Clearly he is out of NYC.  The no trade clause will allow him to pick and choose.

I can see a scenario where the Lakers try to pair Melo with a top 3 pick and send a couple of their young players the other direction, maybe Ingram and Russell, because Randall is enough of a bully that he will ne necessary in a starting line up containing Anthony.  It is a "win now" kind of move for the team and player, even if it falls a little short of that on the court.

I also wonder is Washington might work, as it would have a "coming" home aspect.  The Bullets have a positional and contract swaps that might work for Anthony, though any deal the Knicks would end up with would feel like a fire sale compared to what they might get from the Lakers.

In general, I can’t see Anthony playing for 80% of the league if he has his choice, so it is a limited set of destinations.

How do you think this is going to end?

Mello will probably limit it to the following teams:

Whatever team Wade is on-So Bulls if he opts in(I would suggest firing the coach for one that could handle Rondo,Wade,Butler and Mello on their team though)

Clippers-He is Cp3 guy/gets along with Blake  and D.J alright

Cavs-He could force a scraps for whatever it takes deal to get him to Cavs

I could maybe see OKC being in the mix(IF Russ gets MVP) but I am not sure if I would want him there as he may not fully fit into a Westbrook System or what we would actually give them..

But think about it for a second: Adams,Taj,Mello,Oladipo and Russ  a bench of Kanter,Sabonis,Roberson(if not traded for mello/brought back) Abrines and whatever pg we can get to run our bench unit preferabbly a pass first pg

That’s Presti’s plan. Roberson moves back to SG and Victor is the 6th man

Washington would be the sort of team that Melo might be interested in going to but they would need to do something with their cap, Otto Porter is up for renewal and would need to be moved on, so I don’t personally see Washington doing this unless Porter demanded a huge salary.

Don’t know if anyones really going to be able to make it work.. Melo has a 25% trade kicker meaning his contract gets bumped up to 30mil per if he agrees to get traded- not a lot of teams have the assets to make that work financially and still be a smart move. I don’t know if New York will be able to find a suitor willing to take that contract on as well as give New York something of worth back.

I predict he goes to Cleveland. Might sound crazy but after KD went to GSW anythings realistic. I think Cleveland will fail to win the Eastern Conference this year and all kinds of ridiculous media headlines will surface perhaps a "Lebron quit on his team" or "Kyrie Irving soft" and "Kevin Love to be traded" something along those lines. Im not saying those things are true or are going to happen I just feel like they will get attacked by the media mostly ESPN. As a result Lebron will request his buddy Melo to come over and join him.

Thats the best Ive got for storytime.

Can anybody name something that Carmelo Anthony has won in the NBA?  I’ll wait…..If I’m a GM of all the other teams in the NBA, why would I want Melo on my team?  He’s 33 and past his prime, ball-stopper, doesn’t play D, I mean what gives here?  Mel talked about just wanting to win before he signed that huge contract with the Knicks in 2011.  He obviously could have cared less about winning in my opinion.  I would’t give up a mediocre bench player for Carmelo Anthony.

Melo, under his contract is IMO , UNTRADEABLE. There isn’t a scenario in which a team, that may be one proven scorer away, would be willing to accept an aging star, who doesn’t/can’t play defense, and pay him his current contract. All while giving some sort of asset away.

Sorry, but it just can’t happen.

     Celtics?

If the Knicks could get Avery Bradley, Jae Crowder, James Young, Tyler Zeller, 36, 53, and 54, they do it right?

The Celtics then have IT, Melo, Horford, Smart, Olynyk, Jaylen Brown, Gerald Green, and the Nets top pick.

Melo and someome to LAC sending Blake Griffin to NY!

Boston sends #1 pick and last two of their few second round picks to Chicago for Jimmy Butler.

Gordon Hayward is the big question mark. May affect who pursues Caldwell Pope.

Warriors star Warriors and Lowery stays a Raptor!

CP3 signs contract to end career a Clipper. He and Melo attract the next best veteran big (Millsap?)

melo has to keep his wife happy too who seems to love new york so that might be a sticking point to moving on too. also his son would be another big thing to think about.

I can see him with the Lakers. They also have some pieces to trade.

Deng and Mosgov are both high salary guys who can give you some veteran production. You can also say the same for Lou Williams. Throw in Clarkson, too, especially if the Lakers keep their pick and draft a point guard. Tarik Black could give them a poor man’s version of Charles Oakley. The Lakers can also throw in the 28th pick.

The Knicks also chip in with the 58th pick and cash.

The Lakers go with a lineup of Lonzo Ball, DeAngelo Russell, Carmelo, Julius Randle, and Zubac with Brandon Ingram and Larry Nance, Jr. off the bench.

Carmelo starts for the next couple of years, the Lakers pick up a few more pieces, then he ends his career in LA as a 6th man.

hes not a Laker any more and Deng and Mozgov have bad contracts. He’s too old at that contract for the Lakers.

     ^^

You know who else has a bad contract? Yep. Carmelo Anthony.

say the Lakers end up at 5 and go with Lonzo Ball. Then they have a nice young core of Ball, Russell, Ingram, Randle, and Zubac. And guys on rookie deals.

then with Carmelo they have a "franchise" type guy with star power. Then you get a couple of aging super friends in LeBron James and Chris Paul for SUPER Showtime.

CP3, Russell, Carmelo, LeBron, and Zubac, with Lonzo, Grayson Allen (where there’s a will there’s a way), Ingram, Randle, and Nance, Jr. as a turbo charged small ball bench mob. I also have Birdman signing on for one last hurrah in Laker Land as a 13th man. Metta World Peace stays on as the 12th man. 11th man honors goes to UCLA uber-chucker Bryce Alford.

completely unrealistic and NO! For one, Lakers can only have a top 3 pick. If it falls lower it automatically goes to Sixers because of a pst trade with the Suns.
