Evan_MilbergParticipantPhoenix loses to Boston, but Booker scores 70. Crazy.
I have to wonder, though, does that kind of game highlight how special Booker is, or should it be taken with a grain of salt given how little defense is played in today’s game? Obviously it’s probably a bit of both. To put things in perspective, Booker is just 20 years old. Not even Wilt scored that many points in an NBA until he was 25.
So what is Booker’s ceiling? Could he be the best SG in the game in a few years (assuming you consider Harden a PG)?

frogmanParticipantIt highlights how special Booker is. All the amazing scorers of today would get a 70 point game as they are playing the same defenses Booker did. The Suns were definitely padding his stats towards the end of the game, they were down plenty but just kept fouling the Celtics to bet Booker more shots but that doesn’t take away from his performance.
For people like me who don’t watch much of the Suns the most surprising stat was that he only hit 4 three pointers. He has been labelled as a shooter but today just proves he can be one of the best scorers of the next decade. Got to the line 26 times and made 24.

Meditated StatesParticipantIs the game is way too soft. Booker is one of my favorite players but still. I find games tough to watch do to lack of intensity on defense. Yes in the playoffs some D is played but I mainly saw Jordan,Magic,Hakeem erra. Just a much better game back then with more likeable players. I love B Ball but the players are babies and the game is watered down right now. Great night for Book but yeah he is under 21 and like dude said WILT WAS 25 B4 HE DID THAT SHIT. Booker is not Wilt even though he is a great talent.

OhCanada-ParticipantYour out to lunch. Nothing soft about 70. I didnt watch the game I was watching college ball but Im sure the defence was nonworse then when Kobe dropped 82 and nobody gave him sh! t for it. Some teams still play solid defence. Watch Utah play if you need solid d. Watch the Raptors since the allstar break. Playoff basketball has plenty of defence idk where thats coming from.

OhCanada-ParticipantSad that his great performance is being ruined by unprofessional postgame interviews and comments on social media.
Thomas was upset because they intentionally prolongued the game by fouling Boston and putting them on the line so Booker could keep scoring for 70. He said "We are preparing for the playoffs they are preparing for the lottery". Coach Earl Watson was asked about his thoughts on those comments and said "if they have a problem do something!".
Jae Crowder posted "never seen a group of people so happy after a loss" on instagram or twitter. Booker replied, "you cant gaurd me".
Not good stuff in my opinion. Whatever happened to the oldschool textbook way to awnser these questions. Compliment your opponent so you dont sound cocky when you compliment your team, then explain what your looking forward to.
For example.
"Devin Booker is an outstanding player he made some very tough shots but our team iis tough we stuck with the gameplan and pulled out an important win which will help us push for our playoff position".
Thats all he had to say but instead they will go on a 2 day internet beef.
And for Watson hes done a great job this year and I understand sticking up for your guys but coaches shouldnt make emotional comments like that. Makes him look amateur. Really sounds like something a veteran player would say.

kobyzParticipantnot sad at all. Boston comments were right, they defend the sport, what Suns do was ugly…

GronounoursParticipantNow is the time to get rid of the All Star weekend. It’s All Star night every day anyway.
Many teams are playing pathetic defense, management want their teams to loose on purpose, players are doing all they can to help their buddy break some record, without giving a sh*t about winning… That’s just wrong and it has to stop.

HitsterParticipantAs a Phoenix fan, it was a great performance by Devin but we still lost the game comfortably, Celtics were over 20 points up by HT and the Suns never really got close. In other circumstances Booker would not have played 45 minutes and his team mates did help to pad his scoring out.
But he still achieved something that only 5 guys had done previously.
If anyone was going to have a mega game I’d have backed Harden or Westbrook as their situation is where it seemed most likely. Steph/LBJ/KD etc all have the ability but they have much more depth around them and make it unlikely to happen.
Everyone talks about Kobe’s 81 point game but only a month earlier he’d reached 62 points by end of 3rd quarter vs Dallas and was sat for final quarter, so you just wonder what he might have reached then with help from his team mates, I think he’d have gone nearer 90 than his 81 figure personally.

BeastMode716ParticipantBooker is a Great young player. But he scored against mostly Celtics back ups & they are Fouling Celtics back ups down 25 so Booker can get more shots & the Celtics don’t even care
Their attitude seemed to be "I don’t want any part of this" & I don’t blame them
I would have been Much more impressed if Booker scored 40 in a close loss against Boston starters
This was a Cartoon & the NBA better be really careful b/c they have a League where 28 teams have Zero chance to win anything
And My God I like Devin Booker but Please do not even mention him in the same sentence as Kobe

HitsterParticipant27 teams maybe as I’d never discount the Spurs if you were implying GSW and Cavs.
But very good comment about the circumstances and significance so +1 from me.
