With Michael Porter Jr going to Missouri, there is a great chance of seeing 3 #1 overall picks in a row (assuming Markelle is taken 1st pick in 2017 and Porter for 2018) not make it to the NCAA tournament. And I believe that this is okay for two reasons.

    1) It wakes these guys up to the fact that it’s hard to win in college, no matter how good you are. They can’t just show up and expect to win like they did in high school or AAU.
    2) It gives NBA guys a chance to see how these guys handle losing, including speaking to the press, body language, leadership skills, etc.

Now don’t get me wrong, this isn’t ideal. I think we all want to see these guys make magical runs in the tournament a la Anthony Davis and Carmelo Anthony but I really think that going through a little adversity in college tells us a lot about these players before they enter the league. And who knows, maybe Porter will be like Harden and D’Angelo Russell carry a whole team on his back to the tournament as a freshman without any other elite freshmen or upper classmen.

Missouri will surprise people next year, this team wasnt as bad as the record suggests Martin wont struggle to get this team to play D like Kim Anderson..

Lots of nice talent on this Roster.

Interesting choice by Porter Jnr, it will give us a chance to see how much he can help turn around an 8 win team. But the team could be built around him and he’ll have a nice chance to showcase his skills.

With his father on the coaching staff, it seemed a fairly obvious choice and Cuonzo Martin is an experienced NCAA Head Coach with a decent track record.

Don’t sleep on the SEC. Mizzou got him, Alabama’s improving and got a great recruiting class, Florida, Arkansas, South Carolina, and Vandy are all solid, A&M should be much improved. Kentucky’s gonna have some real competition

I honestly don’t know much about Missouri other than that they were terrible, but hopefully Porter can make some stuff happen and not waste a season

Dont forget about Auburn. Mustapha Heron and Danjel Purifoy are legitimate 1st round talents and Bruce Pearl is a great motivational coaches that can get his players to play past thier talent level.
