Is Jarrett Allen declaring this year for the NBA draft ? I have read that he is leaning towards coming back, this is confirmed by the other website listing him in the 2018 draft.

I have mentioned him quite a few times. I like Jarrett Allen and had him going late in the lottery this year 10-14, most mocks I saw had him at 16-22.

He has a really nice shooting touch for a big, good defender and shotblocker – 6″11 with 7″5 wingspan. Compare myles turner without the 3 ball.

Here is his big dunk of the year:

and below is the poster for it…

He’s a mid first round pick with great upside. I’d declare if I were him, especially considering how bad Texas looks. Not sure if they’re expecting big time recruits next year, but so far Shaka Smart has not being doing well with this team

The job is not done in Texas. Jarret Allen was Shaka Smarts big recruit and I dont think he will leave his coach hanging. Seems as if they were on a mission to make Texas powerhouse.

Although on the other hand financially wise he should probally leave now. I think he would get selected 8-14 in this draft and has that Myles Turner, Bobby Portis, Frank Kaminsky type game that is so coveted by NBA staff. Thing is he is a complete player and can play inside as well. I think another year at Texas would be great for his development though, he wasnt really dominant this year, he and his team didnt learn that killer instinct to close out games which is something Smart can and most likely will teach him. He disappeared at times especially early in the season and I dont think he can step into an NBA rotation yet but his upside makes him a good late lottery pick for a team with patience.

the way he plays the game with his defense, rebounding, hustling and doing the little things..reminds me of joakim noah…except noah is a better passer…

I think he’ll stay, I’ve been hoping he would because I really want to see him with Matt Coleman, I think that playing together will help both players climb higher in the draft.

I hope he stays.  He needs more time.  Also, a lot of NBA players don’t even start to contribute until they’re 22 years old.

he’s talanted but doesn’t play with the best focus and aggression, has more impact on offense than defense, remind me marcin gortat…

How dare you compare a black player to a white player!

Allen got better as the season wore on in the Big 12. Would like to see him declare, love his physical tools and budding skill set. Wants to showcase his mid range jumper which is great but with his length if he can feel comfortable making hooks with either hand he is going to be a tough cover. Moves well, can certainly finish above the rim. 3.8 offensive rebounds per-40 is also encouraging, though his per-40 block numbers could have been better (1.9).

Jarrett Allen will officially declare for the NBA draft.

I’ve been hyping him for the past couple of months, saying he will go in the lottery. Hopefully other mocks will now finally catch on rather than him going 18-20…
