Amille Jefferson is graduating, Sean Obi is transferring, chase jeter is transferring, now Marques bolden, who many thought would be a lottery pick after this year is transferring.  The whole Duke front line has transferred or graduated.  Wendell Carter is coming and Duke is still in the running for Bamba.  I guess my question is, what in he world is going on in durham?

Duke trying their best to nab Bamba from Kentucky…will be funny when he comes to Big Blue Nation any way.

according to duke’s website its not official yet…..if he does leave it might be for a school in texas….he does have big time potential…but he never got on track after missing the first 8 gms of the season becuz of ankle & leg injuries….read a rumor online that he’s considering playing overseas for a year…..

Duke has always had players transferring out. I always assume it’s because of 5-star recruits not getting enough playing time and their parents being upset.

It just boggles the mind. Looking at Duke’s roster you should have imagined you wouldn’t get playing time. It just goes to show how choosing schools wisely can affect everything

Bc on the flip TJ Leaf and Lauri Markenen chose schools where they knew they woils shine  and they’ll be lottery picks. Jeter  and Bolden will be forgotten and have to sit a year when technically they just did sit a year lol smh

TJ and Lauri are way different players than Bolden and Jeter. New breed of big man vs the old…I don’t think it was that much about their respective rosters and more about their talents.

Maybe Bolden can shine in a new uniform but I was not the least impressed with what I saw from his this year.

For Obi it’s a no brainer, he’s graduating and had good numbers at Rice so he can put together a solid senior year in a mid major team rather than sitting on the end of Duke’s bench.
For Jeter is also a good decision, if he wants to be in the NBA he needs change as he had no chance to start next year and he isn’t enough good for the big stage (2 ppg and 2 rpg in 15 minutes is putrid), dominating on a lesser team will certainly help.
Bolden is a bit surprising, but if Bamba comes over he’ll be on the bench again, so for a potential one and done player to be still on the bench entering his 3rd season (2018) not ideal, that combined with the lack of success this tumultuous season scared him away.
Anyway no reason to panic for the Blue Devils, losing Bolden isn’t good news, but they’ll be fine.

Wow Duke isn’t right for good big men.. Only Okafor did good because he didn’t have the perimeter talent

The thing is Duke has too much talent to individually develop each player. Its like a teacher having a classroom with 20 students compared to a teacher having a classroom with 5. Coaches like Coach K, Calipari, Bill Self can teach collective principals that are team oriented but for them to personally develop 8 players at once just wont work. If Bolden wants to take another step forward he really had to make this decision. Same thing Semi Ojeyele did and SMU got the most out of him. Semi wouldve likely still been a role player at Duke.

I don’t buy the "there is too much talent to develop each player" crap.  I also don’t buy there was no playing time.  Look, people say Coach K is the greatest college basketball coach of all-time.  He is great no doubt, but between his national titles he has more embarrassing exits from the NCAA tournament with rosters full of Mcdonald’s all-americans than a lot of the great college coaches combined.  Say what you want about Coach Cal, but he brings together all his talent and makes final fours and NCAA tournament runs consistently.  Forget the 2012-2013 with Archie Goodwin and Nerlens Noel that was embarrassingly bad.  Coach K doesn’t do that.  He has about the same talent level as Coach Cal has had recently.  Granted the team this year had flaws.  They had no true PG.  If Grayson Allen is running the point for you, that’s not a good thing.  If Chase Jeter and Marques Bolden were any good, they would have played.  I think I speak for a lot of people when I say we’re sick of the hype Duke gets year in and year out.  People basically handed them the trophy before the season starts.  It’s Duke and everybody else.  Please/  There are so many great teams out there that deserve more recognition than Duke all the friggin time.  Last year they had all that talent and were supposed to be great and they lose in the sweet 16.  This year they are supposed to be unstoppable and lose to a football school and a team that hadn’t won an NCAA tournament game since 1973.  While 8 miles down the road, their rivals are going to their second straight national championship game.  Now they are having a mass exodus of transfers, guys who were top 20 recruits and supposed to be stars.  People other thanv Carolina fans should be critical and sick of the Duke hype and deservedly so.

Successful teams have a lot of transfers. Duke has a lot of transfers, too, and maybe more 4- and 5-star guys are leaving the program than other schools. But they also have more 4- and 5-star guys on the roster. This is the norm in college basketball at the moment. North Carolina is a bit odd in that its current roster has been remarkably stable the past couple of season be it UNC’s academic scandal hanging overhead limiting the number of top recruits going there and then having to focus on four and three star players, five star recruits staying because they haven’t developed as planned, etc.  UNC’s roster had five star players up and down the roster the past few season, so it’s not like Roy is some sort of alchemist.

Here’s a look at select players that transferred from top schools across the country in the past few years:

Arizona: Craig Victor (4-star PF), Elliot Pitts (3-4 star SG), Justin Simon, (4-5 star SG)

Florida: Alex Murphy (4-star SF and former Duke transfer), Brandon Francis-Ramirez (4-star SG), Braxton Ogbueze (4-star PG), DeVon Walker, (3-star SF),

Kansas: Anrio Adams (3-4 star SG), Conor Frankamp (4-star PG), Zach Peters (3-star PF), Andrew White (4-star SG)

Kentucky: Marcus Lee (4-5 star PF), Charles Matthews (4-star SG)

Louisville: Akoy Agau (3-4 Star PF), Shaqquan Aaron (4-5 star SG)

Michigan: Kameron Chatman (4-5 star SF), Mark Donnal (4-star PF)

Michigan State: Javon Bess (3-4 star SG), Marvin Clark, Jr. (3 star SG), Kenny Kaminski (4-5 star PF)

Ohio State Daniel Giddens (4-star C), Austin Grandstaff (4-star SG), A.j. Harris (4-star PG)

Syracuse: B.J. Johnson (3-4 Star SF), Kaleb Joseph (4-star PG)

Virginia: Darius Thompson (3-star PG), Marial Shayok (3-star SG), B.J. Stith (3-4 star SG)

UCLA: Noah Allen (3-Star SF), Wannah Bail (3-4 star PF)

And this list doesn’t include UConn that has seen two or three transfers in the past two weeks and may not be done.

You would think that someone who’s team is in their second straight championship game would focus on the game, but I guess when their rival beat them 2/3 times this season, has completely dominated them recently, and the ongoing chance that a championship(s) could be vacated because they were jealous of Duke’s success in the 90’s, that isn’t the case.

Problem with Bolden was that he was so foul prone. He’d come on for 2 minutes and almost immediately pick up two fouls. Otherwise, he had better moments than Giles did.

Kind of upset about this loss. Thought he could’ve played a much bigger part next year. Now, the pressures on for recruiting Mo Bamba. If we don’t, then we’re pretty f***ed on big man depth.

He won’t transfer now. He’s returning for Sophomore season in Duke.

Lol this is why you don’t post RUMORS, especially when you have no credible info on the subject…
