kid defenitely has the attitude of a Kansas gaurd. When I think about all the great gaurds Self developed I see Moore as a guy that should be with the school until he is a senior and could end up being one of the great Kansas gaurds as he will likely stay a while since he lacks the elite athletisism or size to interest NBA teams.
Cunliffe was a guy I was high on as a freshman especially before Maker declared for the NBA draft (he was going to play at Arizona St). This year he didnt really get an opportunity to shine at Arizona St. because of the gaurd heavy three gaurd lineup. He was gonna get a chance this year but transfering to Kansas and Id imagine he would eventually be filling Mykhaliuk’s role should be great for him.

OhCanada-ParticipantSo Im assuming Newman and Cunliffe will be playing next year and Moore and the Lawson brothers will be sitting out?

Taylor Gang MikeParticipantSam Cunliffe can really hoop, may only be there one year. Hes that good. If Duval goes to Kansas then Newman will play off the ball with Graham. Nice three guard lineup along with Preston and the young center

ChewyParticipantaka "The guy who stole senior Landon Lucas’ starting spot in 5 games."

Robb_CParticipantBill Self is mastering what Fred Hoiberg was doing at Iowa St, Self pretty much niched up the high-major transfer market by simply not recruiting HS talent.. NCAA has to put a cap on how many transfers are allowed a season or something to that effect..
Mid-Majors will eventually just turn into glorified Prep Schools for the Power Conferences, but to be honest I think its already happening.

OhCanada-ParticipantWhats the projected rotation?
PG-Graham, SG-Vick, SF-Mykhaliuk, PF-Bragg, C-Azubuike
BENCH
G-Newman
WING-Cunliffe
FORWARD-Preston
F-Lightfoot
FC-Coleby
Seems they maybe thin in the frontcourt if Azubuike cabt carry the load like Lucas did this year. Teams got alot of potential and Self usually gets the most out of hus guys. Dont think he is finished recruiting either.

ChewyParticipantwill be availible 2nd semester, so he will miss the beginning of next year. Bragg is transfering out after a rough soph season.
Starters: Graham, Newman, Vick, Preston, Udoka
Bench: Svi, Lightfoot, Colby, Garrett (6’5 freshman pg), then Cunliffe second semester
Self has said in interviews that Newman has 1st team all B12 potential next year, but obviously Graham has B12 POY potential, so he still is the leader for this team.

Anton123ParticipantThis is getting ridiculous, Charlie Moore, Dedric Lawson and KJ Lawson for the 18-19 season is probably more incoming talent than any possible recruiting class. Dedric Lawson is a potential NPOY,
I agree with Chewy’s starting 5, only I think Mikhailuk will start over Vick, Self seems to like Svi and Svi will be the senior.
