He now has 42 triple doubles surpassing the Big-O and he cap off that performance with a game-winner. He’s should be the MVP. 50 points, 16 rebounds and 10 assist is his statline. Shoutout to Semaj Christon for giving him that triple double.

In other news, Cavs blew a 26 point lead vs Hawks.

For awhile I thought Harden deserved MVP but what Westbrook is doing is too incredible.  Performances like this one and the comback against Orlando when he had the historic 57/13/11 triple double will likely stick with voters.   As will 42 triple doubles and averaging a triple double for the season.

Despite Harden’s impressive season, how could he deserve MVP more than Westbrook ? One team is 3rd place, one is 6th. Not a huge difference: 8 wins. I’ve never bought into the MVP having to be a playoff team, let alone a rope 3 team. It’s not Most Valuable Teammate, or Most Valuable Guy on a Good Team. If you win 35% of your games, but your team would win 0% without you, you are probably the most valuable. Heck, do you really think sports leagues meant "most valuable?" They really meant "Dude Who Played the Best." In the meantime everyone debates the meaning of the word "valuable." I bet it just sounded more prestigious than "Best Player This Year." But no, everyone wants to nitpick the meaning of MVP.

I think you give a Co MVP this year because Westbrook and Hardens team… well they really cant do much without either of them on the court yeah Westbrook just broke the record that the GOAT the big-O had but you cant let on record decide who gets MVP.

I’m probably just on a crazy high from watching that but to me what he just did in that game was bigger than Steph’s shot against us last year. Part of me in the 4th quarter was hoping he wouldn’t get that 10th assist because I thought there was no way we’d win and I wanted it to come in a win but I just didn’t have enough faith in the Brodie. Expect the unexpected

I honestly just can’t believe there are still people that are criticizing him for this game. 50-16-10, 2 turnovers and a 30 foot game winner while outscoring Denver 13-2 in the last 2 and a half minutes and yet somehow people from Texas are still discounting him. A few guys have said that we needed the gamewinner because he was chasing that 10th assist, but he was making the right plays everytime. Sabonis missed 3 wide open shots and Adams dropped an open layup out of bounds, but somehow that’s stat padding. It’s amazing the lengths that some people will go to hate

just saw the game winner!!! He’s the goat lol just kidding, but smh of we weren’t in an era where everybody wanted to play with everybody and water down competition he would be competing for championships, and he would be considered undoubltley the best player in the game PERIOD!!! It’s like watching AI on roids!!

Right! I was only 6 when AI went to the Finals in 01 but I can’t imagine his team was much better than we are right now. I don’t think anyone thinks he could’ve made it to the Finals if he had to go through the West this year

I never in my life thought I would see anybody do over the course of a season what Westbrook has done this season. The fact that he has averaged a triple double is unbelievable in itself. The fact that he is doing it while also averaging almost 32 points a game is almost inconceivable. No player in the league has averaged 30 pts and 10 ast since tiny Archibald in 1973. Westbrook has done that while also averaging 10 rpg. And he doesn’t play an astonomical amount of mins either ( around 35 a game) which makes it all the more remarkable.

Has Westbrook passed his stats at times this year? Most likely. But it’s not like he is doing it at the expense of team success. The fact is the thunder have been better when Westbrook puts up huge statistical outputs. There is no player in the league as important to his team right now. Without him, the thunder are probably in the same boat among the five worst teams in the league. With him, they are firmly in the playoffs and a team nobody really wants to see in the first round.

No player has won mvp on a team that has won fewer than 50 games since 1982. It’s time to break that trend this season. This has been Westbrook’s season and with all due respect to harden, Leonard and lebron he deserves the MVP.

So glad Russ got this record and with a win(he would have been butchered by media for stat Stuffing if we had lost). Thank F*ck for Westbrook is all I will say as this regular season would have been a complete dud/snooze feast as everyone has only two teams honestly being the mix to win it all(+ maybe spurs as they always seem to be in the mix.

Compare that to the MVP Debate which has far more following it especially with the first round matchup locked up now…

There are have been least 4 MVP candidates depending on who you ask/who they are a fan of this season: Westbrook,Harden,Lebron and Kawhi compare that to just 2 teams that everyone is pretty much picking to win it all.

Agreed, if this season was about teams like it usually is it’d be as boring as we all thought it would at the beginning of the year. But the fact that so many individuals are having amazing and all-time great seasons make for some great storylines
